This video is EXACTLY what I've been looking for. I'm buying my first drone soon and am trying to find a good middle ground. I don't need better camera of the Mavic and don't want to go all the way down to the Mini so the Air is basically perfect. However, I'm far more interested in the flight experience than anything with photography or videos so FPV also peaks my interest. I feel like the combo of the Air 3 and Goggles 3 checks all the boxes of what I'm wanting at this point.

Thank you for being honest about your first impressions. I have been waiting for these goggles for my Air 3, because I have such a hard time with seeing details on my RC2 controller. I'm always amazed at what I later-on see on the video, that I did not notice during flight. These goggles are going to really help with that.
BTW - I use the C1 button to switch between the Air 3's two cameras.

@rdavid427. As a paraplegic, the Integra Goggles give me a lot of freedom to explore with the Mini 3 Pro. Could you please let me know whether you can use the zoom function in both cameras using Goggles 3? I am considering the Air 3.

I had the original DJI goggles with my phantom 4 pro. Loved that set up. Sun glare, shadows etc were no longer an issue. Crystal clear. I also had that stupid expensive tablet they had and that was good in bright sun too but the goggles were great.

Goggles are cool for a fun fly but as in your case i'd like to have situational awareness especially for paid shoots.

    @jeffhudson1744 6 месяцев назад +1

I can see advantages for both. with the goggles, it keeps all the distractions away. if you need to go through somewhat small openings, I would rather have the goggles. where you are looking is where you are going. don't have to worry about direction of sticks. it flies where you move it too. i areas with lots of things around, like cranes, the rc might be a better option.

This is a great demo! I paired my Air 3 with my Avata 2 goggles. It certainly works, but when I fly the regular drone I go greater distances and I like to have the situational awareness and all of the flight data on the screen of the controller. Also like to switch between focal lengths with Air 3, something that I cannot do with the goggles.

Actually you CAN fly the Mini3 Pro and the Mavic 3 with the Goggles 2 and a remote such as the DJI RC, RC Pro, etc. First you pair the goggles 2 with the Mini3 pro as well as your controller (only need to do this step once). Then, you will notice you cannot arm or take off with the controller if your Goggles are powered on. You then power off the Goggles 2, arm and then launch the Mini 3 pro. Then power the goggles back on. Bingo- you are now controlling the Mini 3 pro with your remote, and viewing in the Goggles 2. This may also work with the Integra, but I don't have those.

Can you use head tracking with the normal remote? Or is that only possible with the motion controller? That would be awesome because I think the tilt slider is at an awkward position on the controller, so it's difficult to make smooth tilt adjustments while also using both sticks.

Coming from a photographer point of view: Flying with the goggles is nice for flying to/from location, and maybe for exploring a location. But as for the photography tasks; composition, focus, proper exposure, white balancing, panorama, exposure bracketing, multiple shots, etc. - well, that wouldn't feel natural nor comfortable. For all intents and purposes, the RC screen is functionly the same as my camera screen when it comes to taking picture: I need the view, the data and accessing the settings parameters.

In the 'Settings>Control>, when scrolling down, the selecting box would jump from 'Gimbal Calibration' to 'Goggles Tutorial' and skip 'Units' even though the 'Units' is not grayed out. I wonder if the current firmware version has a bug and a version older should be loaded instead.

YOU CAN use the normal controllers? Finally!
I'm buying the goggles next month. Done, DJI this is all you had to do.
And yet another example of why the visual line of sight rule is ridiculous and needs to be stripped from the law.
Technically, nobody can fly this drone with the goggles, because then you have 0 visual line of sight.
Since, in their infinite stupidity, the lawmakers decided that the onboard cameras on the drone "doesnt count".
Imagine if DJI had to mention that in their Goggles 3 marketing material?
"Buyers be aware, you're all not allowed to use the Goggles by law, but please buy them anyway"
Technically the Avata is also illegal to fly, since you again, cant have VLOS with goggles on.
And fun fact, of course the camera-passthrough that the Goggles 3 (or the Meta ones have), also "doesnt count" as visual line of sight. Because of course it doesnt count, to the absolute clueless suits writing the laws. Sigh, one day we'll get drone laws that make sense..
And sure, of course we can all say "who cares, nobody will enforce that".
But the point is, then it should NOT be written into the law.

The Avata 2 and the goggles 3 aren’t “Illegal” you just have to personally have a visual observer with you. It Takes 2 people to fly FPV. People on YT used to stress this all the time. But it’s not always practical to get someone to go with you and just stare at your drone while you have fun. So they just say they have one and don’t worry about it.

DJI needs to have both screens (controller and goggles) active at the same time. And allow the operator to control the drone from either screen. They need to integrate the controller and goggle systems better.
