- Yes, I'm Back, and only 12 weeks after Spinal Fusion Surgery
This Video is dedicated to my acclaimed Spinal Surgeon, Mr Palaniappan (Pal) Lakshmanan, Consultant Spinal Surgeon and his team. Thanks also for the amazing care I received from the entire team of dedicated staff at "Spire Washington Hospital"
Without Pal's incredible surgical skills performed on my spine and the dedication to his amazing work, my Sea Kayaking days would have certainly been over… ending a big part of my life, which I love!
Thanks also, to my wife Shirley who constantly supports and looks after me despite my many moods, she puts up with so much!
It's also been amazing and very humbling the support and encouragement received from my family, friends, Kayaking friends and wider Kayaking community from all over the world, those touching comments have helped my recovery so much…

I had a spinal surgery as well several years ago and kayaking is the main element to maintain my mobility. Glad you were able to restart this early. Kepp on going. Wish you a good recovery and many more of your fantastic videos. See you on the water some time 😊

But hey, Skye will beat it hands down! I love paddling Skye and the West Coast is magnificent 👌 you're certainly spoilt for choice in most wind/swell directions.

Currently waiting for our ferry at Aberdeen to Shetland, I'll probs get a few days paddling with the locals I made great friends with last year but it's primarily a touristy holiday for Shirley and I...with an obligatory paddle or two 😂😂

Doing just fine and back out when I can. Up on Shetland for the next couple of weeks and had a short solo trip a couple of days around St Ninians. Magic 😃
Good to see you back on the water. Had major heart surgery in the fall of 2017, and the only thing that kept me going was planning my next kayak trip! By summer 2018 ... yay! Back at it! Again, so good to see you back at it! Keep paddling!!!
Hi Tip and thanks for the well wishes, its appreciated. Yes, I'm sure you are right, if we have a purpose in life its the perfect way forward to recovery, we "make it happen" which is exactly what you did too!!
That's another huge plus for kayaking, getting us out for exercise in a wonderful healthy environment 😃😃😀 and good for the soul 👍
I'll be keeping at it for as long as I can.
Currently on holiday in Shetland with my wife and had a fabulous solo trip 1st day on the islands...video to follow soon!!

@@geoffburke Yes, I need some cold weather gear. Mind you at about 8C I wasn't cold on the water. Though I have added a thin T-shirt over the top of my thin singlet. Still in rugby shorts. Getting soft.😉
17 kms and survivng a surf dumping? Certainly passed the fitness test 👍
Hi Bev, yes I'm just about out of the other side with recovery and looking forward to some multiday trips when I return from Shetland.
