Fast charging doesn't hurt the battery if you cap it at 80 percent. I have my S22 Ultra set to automatically stop at 80 percent. I have been fast charging my phone everyday for almost a year. And I've noticed no degradation in the battery

One major gripe I've consistently heard about A53 over long term use is the rather noticeable performance slip. Most users have noticed significant performance dip with lagging response times for unlocking phone, launching apps, navigation etc.

If you're coming from a slower phone you'll not notice the lag. I certainly notice it. Touch tap sensitivity is bothersome as I have to wait sometimes 20 seconds or so before it registers tap in games. My older LG V40 Snapdragon 845 was always instant. No wait on tapping.
Sending icons and messages spellchecker (autocorrect) is same . A53 I have to tap up to 2-3 or 4x before it fills in my sentences or adds an icon 😃
It's not a deal breaker if you can get the phone for half price as the camera's and battery life are exceptional.
I turned off animations so it appears faster but still has touchscreen responsiveness hiccups.. but I'll live with it and hope a future update fixes or helps that issue.. Battery life is just phenomenal if you're out hiking for the day.

Changed to this phone about 1 month ago because my A7 sadly died. Maybe it's just me who's not used to newer phones but I certainly noticed that it seems to be slower than my A7 was! It feels bloated too. I honestly don't need half the apps that you cannot remove... Maybe it's just that my settings are not yet optimized. Great camera and battery life though, and a sleek design, as you mentioned. But the removal of the headphone jack sucks, in my opinion. I will be getting an adapter...

This device A 535g shown, shoots many better photos often than even the s22 series and I mean all of them. The battery life is insane by reviews ...I could care less about brightness beyond 700 or 800 nits. This is also a larger bezel which I prefer. I like a little bit of bezel for touch resist and actually like the outline. I did NOT buy the s22. It was given to me because I like phones and help family and friends with their repairs and etc. Blown away and humbly thankful ,however I still tell people aside from updates , my pixel 4xl runs a little bit faster and that's with animations to 0.5....Samsung has many features and huge firmware so I get it. The display is nice but honestly I like the pixel 4xl size and software much more so, if I were to buy a phone between A 73 or 53 5g recent or s22 or plus I'd put my money on the A series. Way too close in cameras and way way better battery. I dare say, I like the look of the A series far better. That's just me. Again I'm not knocking the s22 base of plus. I'm knocking the choice of watered down flagships. They both should have had 1440p displays. At least 90 hertz on the base and 120 on the plus. Samsung is losing its mind but if anyone is on the fence and not worried about what others think of the phone you own , get the A series. Battery life was the issue with most on the S series. Although I do get 6.5 hours SOC on mine it's not any better than my 3 year old pixel 4xls or 7t. Also note, The wifi is way worse holding signal on the s22 than my pixel or 7t. I have too many spots where data doesn't auto connect fast enough or wifi 6 drops to reg wifi causing stops and reload times. This might be me needing a reset ? I don't know. Odd. None of my previous devices had this bad of connection issues.

Been using mine for almost 2 years. Happy with the phone itself, but the main problem for me is the perfomance. I don't game graphic intense games or something, but the UI and apps lag from time to time. Also, the battery seems to discharge A LOT faster now, but that could be because of my 25w charger, but now I'm using the battery protection setting on. No issues what so ever with the camera or the phone build, just mainly with the perfomance issues.

Thanks for taking your time to do a review on this phone, which I bought on a Black Friday sale on Amazon last year. -- I would back up everything you say here, except for one thing. I find the camera simply substandard. I used to use a Galaxy S8 and found its optics simply outstanding. The A53 5G, on the other hand, delivers grainy, indistinct photographs (although looking at the prospective photo through the screen makes it look like you are about to take a masterpiece photograph). I didn't realize how important good photos are to me until I bought this phone, in fact. Now I know. I will probably use it for a while longer before upgrading to a phone that takes clear razor-sharp unpixellated photos. I have to say, I am disappointed in the phone.

I tend to upgrade phones about every two or three years. The last several I've had all had a form of fast charging. It hasn't damaged the batteries more than the typical battery degradation with normal charging. One example I gave my mom the Moto G Fast I had several years ago. My brother happened to buy the same model about a year later. My brothers hasn't 6"turbo charged" more than a few dozen times. The one I gave my mom has been fast charged hundreds of times. There is basically no difference in the battery degradation of either. I'll continue to monitor as this is the first "super fast charging" I've used. It kinda cracks me up that it literally says "super fast charging" when first plugged into a 25 watt charger lol

Won one of these recently from eBay from a reputable phone shop in New York. For $235.00. Yes there's thousands of better smartphones out there. But to get a Samsung product for barely over $200. That's a whole different ball game. This is a great phone. Especially if you can find one for under $250.00. Too many picky folks out there. The haters make me laugh. Complaints on gaming for example. Christ sakes, it's a phone. Get a gaming laptop/computer. Other complaints, it's not super fast responsive like other Smart phones out there. Really? Well, I'm guessing you thought this was going to perform like a $2000 phone 😂 The performance is top notch. I have no issues with it. Sure some people need to do work/multi task. Again, I just treat these gadgets as a phone and bonus to have a very nice camera too. Etc.
For gaming, doing business work, multi tasking etc. Get a laptop. Plus bigger screens for multi tasking is healthier on the eyes.

Just get an s22 because u can find that for under $400 and the s21 ultra for slightly $400 I'd side with the s21 ultra a bit more than the s22 because it has a better camera, spen support, better display, better battery life, and significant heat but much less than the s22 processor on the flip side the s22 has 1 more year of support as it came out a year later but the s21 ultra isn't ending anytime soon u still have 2-3 more android updates realistically speaking 2 more u can stretch onto 3ʳᵈ year while almost 4 more years of security updates so u shouldn't be concerned and the 1 more year of support shouldn't be your buying decision if u want a smaller and more compact than consider the s22 else go with the s21 ultra there is no competition to these 2 phones even in the $5 or the $6 range these phones are a killer the s21 ultra gets the s22 ultra treatment for a much less price making it the best overall value. I'd say skip the upper mid-range phone and try to go with a slightly older flagship phone or a current entry-level flagship because mid-range phones have nowhere near the gaming the flagship does and the closest u can get is an a73 with SD 778 which I on par with 855 more so 855+ 855 vs 855+ less than a 5% gap so yeah but the s10 still dominates the a73 since the processor isn't everything it also has other factors to making it better gaming such as 855 is more efficient. I'd even consider getting any of the s10 series over current upper mid-range phones. I say just get rid of their upper mid-range a series and sell their last year's flagship for around that price on their official website.

One word sums up why I'd never get this phone Exynos. Those processors are hot garbage. Samsung should completely discontinue them and use either snapdragon or mediatek dimensity processors instead. Because performance is a major thing to get wrong. There are so many phone even in the $300-350 price range that offers much more smooth and reliable performance. Whatever pros it has, the Exynos processor is a deal breaker.

I had this phone it's terrible do not buy it. It's slow, clunky and why Samsung thought it was a good idea to have such a large screen and low power processor combo can only be described as a way to con people into thinking these a good performing phones. Things like the NFC Google wallet fail half the time, the processor gets stuck and then 7 things happen at once. Terrible all round. I thought it would be half decent but I'll never get an A series again, maybe even not a Samsung again, been using S phones since the S5. Android has become very bloated and clunky.
