Four "Modern" BMW's That WILL Appreciate In Value

- In today's video, we'll be diving into four modern BMW's that I genuinely believe will appreciate in value over the next 4-8 years. I thought about this list quite extensively and I'm confident that what's discussed in this video will represent an accurate correlation toward future market values. When I say modern, I'm also referring to BMW's of the 2008+ era as most of them can still be picked up for a decently reasonable price point in today's market. As always, if you enjoyed this video please make sure to hit that like button and subscribe for more great content!

E63 M6 AND E60 M5 will categorically be legends of the future. The engine is INSANE. If you haven't driven one you just won't understand
couldn’t agree more
drove my grampas m5 and shit my pants
I agree with you. I would add the M2 CS in that list as well
That’s a great one, forgot to mention it!
I love my M2, and honestly want one of those new M3s. Good channel man, I’ve been following you on my other channel before I started making videos!
You mentioned the E92 however I think the E90 M3 will appreciate even more in value considering the production numbers.
good call - can already tell they are starting to hold their value very well/are appreciating
You’re so right and on target from my perspective. I also might include the 1 series manual with the m sport package and or the 1 series m. How important in your opinion, is -with the e92m3-that it be manual and competition package? I have both with mine but would have bought a clean manual without the competition package.
Got an E60 M5 2 years ago super clean, full white leather, only 53k kms. Now have done rod bearings, clutch, flywheel, vanos, etc. planning to keep it as long as I can. I am also a long term owner (15 years) of a R34 GTT. Love the old cars, they have some character.
HEY BUD GREAT VID!! WHAT DO THINK ABOUT THE 2011-2013 335is. LOW PRODUCTION CAR🤔! KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK!👊
Excellent informative video. In the UK only 1% of F80/F82 Competition pack cars have manual gearboxes. Great cars, super rare and lighter than a CS.
Another car that should’ve been on this list is the e92/93 335is. It had all the LCI upgrades with the N54 and a DCT instead of the 6 speed auto. You could also get them in manual but they are really hard to find. Low production numbers plus a very unique engine/drivetrain pairing will make these very desirable in the future. Clean ones are already going for 25k+ and even the clapped ones are in the 13-18k range which is definitely above the pricing for an equivalent 335i of that generation
M2CS is the one to watch.
Awesome content !!
Appreciate that a ton!!
Exactly why I scooped a highly desired spec E92 last spring. Great, great drivers car.
Couldnt agree with you more!
S65 Baby...It makes all the new M3's sound like lawnmowers.
Good examples of the E60 M5 and E63 M6 will go up in value too even if they’re SMG. A lot of ppl may hate on that transmission, but there are just too little manual versions of this car in existence for only the manuals to appreciate. Manuals are definitely the best, but just finding a good, clean example of one will be hard to do in the coming years, so SMGs are still good
“The red headed step child”😂 love the videos bro. Don’t have a BMW anymore but I still enjoy watching the content you make!
Appreciate you sticking around bro 😂 Merry Christmas as well!
@@SimplyCarThings Happy Holidays bro!
Love the vids
thank you so much!!
Great video! Now that you have had an f82 for a while what’s ur opinion of it compared to an e92. Maybe a video?
I’d like to make a video on this! Would be a great topic
I think if it gets old enough the M140i will get big value too. One of the last 6 cyl engines and also only one in its class with one. I could be wrong but who doesn't want RWD and a 6 cyl in a hatchback. Love my M140i !
Especially if it’s a manual.
Very interesting video bro. There's an even more rare variant of the M4 GTS: the BMW M4 GTS Coupe DTM Champion Edition. Only 200 of them were made. The cheapest that I can find here (in Germany) is 130.000 euros... Not sure if they were ever offered in NA. Cheers buddy
The gts is still depreciating
Bro, the M2 CS is a no brainer. A real modern gem ///M car!!
Really nice M cars when prices have bottomed are always good news and great drivers cars particularly in manual form.
Hey I agree and would add the F01 750i .
2:58 LITERALLY ME!
• 2008 E90 M3 6 Speed Manual
• 54,000 Miles
• 10,000 Mile refurbished S65 from Germany
•Carbon Black
• Tastefully modded (none irreversible & still have all the OEM parts)
But I’m never selling! 🤤🤣
Bro that LS blue competition e92. Gorgeous.
Seriously agree, it’s stunning
Pretty shocked not to see M2CS on this list - it's winning awards left and right this year, by far the most driver-oriented car BMW's made in the last decade and might be the last M car with normal grilles (if the G8x sickness spreads to the rest of the lineup)
The m2cs is like 100k
I think a few cars listed are obvious choices only because of their stature (m4 GTS). But cars like the e92 will hold value for very different reasons. I had an e60 m5 but will never buy one again and I feel like there are too many other issues that go wrong besides the SMG transmission. It’s left a bad taste with a lot of enthusiasts over many years. One car I’d buy over any mentioned is the M coupe with the s54 engine. Very few great examples left. Good video!
thank you! I agree, with the E60 that’s why i’d go for a manual (for obvious reasons) but also because it eliminates like half the common issues with the car.
2013 335is owner here. I’m surprised the iS didn’t make the cut. Only 3900 ever made. Only 500 models with the red Dakota leather. The only people selling them have the model with no IDrive.
I agree with you man, you have the same taste and knowledge as me, I will keep my 35K mile Manual coupe E46 ///M3 for as long as I can!
Thanks man! Wow, that’s a collector’s gem right there hold onto it! And take it out every now and then to enjoy :)
I wish I had patience like you.
I couldn’t own such a beautiful car and not drive it
I highly agree with the m3, the last coupe 3 series as well. But the 135is or 335is weren’t mentioned fam 😿
Nice video but my opinion “who cares what’s worth what buy what you like and enjoy the hell out of it.. buying a nice machine and hibernating it for value..as 2020 shows us you could be dead tomorrow then what” great video tho keep up the good work 👍🏽
All very true.
M4 gts is already selling for over $150,000 in Europe, up to $225,000. None available under original MSRP.
Just a matter of time here...
I also agree about the prior statement on the M2 cs.
Thank you, yes M2 CS is a great car to add to the list as well
I have an incredibly clean completely stock base manual e92 with only 25k miles. It’s silverstone metallic, so not the most desirable color, but I love it nonetheless.
Not the Z4m Coupe? I had a Manual M6, and it was epic for sure
What do you think about black-on-black 335IS convertible, 65000 miles well-maintained DCT transmission with FBO is worth?
The 2018 M2 (Lci) & blackshadow edition/ lightweight edition will Appreciate crazily
do you see m235i going up in the future? I see a lot of older models going for way more than what I paid for my blue 16” model
What about other e9x m3 variants like the e93 and e90? Well kept low mileage examples will also appreciate maybe not as much as the e92.
Mercedes 😜
Agree with your list Omar, don't think we ever got a manual V10 in the UK. ☹️
Oh wow! I wasn’t aware of that, I guess manuals are limited to the NA market
No we didn’t, or the F10 M5... it was DCT only here
M3 e92 aye very nice car I'm glad I got a clean one
M2 Competition is already holding its value well and it's still in production. Depending on final production numbers, the M2C may outperform all the cars on your list.
I agree
Wait wait wait what about the 11-13 BMW 335is, that car isn’t a real M car but it is super rare especially the 6 speed manual, you can find a lot of bmw m3 compared to the 335is, there’s probably like 1-2 manual ones for sale in the entire us, and that car is very tuneable and with a couple of mods faster than the M3 e92
Nope. No one remembers non M cars, not even the 330i ZCP E46.
@@divimport2 m power is ok , you have go rev it to top end to enjoy , where my 335i e93 (manual) is no slouch, couple of subtle mods can take it go 410 bhp, the twin turbo n54 can show the m cars,it means business........
@@sohalemaqsood572 We don’t buy naturally aspirated M cars for straight line speed. We’d all be in F80s otherwise.
@@divimport2 no fun in straight line , the magic is on bends & twists & right foot skill, I agree........
I think what a lot of people don't understand is that to have a car appreciate in value you can't really drive it. Needs to sit in a garage and be driven very seldom. You certainly mentioned this near the start of the video. If you are enthusiastic about these cars and want to put miles on the might HOLD its value, but unless something really strange happens your not going to double your money on a "driver."
Yea for sure, it's good you emphasized it. I don't mean to mislead anyone
Nice list, but there’s a bunch of annoying negative comments. Your content is so wholesome I don’t get it
Does this apply to the 335i too?🤔
E92 m3, and OG m2 LCI are my picks.
Imagine if the f8x sounded like the e9x m3 😍
The m4 DTM championship addition is more exclusive
Any NA powered M car from the days when there was only like 4 M models a year is going to be worth something. Even SMGs
My opinion to M4 GTS, probably only unique point is it’s BMW tuned for you,
but seeing all its unique parts you can pretty much find them all in the OEM parts and install on your F82 M4 but without burn your ability to use it as commute daily
If there is any reason the makes M4 GTS raise its value, probably only because it’s rare
What about the M2 Comp?
Love my e92 m3
I bet, they’re sweet cars
E92 technically isn’t the first m3 with a V8. E46 M3 GTR had one. But I think that was super limited.
For sure i agree, although as you stated production of the GTR was extremely limited and the engine was not a production powerplant, rather the P60 motorsport V8. So while it’s an amazing collector car, I don’t think it’s accurate to include it in a list such as this or consider it in the same lineup
I sadly don’t see any F82 increasing in value at all. Especially with the M4 CS being out for a couple years as well, that kind of changed the game in terms of the F82 GTS and F82 value in general. Maybe the M2 CS will. Only F8X car that will retain value will be an individual color AND a manual transmission. With that said, the M3 was made for only 4 years while the M4 was in production for 7 years, I only think the M3 will barely hold its value more.
you forgot a couple like z4m - 1m - m2 cs - and of course and m3 e46 csl, but if i have to choose 4 i will choose exactly the same of your
I think it's hard to put the 1M in a video like this at this current time since it seems to ALREADY be appreciating a lot. So while I agree it will likely still go up, I think the video for that prediction should have been made a few years ago, if that makes sense. Also I think I would have put the M2 CS in THIS video.
@@saganworshipper6062 Exactly why I left the 1M off the list haha, E46 CSL, and Z4M i wouldnt consider “modern” anymore also which is why i left them out.
@J B Wow, finding a 1M here in the states for $36k is impossible. That's very surprising they dipped that low in Australia!
BMW E92 is a beautiful machine.
E92 M3’s are special cars with that N/A V-8 being it’s heart and soul. The new cars will never sound as good, same goes for the GT3 vs all the turbocharged 911’s made now.
The most important point to be made is that the E90 M3s and the M5 and M6 are the last M specific built engines made by the brand. All subsequent M cars have regular BMW engines that are basically better “chip” cars to make them generate more power. The M division no longer builds separate engines for the Brand.
Are you serious? No more “S” engines?
M4 GTS here at the moment on the low end starts at £80k english pounds and on average sits around £100k. One with very low miles are still fetching £120k So they didnt lose much money here really.
you forgot about the 335i with an n54. it’s a modern day 2jz with power outputs of upwards of 700 wheel horsepower. it’s basically an m3 without the headaches
No he didn’t. They are about as common as an asshole. Everyone has one and the fact that they have been tuned to 700 Hp makes them even less collectable.
Stock, unique cars in their pure form like mentioned are collectable. None the less an awesome engine. I’ve had one in a 135 and 335. Very easy to extract power from these motors.
For real those are stupid common not rare at all
Oh wow, i've never heard of the N54 engine. I just looked it up on wikipedia and i'm extremely impressed! it really is a modern 2JZ. Why would anyone buy an M3 actually? haha dang
Anything limited edition and low miles, in original, unmodified condition should retain a substantial amount of its value. Cars like the Lime Rock edition E92, E46 M3 CSL, F82 M4 GTS, M4 Heritage Edition...these cars may do pretty well down the road just because of limited numbers.
totally agree with you 👍
Still think the 1M is going to be rare enough that it will be in the mix of appreciating cars. Don't see the E60 cars going up in value very much.
Um ... reliability problems will be the main factor to consider. Here in Australia where we got the e36 m3 euro. Prices are so expensive to the point where there on par with the e39 M5. These two legends are bullet proof compared to the s65 and s85
Those aren't modern BMW's lol, so that's why I didn't include them on the list.
335is 2011 - 2013 🤔
135i in a Manual have been going up already
E92 335is?
The e92 335i with a manual trans is going up in value too I feel like...
I agree with you, it's a great car with an outstanding engine. I always prefer a convertible as a modern classic in view of the reduced usage it will get.
Perhaps also the overlooked 135, again as a convertible with manual gearbox, particularly as there wasn't a 1M convertible.
Should have never sold mine
Just my opinion but I feel like the e90 sedan will appreciate more than the e92 coupe, only because they were produced in far fewer numbers. Only 21ish% of the north American cars were sedans. www.m3post.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=899455&d=1376330183
And a manual sedan is a rare bird indeed.
I totally agree with you, I forgot to mention it in the video but when I referred to the E92, I also meant to include the E90 as well 😂
Depending on where you live the e93 is one of those as well...im in san diego, CA and convertibles are popular
@@MrFootballwestcoast converts on M3s are the least desirable.
@@grayantihero6059 all comes down to preferences like i said....im in cali theres alot of verts here. But thats cool I dont want to be like everybody else anyway
@@grayantihero6059 i see more e93 m3s than e90 m3
Damn I had a alpine white 6spd manual e92 M3 with all the right options and I had to let it go
My friend has a 2011 E90 335i xdrive but it's the N55 not N54 and it has a factory M-sport package but it also has the 20hp upgrade option added from the factory and it has a "performance edition" badge on the trunk, which I think is pretty rare. Anyone else have one of these cars?
335s won't be worth jack in the future.
@@grayantihero6059 They'll be worth more than my N52 328xi lol
@@saganworshipper6062 It's the last 3L NA 6 cylinder engine from BMW, and the highest rated horse power ever seen in an non-M car (40bhp over E46 330). I feel those cars will have a cult following, however ones value will probably be very much dependent on other options that follow it: manual, RWD, M-Technic aero.
@@idokwatcher2062 Are you talking about my E90? Lol. I hope you're right. Mine is pretty much stock. Tinted windows, an M shifter on my 6MT, and some genuine BMW aluminum racing pedals. That's about it for upgrades. I've only got 89k on the clock and it has been babied since I got it 2 years ago. The first thing I did was get the best (at the time) professional ceramic coating on it (Opti-Coat Pro+ which can only be applied by a certified installer, cost me $1k and that was a deal from a friend) so the Jet Black paint is in perfect condition. Also it was a one owner car before I got it, oddly it was from a woman in her 50's and she had all the recalls done and all the regular service done at the dealer. So I'm just the second owner. I also changed the accessory belt/pulleys, new plugs and coils, and nothing but Shell 93 gas and Liqui-Moly synthetic since I got it. So far, knock on wood, it has been completely reliable and still drives like a new car. I probably over-paid at the time ($7900 with 75k miles) but it was exactly what I wanted, and the fact it was a one owner with no accidents really sold me. I think those things will help me get the most for it when I do decide to sell it eventually. I may upgrade the headlights next and possibly throw some coilovers on it but I want to keep it pretty much stock. Manuals in a 4 door are hard to find nowadays too.
What modern BMW's That WILL depreciate In Value?
I agree with everything except the m6
Andrew, how can you agree with the M5 E60 and not the E63 M6. It’s the exact same drive train?
@@davidsalem2896 Yea haha I was thinking the same thing? 😆
RUclipsrs that will appreciate in subs: ofc its you :)
Those are some very kind words my friend, thank you! 🙏🏼
I just subscribed! Very informative.
You forgot to add the 1M to the list
The 1M is already 60-80k
The 1M is already proving on to be on the rise in value! Imagine in another 10 years…
value yes but too many cars and not many buyers
🏎🏎🏎
You missed the obvious. It has already began raising. Is super rare, you never see them, probably have never seen one in person. A Z4M coupe. The last M car to be offered with only a manual transmission. Only around 2000 made worldwide. Small, fast, unique. Ultimate BMW. A few years ago they were going mid 20's for something with 30-40k miles on it. Go look for one now!
They’ve already appreciated a significant amount. I think his video was in search of modern BMW’s that haven’t began their climb in value just yet. And in the description he says the list includes BMW’s only from 2008+
That is a fantastic car! Still a good buy even in today’s market
@@14nightwolves The z4mc is no older than the e63 m6.
N52 E90 330xi is currently rising in value.
Cause it's simply the most reliable while packing up a decent amount of fun. More so than any turbocharged variant.
The 1M
Definitely you never see them but the engine isn’t very special it’s a regular n54
How about f13?
that’s a good question bro, personally i don’t see them going up in value much really. Maybe a manual (which is extremely rare on the F13) with low miles will appreciate a bit or at least hold its value. But I don’t see a whole lot from the car in terms of an investment
My sister owns an M3 e92 with only 16k miles!
Is she married?
F10 M5 30 year anniversary
What about M235i and M240i?
unfortunately i don’t see either of those cars appreciating in value to be completely honest
@@SimplyCarThings gotcha, well atleast I hope they wont depreseat much, I drive m235i.
M2C
335is or z4 35is
1M
I think the 1M has possibly peaked in value already. If that’s not the case I don’t see the value increasing much to be completely honest. I think most 1M’s have appreciated significantly already and that car never really lost its value from the start.
335i coupe lci will go up they're rare
I've now had an e60 M5 6-speed for 7 years and it has NOT been a maintenance hog like everyone says. It's always been an extremely reliable car and I would highly recommend one.
What a gem, must be an absolute joy winding out that V10 paired with a 6 speed gearbox & 3 pedals
i dont see the m6. they are still tanking in value.
True. You can pick up a nice for like 60k
In the future a manual V10 M6 will be much more expensive than it is now, i’m almost certain it will
Been calling you for over a year..
1M ?
Over rated car
1M coupe all day
WTF is that GTS pricing? I‘m not saying you‘re not right, I don‘t know the US prices, but that thing in new ish conditions costs 120-150.000€ ( 145-182.000$ ) in germany! 🤣
1M modern enough
Do you think the 335is could go up in value eventually?
No way are these cars going up in value. Only the E90 and earlier have a chance, and that is only if they show up in a Fast and Furious movie. And mainly that is because they are worth nothing now.
ok 👌
Anything with an M badge. You're welcome.
M2 will be a future classic, the last real BMW M car
Electronic steering, electronic throttle with lag, turbo lag, runs out of steam at 5500RPM well below the redline like some sad diesel. I have no doubt someone will value them, but other's will look elsewhere for the "last real M car" (e.g. ITB instant throttle response, 8200RPM redline, hydraulic steering)
@@idokwatcher2062 there is virtually zero turbo lag, its a dual scroll turbo, electric steering isn't numb like most, its surprising responsive, redline is 7,600 rpm same has the M3 and M4
Oh you were talking about the M2 Competition
M4 bias at all? No 4 series/m4 will become a “classic” sorry brah
The sad fact is that, all these cars are gonna be fossils in a few years time. If I had a couple grand lying around I’d invest in an electric car - no oil changes, oil leaks, vanos solenoid issues, misfiring cylinders, con rod bearing failures, faulty O2 sensors, busted catalytic converters... I could go on and on
GTFO
Kunamutas is that all you have? Lmao 😂 you know I’m right!
invest in an EV? lmfao, EV's will be about as worthless as an iPhone from a few years ago in the way that their values will tank. I could write an essay on this but i'd rather utilize my time for something else 🤣
Of course “You Will Learn” comes into the comments spewing know it all bs lmao
Tim Brazil, Embracing change can be a bit traumatic for some people. The top car players such as Mercedes, BMW, Audi etc are all heading towards the EV route - that should tell you something. One more thing, petrol heads are a dying breed. I’ll say no more.
