Great videos Mattiboo...many people don't realize the Beatles were a primary two guitar, one bass, one drummer band...playing this tune shows their early days...playing solid R&R. They knew how to R&R from an early age. George and John...both guitar masters!
This is one of my favorite George lead's as well. His playing during the verses are a lesson on how to weave licks in between the singer while the solo is pure George. I don't know of any other guitar player that uses the pentatonic scale in such a unique way, with all of the bends and unconventional phrasing. I appreciate your comment as you have some classic videos yourself and I love your vids with the blonde '64 Fender Bassman!
You nailed every last part of it - the masterful bass lines and bass solo, obviously all rhythm sections, but what I'm most impressed by is the way you caught every place george went on that day (he was on fire) pitch perfect and you even made me discover some hidden little licks in it (00:21-00:24 - I almost came ! So simple yet so well felt, like by someone who truly knows his country/rock and roll, and who's giving you every trick in the book, one by one, balls out). Haven't ever heard a better beatles' cover than yours man. Amazing and keep them coming !
Matty, Matty, Matty...I can't tell you how much I love this video. While it was never my "favorite" Beatles song (could there be just one?), it is without a doubt my favorite Mattiboo video. I watch it over and over. What I do is punch up the original on my iTunes and play it simultaneously in perfect synch with this version so I can fade back and forth. It. Is. Amazing. Matty, you are the best at this. I am such a fan. No one puts as much effort into these recreations as you. ...And not just musically! I have to mention the awesome video cuts towards the end, especially as Ringo hits the cymbals. Great job all around! So entertaining and educational at the same time. You are one friggin' talented individual, bud! To listen to these songs...songs I thought I knew!...with such a new ear...incredible! Aside from all the gazillion words that've been written about them, The Beatles were first and foremost a great *band*. This song proves it.
Thank you for your great comment! I'm glad that you enjoyed the playing along with the video production. It is a tall order to recreate these Beatles songs and I approach my projects with great reverence to the music. Comparing my videos side by side to the original Beatles recording is the ultimate test and I'm glad I passed the audition!
mattiboo You should record Dig a Pony and Ive got a feeling, with the casino and the telecaster i know would sound great 👍🏼 Perdon por el ingles soy de México 😂
Great job, Matt! That was so much fun to watch. Thanks for sharing all your great videos with us. I hope you do all of the rooftop songs as full band videos. I am especially looking forward to "Don't Let Me Down". I have been in awe of Billy Preston's keyboard work at the end of that song since I first heard it.
Hi Matt, You could write a PhD thesis on this stuff! Your work shows great skill, detailed knowledge of the songs and techniques, and you have a terrific guitar collection. Keep up the awesome work! Cheers, James
I spent a good amount of time at Guitar Center playing that exact model tele, it is fantastic! Super jealous haha. Energetic cover! More playing to ya!
That was brilliant. Thank you. I just wish that you had shown all the parts in the whole video (i.e., had the four parts, each in a small window, like you did at one point). That solo of George's is amazing, and yet in the film they pan away from it.
I am slowly coming around to the idea of a Tele - they do seem to be very versatile. Must research whether there are any humbucker/ split-coil versions (copies, I am afraid) - I really like the Epiphones that do this.
This tele is one of the best I've seen too! The full name is a mouthful: Fender Limited Edition American Standard Telecaster Rosewood Neck Surf Green and Mint Green Pickguard. There is a really unique combination of features on this guitar: Surf Green and oil finished Rosewood neck = Awesome!
Love it so much this is my second or third comment. Many thanks. Would love to see a re-editing in which you include the video to George's part in full.
That tele though 😍.. rosewood is by far my favourite. it drys out fast though. but an all rosewood tele would be amazing. nice looking guitar!! and nice song choice. my favourite song lol
The Rosewood neck does not have any lacquer on it. It plays very smooth, with very little resistance. The Tele is the ultimate in clear sound! Every note comes through!
mattiboo I have to have lacquer on my necks. I personally like how smooth it feels and then later on in life how much wear is on it. Looks great lol. Did George's all rosewood have lacquer on it? I can't remember but I'm pretty sure it does
Those old Teles and Strats for the 50s and 60s do look cool when some of the lacquer wears off. George's was lacquered as well. the Harrison Custom Shop model finished the neck and body with a Satin Polyurethane finish. There's a video on RUclips of vintage 1969 Rosewood Telecaster that has a crazy amount of lacquer on the fretboard! Almost Rickenbacker levels :)
Also beautiful gear in all, but I must ask...will you ever get a rickenbacker bass? I'm sure its not that expensive considering you have that awesome hofner and other ric guitars!
Matt, i have been waiting for this cover for a long time from you. Would you please help me with the lead guitar part If you have tabs or something please.
"One After 909" has a bouncy melodic groove. A terrific number to play at parties.
You should consider doing "Happiness Is A Warm Gun".
The Beatles song with ,by far, the most time signature changes
Yes please please happiness Is a warm gun congratulations nice playing
@@tommyhaynes521 Wouldn’t say far from here comes the sun but I get your point
2:42 - Oh Danny Boy, the Ulster men are calling....
"...the pipes, the pipes are calling..."
Old summer LOL
@@drutgat2 John changed the lyrics, don't know why
@@ajhhc Ah. Thanks. I must listen closer.
Ulster is a region of Ireland (the island) which is split between Ireland (the country) and the United Kingdom.
Perfect. I used to think this was the Beatles and you only played the guitar. Really good.
Wow! I played all of the instruments in this video as best I could to emulate The Beatles in the Rooftop Concert!
mattiboo Also, nice guitars!
That was flipping awesome! I told my wife, "this guy did the entire song by himself! He even did the keyboard part by Billy Preston!!"
That's great! Glad you enjoyed the music!
Great videos Mattiboo...many people don't realize the Beatles were a primary two guitar, one bass, one drummer band...playing this tune shows their early days...playing solid R&R. They knew how to R&R from an early age. George and John...both guitar masters!
This Song Has One Of My Favorite Guitar Solos, nice Job Man!!
George's part on this song is just awesome
Very nicely done. Excellent job with the Tele solo. One of my favorites of George's. Love the rosewood headstock, too!

It's like being on the Apple Corps rooftop in London with The Beatles and Billy Preston. Did you let the police in while recording this?
Haha! They didn't have a warrant! :)
Lol!
No, he told the police to get back 😀
Brilliant! Carbon copy keeping the original vivid spirit. Just to add John's and Paul's voices and that's it. Great job!
You left "Oh Danny - the pipes, the pipes are calling "" at the end! LOL - thanks for posting this.
Haha! I'll leave that to anyone that wants to chime in! ;)
Oh Danny Boy, the Ulster men are calling....
As the bridge starts after the lead, you can hear George riffing super quick after 'bags'. Love that.
Fantastic, virtually unrecognizable from the original. You did a great job.
Great cover and beautiful Tele
Great job, you nailed it.
This song has a lot of really Harrison sounding licks in it, so take note if you want beatley sounding lead parts
Love the new Telecaster
Impressive work Matt ... loved this terrific upload!
Cheers, James
Thanks James, coming from another Beatles player such as yourself, that means a lot!

Nailed that guitar solo 👍

Fantastic
Great work. Sounds just like it. Great lead work too.
Is that a new tele? It looks awesome!
Yea! It looks and plays fantastic. Plus it has a Rosewood neck like George's!
mattiboo.
Ive noticed that she's a sonic blue with a rosewood fret board just like George's strat from 65
Before she was Rocky

Very cool. Wish I could do it.
Your mixing skills got way better. And that latency is gone too. You improved a lot man great job!
Thank you! There is no better way to learn how to mix a rock song than by studying George Martin and The Beatles!
Excellent!And nice gear too!!!

Terrific! Enjoyed every note.
Thank you, glad to hear that!
I love this stuff! Keep on Rocking! 👍

Thanks! The shirt looks even cooler in person, you can see the red better!
You should re-record all the songs from the rooftop concert with the new tele.BTW I love the new Tele
Playing this song was a lot of fun! I will definitely get around to them all eventually! :)
Awesome, just like all of your Beatle tune reconstructions!

Nice cover man!!!one of your best ;-)
Wow! Thank you!
All that was missing was the vocals. Nice keyboard accompaniment, and true to the original.
This is awesome! When I asked you if you were getting any new gear, I figured it be a tele! I got a new höfner!
Also do a Bruce Springsteen song now that you have a telecaster
Nice! How do you like your new Hofner?
mattiboo it's of the charts
Very good bro
Bravo!!!!
amazing!
Nice Job!
Thanks!
That's a nice Telecaster!
The keyboards really brings this song around.
in some parts, don't you think it sounds like it's been mixed with The Night Before?
Great Cover, saludos desde México!
