Hi Dom, loved your video as all the previous videos I have seen in your channel. You are an inspiration. I am the mother of a child with autism, currently in the middle of my ABA Masters Program. I cant wait to finish and start working the field and helping my son. Thank you for your inspiration, you rock!!
This was great information. I am really inspired to start my own business. I am in Georgia, and planning on becoming a behavior specialist. Thanks for the information!!
Hey Danette! Thank you for watching and subscribing. I’m so glad you enjoy the videos. I love Georgia BTW. I went to school In SC and would visit Georgia frequently for winter and spring break with friends. Please keep us posted on your journey. Georgia has an amazing BABA community
Dom, thank you sooooo much for your videos!! They are so inspirational! I’m just starting with getting my RBT and you have helped me soo much to stay motivated and looking forward! Keep up the great work! 🤗💕
Thank you so much JeniHer, you’re kind words means so much to me! Congratulations on you’re new RBT journey. Please continue to keep us posted as you matriculate through the field. Thanks again for watching and subscribing 🥰🥰🥰🥰
I’m looking at the school consulting side of things. And I was wondering if you could give some advice on how to set that up. Pricing, what services you offer for consulting with schools. If you could make a video specifically about that part of your consulting with schools.
Great video Dom. Always a lot of information that BCBAs need. Can you continue with this type of videos. Also, can you do a video of how was the first time you went to do an initial eval for a client? Thank you!
Hey Malu! That’s a great idea! I will keep that one in mind. Thank you for your positive reinforcement. I will definitely keep creating 🥰. Thanks for subscribing and watching
Hey Dom! Great video, I am looking into starting my own center based private practice in the future. Can you touch on how you were able to find a partner for your company as well as how to finance/budget paying employees in the beginning as I know insurance doesn’t pay right away.
Hi J Dor, thank you for watching & for your comment. Honestly, my clientele came mostly from world of mouth. I have been in the field for about 10 years and I’ve met a lot of great allies & sponsors who speak on my behalf when I’m not even in the room.
When you start your company how many employees and clients did you have? How many BCBA/BCABA ? How many RBT/BT ? How many General Manger ? How many ppl in HR ?
We started with 2 BCBAs and one credentialing/ billing company. We were the RBTs, HR, trainer. During my second company, I hired another BCBA once my caseload doubled
Word of mouth and who you know is always a great way to get your food in the door. You can also reach out and ask if you can do a free ABA training so that they know what you do and what you offer. Then schedule a meeting to identify if that organization has a need for an independent BCBA contractor for professional development training or ABA therapy
Hey Dom, I'm an #AutismMom that wants to start my own ABA in-home services company. I already own a staffing agency. Any advice? I have a BCBA in my network that's willing to help and multiple RBTs.
So I hired out for that process. I used a BCBA friend who does this with her company. Her name is Kiah Bouie and her company of Beyond ABA, LLC in Chicago. Please tell her Dom the BCBA mom sent you. 😉kiah@beyond-aba.com

That’s a great question. I honestly started my business with $500 in the bank. & thank will cover filing fees, website domain, email, and a few marketing material options. However, more money will give you more access.
Technically you do not. But you do have to have a BCBA to bill for you and supervise your work. If you on track to becoming a BCBA I say focus on that first, then the clinic. It’s so much to learn on the clincal side and on the business side.
Hi Dom, My name is Dominique as well and my 20 month old has been diagnosed with autism. Quick question do you know of any good programs thats online that is cheaper than Chicago School of Psychology? That one is perfect except for the cost. 🙈 any advice is appreciated. Thank you for the uploads
You’d be surprised. Many companies don’t start making a profit until after a few years. But if you get the right contract or a steady flow of private insurance clients, it’s can be pretty profitable
That’s depends… do you plan on doing in-home ABA therapy and going into the client’s home? If so, you don’t really need a location initially because you go to your client’s environment. They will not come to yours. All other intake steps can be done virtually. So yes, you can Definitely start in your home

Sure thing!
what do you think of "success on the spectrum" franchise?
I haven’t heard of them.
@@domthebcbamom6679 they are a aba center franchise. They are mostly in Texas, Georgia, and New Jersey. They have about 30 centers.
How do you get contracts with hospitals and schools?

Thank you for this great video, Dom! I am in the process of deciding whether to do an S Corp or PLLC. Do BCBAs usually get a PLLC?

How much money should you have saved before starting?
That’s a great question. I honestly started my business with $500 in the bank. & thank will cover filing fees, website domain, email, and a few marketing material options. However, more money will give you more access.
Do you have to be a bcba in order to start a clinic?
