      Its not, but for most tinters it would be a bit of work. Thats why only the professional do it the correct way. unless you buy a rear glass from the dealer for $450, then you can use that glass to cut out film and mold. or if you have a plotter ($500-600, you can have it pre-cut. there are many tinters that will cut it in 3 pieces and seam it together on the inside. once you take this apart, it really only takes 15 or less to take apart. some car take longer than that to remove the door panels or rear tray on some vehicles.

    Very helpful video! I would recommend placing a small rag in the opening of the top two LED lights on the hatch to prevent the 10mm nut from accidentally falling into the hatch assembly. If it falls, then you will have to find a clever way to fish it out of there.

      Darth Baiter this was the first time taking this off. I didn’t want to take off more than i had to. I am not sure how that plastic piece comes off and i wasn’t really bending it, because i think there is some sort of clip there. Last thing i want to do is break anything. If you have any insight on how to remove that piece let me know or make a video to show us. Thank you.

    Nice job man.. It's not too bad right, about 10 to 15 minutes but also if you have a plotter you can 2 piece it. The seam is behind the spoiler and on a defrost line. Just shrink the 2 small bottoms on the inside after install

    • @raiderman28

      Yup, buy a plotter and have to pay for the rental of the program monthly. Not many people have plotters. I have been tinting for 28 years and dont have a plotter

    IMPORTANT: There is a washer that comes off also after you take out the wiper motor on the inside, its a large washer, make sure you put that back on. That part got edited out of the video for some reason...sorry the rubber pieces that i had a bit of a hard time taking out on each side of the panel, didn't seem to grab as good when i put them back in. Make sure the little tabs on each one of those are sticking out, so it snaps back into place bettter.

  • @JustCityFolks

    My tint shop skipped all this nonsense by just cutting the tint in half and working the second smaller piece under the spoiler. 2 years in and the tint still holds with no peel or bubbles.

    • @raiderman28
      @raiderman28  2 года назад

      Yes you can do it that way, and seam it together. But thats a short cut. Many tinter take short cuts, because its more work and they are tinters and don’t know how to take stuff apart. Nobody wants a 2 piece back window. If the customer cleans the window going up and down, they can snag the film and it can start to peel. I know this, because i have tinted the way you mentioned on various vehicles over my 28 years of tinting. This way isn’t for anyone taking short cuts, but for anyone wanting to know how to remove the spoiler and do it the right ways. It takes about 12 minutes to remove the spoiler. Some shops do it the way your shop did and charge cheaper. Other shops do it this way and charge an extra $75-100 more. Its also easier to heat shrink, because the spoiler is not in the way.

    Quick question, just took in my Honda Civic hatchback and 3 out of the 4 windows have fairly noticeable dust stuck in the tints. Should I take it back to get it redone?

    • @raiderman28
      @raiderman28  3 года назад

      If its alot of dust, i would take it back and have it replaced. A little dust is normal, but if its alot, then it’s probably a sloppy job or a rookie installer. Alot of mobile tinters, that tint outside have alot of dust issues. I don’t tint outside. I wipe cars down before tinting etc.

    Quick question: I need to replace just the rear garnish piece that the emblem is on due to a tinter scratching it while trying to replace the emblem. To just remove the plastic garnish molding does the wing and everything you took off have to come off or can I just pull the inner door panel and taillights to get the garnish off? Whats the point of this doesn't the tint go on the inside 🤔?

    • @raiderman28
      @raiderman28  3 года назад +1

      If you look at the rear window you can’t cut the tint because the spoiler is in the way, and You can’t cut out the tint on the inside. You also have to mold it on the outside before installing it. This is why you remove the spoiler. Does it make sense now???

  • @nessHappening
    @nessHappening 4 года назад

    You don’t need to remove it to tint it

    • @raiderman28
      @raiderman28  4 года назад +4

      HandsLikeFoxes you don’t have to remove it to actually lay the film down and tint it. But to cut it out and mold it you do. Unless you do a two piece installation ( which is whack). This takes less than 15min to take apart and not have to hassle trying to cut corners to tint it. Shrinking this from the inside is a pain, and bigger chance of creasing the film. I am trying to show how to do this the right way, not a hack way. There are always ways to cut corners. In some cases if it is too difficult to remove something, then i agree. But in this case, it takes a few minutes and makes the job much easier to do and better installation.
      Just like the door windows. On these vehicles, you would be stupid if you didn’t remove the door channels ( lower seal). You don’t even have to take any screws off.
      On the front doors you just pull back on the top parts of the panel, and then you pull out the door seal (10-20 seconds). On the rear doors, similar, but you have to take the plastic little triangle piece off first (20-25 seconds total time)
      This will allow you to cut the film big, go below the seal and never get peeling. Also you don’t have to do a two step installation because there is nothing in the way. This will allow no water to get trapped at the bottom seal ( because you removed it) cleaner installation, and less chance of kinking the sides with a two step installation. You can pull the whole liner off and install film with nothing in the way, and it takes less than 5 minutes to take apart and put back together. When i see guys not pull these seals, it’s because they don’t know how, they are lazy, or they are tint slammer guys that don’t care about how the job comes out, only that they make there $99 as fast as possible. I don’t do $99 tint jobs. These car bring in $295-$350
      They take about 2 1/2 hours.
      But if you want to or have to do it your own way. Good luck
