      Barry and Sweetness had that kind of humble, prove it on the field nature. I think its what made them great. Payton was a bit more boisterous but still carried himself in that same way. They were both class acts.

      He's a bad dude. I'm a Bears fan and I remember Peterson breaking off 200 and 300 yard games in his rookie season. It's so rare in the NFL that a player's the best at his position since his very first game.

    As a 49ers fan, one thing I remember about Emmitt is how he never seemed to take big hits. He just had a knack for turning slightly or getting down the split second before the big hit came. That's got to lead to some longevity..

    I wonder what's the selection process for these roundtables. I love the mix of guys but I think it should be the Top 5 ALIVE all time at each position. Granted that list is subjective but I'm sure there are 4 names that are Undisputed as the best at the position that we can come to a consensus about.

    Walter Payton. The greatest Football player ever. Run, pass, catch, punt, kick, and return. 13 years, missed one game. Did it all with what most stars today don't have. CLASS

    Peterson is the most physically gifted running back to ever play the game. Gale Sayers is close but AD is like Jim Brown and Sayers melted together.

    No running back has a more prolific highlight reel as Barry Sanders. Never a media guy, never celebrated a touchdown. Probably one of the most humble fball players ever. Certainly one of if not the best running back ever.

    Mike Alstott, Marshall Faulk, Terrell Davis, Edgerrin James, Larry Johnson, Jamal Anderson, Jamal Lewis, Fred Taylor, Priest Holmes, John Riggins, Curtis Martin... so many great RBs for career and single season accomplishments just in the last couple of decades. Throw in Marion Motley, Mike and Greg Pruitt, Leroy Kelly, OJ, Herschel Walker, Tony Dorsett, etc the list goes on and on. We’ve been blessed to see such amazing athletes at the RB position over the years. It’s evolved so much lately but these names just can’t ever be replaced or forgotten for what they e accomplished.
