    I have a friend that has attempted to make her barn doors 3 times - all were epic fails. She has the hardware. As a result of this video I have volunteered to make her doors based on your design. She is thrilled! She will do the painting and installation. I have my shopping list and cut list ready. Thank you for sharing your design in such a fun yet thorough video.

    LOL...Lola took Whitney's place today for the comedy. Chewing lumber & when she scooted the tape measure on the door...I just busted! She was trying to help and hinder at the same time!
    Love the modern twist to the door. Great job!!!
    I do have a question about a barn door. I'm building one for my bedroom door, so one side faces the hallway. Do I just put the same trim & a handle on that side too??? Trying not to screw this up and make extra waste, and too much weight. Thanks for any help. Love you gals!

  • @speedracer210

    PRO TIP: when you are making a project that is going to take paint you can use sheetrock joint compound instead of wood filler...it sands easily and takes paint very well.

    Them quads though! How do you see these doing in an outdoor setting? Possible warping... maybe extra diagonal supports on the back would help? I'm needing some lightweight barn doors for outside use with limited room so can't make them to chonky, but I've been struggling with ideas.

    • @shanty2chic
      @shanty2chic  4 года назад

      5ociopathic definitely not good for outdoor because of the plywood! You can use pine boards but make sure to use a good outdoor sealer! Cedar would be great!

    • @galady8632
      @galady8632 4 года назад

      5osiopathic ... although not as attractive maybe consider panel-style aluminum shutters. Weather resistant and you can add extra trim.

    Two Questions: 1: how do you keep sawdust down when you’re cutting on that miter saw in the shop without some elaborate vacuum/filter system? 2: you mentioned nailing the poplar pieces on, did the nails poke out the back? How would you address that?

    I think the issue with that door is probably because it warped. If you used plywood as the backing it will warp when the temp changes in the space. This happened to me I ended up using MDF..

    • @shanty2chic
      @shanty2chic  4 года назад +1

      Rough Around the Edges Design it wasn’t warped at all. It was the weight of the door that was too much for the wheels.
