    I am very happy to see this! So many watercolor artists insist that you should only have split primaries and maybe one or two other colors and if you have anything else you're an actual monster and don't understand color theory. It's a very limiting mentality, in my opinion. These colors are all so beautiful and unique!

Different colors, brands even palette surfaces! I have a 40 well studio palette with my most used paints. I have switched to porcelain plates for specialty paint colors/brands. They stack up easily and storage is not a problem. Thank you for sharing all of your positive painting advice! I still have 1 Grumbacher paint. I have replaced mostly DaVinci in my studio palette removing so many other brands. Love the creations with Cobalt Turquoise because of the beautiful separation and granulation. Just purchased WN Mauve PV16 to see why people rave about it. I was "raised" in the traditional "semi-limited" pallette concept and it took me years to understand why so many pallettes artists were using had over 18 colors. "Never use straight color" was a rule so all the people using convenience colors straight didn't make sense to me. I now understand that we all figure out what works best for what we paint and it is ok to have "just fun" colors lol

I took out my swatches I started picking out my favorite colors, just sensing which colors made me happy regardless of how I would use them. Is the QOR version different than other brands? 2) Also do you think the Mayan Dark is very different than Sodalite? 3) I love the Violet Iron Oxide and Mars Black, which are so great for landscapes. 4) I will have to buy that Florentine Green. No reason for QoRs Titan Buff, just that I had a tube on hand when I poured this palette. Mayan Dark Blue is much more blue and less granulating than Sodalite. Denise has spoken to this in previous videos, I can't remember which ones, but its very good to hear her reasoning and the transparency of her choice.

    • @InLiquidColor
      @InLiquidColor  Год назад +7

      Thanks Kristen and Amanda. There are a lot of reasons. The TL;DR version is that there is very little transparency in brush companies and neither natural or synthetics are "good."
      The longer answer is natural hair is obviously not great for animals, but synthetic brush making is often terrible for the environment. Very few companies give information to say they're trying to reduce that impact (I'd LOVE to hear from the ones that do!). "Vegan" on its own is never an indicator of eco-friendly in my eyes. Lots of things are accidentally vegan - or even purposefully vegan - but that doesn't mean it's good for the planet.
      Also in regards to what Amanda mentioned, I went through synthetics like crazy. It created a lot of waste. SBVs last much longer in my experience, and I could honestly get by with a Round Size 8 for 95% of the painting I do, which eliminates the need for extra liners, mops, etc. :)
