You forgot to add that some of the humans found on earth in present time have a gene called “Rimworld Dependency” which can naturally be given to a human or baseline through the purchase of a game called “Rimworld.” With this, the recreational needs that Rimworld provides soon becomes an addiction and people who depend on it constantly need their play time in order to survive, less they want to fall into severe mental breakdowns. The origin of this gene or how it came to be is unknown, though some rumour it be the product of a sinister man who they call Tynan Sylvester.
Psychoid plants do actually grow on polluted soil, one of the few crops that do. So Wasters are capable of supplying their own. Great video by the way, it's nice seeing a dive into the lore.
In terms of the Highmates’ low heat tolerance: this could be due to having undersized skin pores to make their skin more smooth and “flawless” with the side effect of making them unable to sweat sufficiently to cool their bodies. This was a feature of a similar type of modified human seen in the book “The Windup Girl.” The eponymous girl was genetically engineered to be a beautiful companion for the wealthy and powerful, but her pores were so small that she could not sweat and relied on submerging in water or consuming ice to cool herself off. (this weakness was especially problematic given that the book is set in southern Thailand in a future where Global Warming has made the climate much hotter and electricity is rather scarce, making the production of ice and air conditioning fairly luxurious)

Sad they didn’t accurately depict Neanderthals social aspects. Neanderthals, although less intelligent than Homo sapiens, were in many ways pioneers of social cooperation. It’s estimated that they probably invented auditory language, as they lived in tribes of dozens up to 100 members. Homo sapiens at the time lived in family groups rarely being larger than 10. Neanderthals were also very protective and caring towards eachother as there have been Neanderthals found with healed crippling wounds. One recent find was of a Neanderthal missing an arm, a poorly healed broken leg, and a skull injury likely resulting in severe brain damage, yet was nursed back to relative health and lived a long (by the standard of the times) life. Heat tolerance is also inverted from reality as modern Homo sapiens are some of the best heat tolerant creatures on the planet while Neanderthals, though still decent compared to the average mammal, were way worse compared to Homo sapiens. This was mainly due to the different climates the species adapted in. With Homo sapiens dealing with the scorching sun of the savanna and Neanderthals dealing with the comparably mild sun of Europe and asia.
That's actually pretty interesting information. Especially the one about their first aid. Was the missing arm a result from a fight with a wild animal? If so, were they aware how to amputate/cauterize wounds?
@@thenightarchives4148 they weren’t too sure apart from it being broken rather than sawed, so either it was shattered by something like an animal attack or falling rocks, or the primitive Neanderthal doctor broke the poor guys arm bones with a rock or something to allow the rest of the limb to be amputated with stone knives. Yeah, i've read somewhere several times that their lower intelligence might be a myth. They went extinct because their bodies were inefficient. If we assume that the Neanderthal xenohumans are, lorewise, an accurate representation Neanderthals and not an artificial set of characteristics dubbed as “Neanderthal,” that actually sheds some light on the differences between baseliners and 21st century humans. The real Neanderthals were just about as intelligent and crafty as homo sapiens, and could do essentially everything we could. If xeno-Neanderthals are significantly slower learners than the baseline, then that would imply that the baseliners of Rimworld have naturally more developed learning abilities than Terran homo sapiens.
Well, baseliners can start with no expertise whatsoever in anything and after a couple of years of staring at a table and building chairs they end up learning how to construct by themselves a whole spaceship using nothing but scrap randomly found across the surface. I'd say they are pretty smart.
