Not only do I remember where's the beef AND kiss my grits! But my grandfather had a license plate for both of them. He was so proud of them at the time. Love the channel! Great video as usual!
I want to get the whole Hardin's Creek series as I think it's pretty neat that they aged the same stuff for the same amount of time in 3 different locations to see how differently it would turn out. Gonna be a tough ask and it's quite expensive on secondary.
I happen to have moved to Louisville right when Bakers and Knob Creek were rolled out by Beam which made me a Beam fan straight away. We tasted Bookers at the distillery as well which (I think) came out a bit earlier. Those early visits (in my bourbon journey) to Beam & Makers has influenced me ever since.
I haven't gotten past the commercial to watch the video yet so my answer hasn't been influenced by any tasting! NO not one of those is worth more than 1/2 of what their asking!
I’m not the biggest fan of the Jim Beam products I’ve tried - Bookers, Knob Creek, etc. because of the nuttiness, but I picked up this Little Book the other day and was pleasantly surprised.
It's weird - a lot of people say that nuttiness is characteristic of Jim Beam stuff, but I don't see it. Where I consistently get peanuts is whisky from Heaven Hill, and I get pecans from George Dickel No. 12.
@@WhiskyForBeginnersI definitely most associate the "Jim Beam profile" with peanuts, but I could definitely also get some nuts from Heaven Hill products (J.T.S. Brown is quite nutty). I don't get any nuts from the Dickel lineup, though, but I definitely get a lot of disappointment.
Big fan of the Baker's 7, going to have to be on the lookout for the Baker's 13. I had a Hardin's Creek Jacob's Well in my hand and put it back. One of the biggest regrets I've had hunting.
I think one day ya’ll are going to go back to this Chapter 7 little book and say wow that’s amazing. Very very very impressed with this Little Book. Best one by far they’ve put out.
I have the Hardin’s Creek Clermont and Frankfort. Really hope to get the Boston to complete the series. So good for 17 years. Also have the Baker’s 13, but have not cracked it open yet.
I'd love to try any of these bottles for MSRP. I saw a Baker's 13 the other day, but it was marked up to about $400 by itself. That's a hard pass for me at that price. Great video, as always!
I am with Trenton...black coffee is the best way to go!!!! Starbucks is NOT the answer for such either...burnt beans...nasty. Personally, over charging for bourbon should be a felony!!! 😏
I got ya Kent!! “Where’s the beef?” I find it so interesting that Trenton seems to be so picky about what he will or will not eat yet will go into the yard and eat a mushroom growing there. 😂
5:07 I've not found Beam stuff to be nutty, but Heaven Hill juice definitely gives me peanuts, and George Dickel No. 12 has a clear pecan note. 8:03 Balcones Distilling is very idiosyncratic in giving the age - their Texas Pot Still Bourbon is a fair example: AGED AT LEAST 24 MONTHS IN OAK. But that math is easy. 🙂

Trenton, great job with the ideas and videos. How about doing a head to head double blind with Russells single barrel picks and Russells 13 multiple batches is available too? People Want to know how the single barrels stack-up against the Russells 13 and if it can even beat it in a blind. 5-6 bottle total would be great for variety if possible. Keep-up the great content with Poppa Kirk. Cheers! Jonathan
I'd love to try the Bakers 13, because I'm a big fan of the 7 year [minimum]. I never saw/tried any Hardens Creek either. I did just find a bottle of the Little Book 7 though, and think it's incredibly delicious - love at first taste. So I'm a little surprised at your unimpressed reaction. It's the only Booker's I've ever tasted though, so maybe my scale is just off.
I always enjoy watching your reviews thx! I'd like you guys in 1 of your videos to explain your taste preferences and in particular your pepper spicy taste. I generally drink old scotches and Irish whiskeys but have a hard time with many bourbon for too much pepper/rye spice. So would love to hear more detail. Thx!
Hilarious reference from old Wendy's ads! I guess I'm in Kurt's generation, LOL! Made me laugh! Frankfort reviews have been so-so compared to Clermont. While watching this I'm sampling Larceny A123 and wondering how these could be much better at twice the price?
Nice. I have seen the Baker's 13 around on whiskey tube. Nowhere near my neck of the woods. That intrigues me is the almost unanimous enjoyment. I am not a huge fan of Baker's 107, so it would be cool to see how much better the 13 is. I was checking Total Wine and some online stores, while the video was on. I will keep my eye out incase the 13 ever migrates west.
Can you do a review of Mcfarlane's Reserve 13yr Bourbon finished in Cabernet Sauvignon? It is my all time favorite and I am surprised how underestimated it is in the market nowadays!
Up to 2 years is acceptable when talking to other parents. "1 year" isn't specific enough when it could mean 12 months or 23 months, which would be totally different stages for the kid. Non-parents probably wouldn't care though.
I was once told that the reason Glencairn glasses are shaped the way they are, is so you can lay them on their sides and spin them in a circle to aerate the whisky.
There is a specific "roller" glass for that (quite neat looking, I think) but man, would it be a fight to keep any decent pour in a glencairn doing that after your first couple of rounds! 😂
Hey Kurt and Trento! I’ve seen a good amount of y’all videos but not once I’ve heard you guys say what SLB stands for. S-L-Basement, Bourbon…what’s the SL?
Weird that the 2 year Hardin's Creek is $75 and the 17 year is $170 MSRP. I'm glad they didn't no nuts with the pricing... mostly shocked how high the 2 year bottle is. I'm sure this 17 year bottle will be going crazy on the secondary and the bottle museum shops will have it at $999+ soon as they get a shipment. Luckily, I'm very happy with Knob Creek 12 & 15 and those bottles are usually $60 and $100 here.
That is quite the oddity. It sounds like you're a Knob Creek fan... I'm curious to pick your brain on how you think KC 12 and 15 compare to KC 9 $ KC 9 SB.
Rewatching a year later and I really enjoy my Hardin’s Creek Clermont and Little Book 7 is my favorite LB with LB 8 right behind. Also Little Book Infinite is a really nice pour. I still have yet to see a Baker’s 13
Jeff... we're gathered here today because we all love and care about you. These are the ways your airplane glue addiction has affected our lives... Beth, would you like to go first?
There are no whiskys or whiskeys worth over $90 of my money and that a stretch. There are many Bourbons under $50.00 that are really nice. wI really like your videos, I have not tried Old Granddad 114, had and enjoy the others in you $40-$50 and $30-$40. about coffee, I like coffee, straight strong black coffee. I drink Water, Coffee, Bourbon in that order.
I love watching the education of Trenton.
Kurt uses some old phrases from TV commercials.
“Where’s the Beef”!
I hope he's just playing dumb.
Yeah, Trent is a tad naïve. 😂
@@davidherr6738 Trenton wasn't even born yet when that commercial was on TV lol
As a black coffee drinker, the quality of the coffee is SUPER important to actually enjoying black coffee.
I’d love to see a video of you guys going on a bourbon hunt together
I doubt they hunt very much anymore. Liquor stores probably call them with allocations now.
Not only do I remember where's the beef AND kiss my grits! But my grandfather had a license plate for both of them. He was so proud of them at the time. Love the channel! Great video as usual!

It's not a real episode until Trenton doesn't get a pop culture or food reference.
Somebody had to say it! I also get suspicious if Trenton doesn't struggle with a word that Kurt tells him is commonly used. 😅
