Hey guys, at the end of last year you asked distillers to create more quality budget releases. It seems to me that several have stepped up. How about doing a year end review and blind of the best budget whiskeys released this year?
Great review! I am a bourbon newbie and have used your post titled "Top 15 Bourbons "Best Bang for the Buck" as a guideline. As of now, I have purchased 6 bottles and love them all. Still looking for the rest. Thanks for your information.
I didn't even know OGD 16 year was a thing until I got an email yesterday saying a local store was having an raffle and it was one of the bottles available to get picked to buy.
Same. That said I'd love to try this Bookers. Jim Beam profile is my jam. I like spice, nuts, smell of leather and tobacco and don't generally love really sweet bourbons.
My fear is that the old grand dad 16 is going to be impossible to find for close to msrp for 90% of people…hard for me to actually get excited for it because of that, even though I love the current offerings
Tried them both last week at the Beam bar. Left with the Infinite myself. It just hit more in my palate. You guys need the new Bakers High Rye! It was my favorite of the trip.
The sunshine is in Europe for months now. It's all over the shelves right beside apple, peach, chery and the normal JB. Harder to get are older JB and special products. The prices are also secondary.
My favorite thing about the Reserves release is that the brown wax is an iconic color for Bookers. The original releases had brown wax, and they eventually switched over to the black wax.
3:46 Jim Beam does some really high class stuff. Knob Creek 9 is IMO the best basic bourbon out there now that Balcones has quit making bourbon, and the 12 year is even better. Right now I'm drinking a 9 year old Knob Creek store pick - it's my third bottle - and it's superb. The Old Grand-Dad 114 is very good also, and the Black 7 year is good everyday bourbon. Jim Beam isn't just that mediocre brown water they put a white label on...but of course y'all know that. 🙂
Beam Suntory has produced cocktail focuses releases before. The Suntory Toki was pitched as a cocktail (or highball) focused Japanese Whisky. It would make sense they might try a Bourbon counterpart. Cheers.
You paid 149 for the little book? I live in Florida and its selling for 219+tax! I passed it up. I just got the bookers 2024-03 in Virginia. Haven't seen it by us yet. Haven't cracked it yet. Do a review on 2024-03 please!!
How would this compare to beam 7yr? Also I think the beam sunshine also is an American answer to the scotches like Glenmorangie that have done the same thing
Jim Beam is KILLING it this year. The 7yr is a nice budget age stated (but not good IMO), the Winter Reserve is a good budget toasted finished 6 year (actually good IMO), The Reserves, The Infinite (EXCELLENT), and OGD 16...also excellent. Their pricing, overall, remains very reasonable even though they are part of a multinational conglomerate. They are also rocking tons of high age stated products - KC 18yr, Bakers 13yr, Old Overholt 10yr rye, KC 10yr rye, OGD 16 yr... Heck the Infinite and the Reserve both have very old whiskey in them too. I buy pretty much every release from Jim Beam I can find and I'm never disappointed outside of Booker's. The last 2 little book chapters have been outstanding and the Infinite is on par with some of the best whiskey released this year outside of Russel's 15... OGD 16 is great and I would say it's very comparable to a Russel's 13. If OGD 16 was closer to 115 proof it would be comparable to a Russel's 15. Very easily the best Beam product I've tasted this year.
Picked one of these up back in February at the distillery, they were selling the 200ml cube bottles at the register for $35 each. I’ve not opened it but I’m gonna savor it.
My disappointment with Jim Beam this year if them discontinuing the 90 Proof Pre-prohibition Rye which has been my "daily" for a while and going back to the inferior 80 Proof Rye.

Big fan of everything from Jim Beam.
I didn't even know OGD 16 year was a thing until I got an email yesterday saying a local store was having an raffle and it was one of the bottles available to get picked to buy.
I have a preference of Knob Creek & Old Granddad which are my favorites in the Jim Beam wheelhouse.
Same. That said I'd love to try this Bookers. Jim Beam profile is my jam. I like spice, nuts, smell of leather and tobacco and don't generally love really sweet bourbons.
If you love Old Granddad you need to try the new high rye LE Bakers 107
@@clmartin22 I have but i still prefer Old Grandad 114 over LE Bakers 107 though i will say i did enjoy it
OGD 16yr dropped yesterday in WI!
It’s a bit nutty
- Austin Danger Powers
OGD 16 hit shelves in Wisconsin this week.
My fear is that the old grand dad 16 is going to be impossible to find for close to msrp for 90% of people…hard for me to actually get excited for it because of that, even though I love the current offerings
So? Welcome to supply and demand. Buy it or don’t stop crying on the internet.
I feel sorry for you for being such an angry person
It's Beam and it's 100p. Taters won't go hard. *fingers crossed*
That’s not a fear, that’s guaranteed. Unless you buy it from the distillery store at srp.
That’s exactly what will happen
Tried them both last week at the Beam bar. Left with the Infinite myself. It just hit more in my palate. You guys need the new Bakers High Rye! It was my favorite of the trip.
The OGD 16 year dropped at Colonial Wine and Spirits in Little Rock, AR today and in less than 6 hours, all 4 cases sold. They had it priced at $230.
I'm not typically a jim beam fan but their 7 year black label just did it for me
Passed on the bookers reserve for a RR15
That RR15 is so good.
If you don’t mind, how much did you pay for the RR15? I saw it in NJ for $500 plus . They’re insane though
@@nickbonvino got mine for 270, but have seen them between 3-400 in stores. Since I have one, I leave it for others to find.
@nickbonvino I was lucky enough to find it at MSRP at a grocery store so 249+tax
I think they said the Infinate would be a multi year project. They will be adding to the barrel each year.
Love the bracelet! I’ll put mine on today 😂
I work at Beam, always cool to see y’all review out stuff

I'm a little sad Trent didn't get the "nutty" pun at the beginning
I know; Kurt even gave him two cracks at it!
The Little Book reserve sounds great but I doubt it'll be available for a while here in Australia 😢
Great episode guys, look forward to these.

What about old overholt 11 year supposed to be coming out. OO 10 YEAR was awesome! And don't forget bakers 13.
Ohio state liquor stores are pricing the little book at 199.99 when it becomes available
I always stay until the end just for the music. Love that tune.
Me as well. Love the piano jazz.
Maker's Mark Lost Recipe (Mocha) dropped at Costco in Denver today (9/25/24).
Jim Beam gone wild
How do these compare to my all time favorite: Charlie's batch from last year?
I just bought a Jim Beam Double Oaked and really love it.
Jim Beam Sunshine cocktail review? Maybe a specialty Old Fashioned, a bramble, and/or a Boulevardiae?
What is that bookers off screen?
Well now I have 3 new Jim Beams to look for. Repeal batch, winter and sunshine were are you?
How would this compare to beam 7yr?
Also I think the beam sunshine also is an American answer to the scotches like Glenmorangie that have done the same thing
Bet the Sunshine would make a good Old Fashion video. 🤷
I just got a Knob Creek Single Barrel pick which is straight dark chocolate bomb
Interesting how single barrels differ, mine is straight caramel!
sounds amazing. I like the KC picks but I haven't had anything like that. Lucky. cheers
Haven’t seen the reserve but I passed on the little book for 200 at a grocery store
Is that just a fancy set or a legitimate tavern. I'd spend money there
Anyone have any specifics regarding this referenced ‘Jim Beam corn whiskey’?
Hardins Creek Golden Origins
I picked up a little book when I did their tour a couple months ago
Sounds like many more bottles the average Joe will never see

My new go to budget is Jim Beam Black Label extra age
Hi guys - like your videos. But how can you keep sober?
Was told Booker's eye is coming out next year
Tried both last Thursday at Jim Beam. Both were excellent and I picked up the Little Book. Looking to trade for Blantons SFTB.
I like old granddad. Tasty bourbon
Try Beer Nuts!
You missed Bookers rye!
I will go camp out in a rickhouse !!
do another rye or high rye mash
LB Infinite was a little boring for me. Haven’t seen the Bookers Reserves yet, but if it’s the same srp as normal Bookers I will grab one.
Fan of ECBP & Stagg Jr, how does it compare?
Please do a disco 12 review by itself before you do all the disco together!!! Good aged wild turkey in there 👌🏽👌🏽
“From what I gather this is made for mixing”.
“Says right here, made for mixing”.

Is that the A Overholt Monongahela rye?
where in the heck were you lucky enough to find either of these for $129.99!?!?
he seems to get a lot of the new bottles ASAP lol guess it helps to have a legit YT channel on bourbon.

Fair warning, the OGD 16 is fantastic.
OGD 16 is one of the disappointment of the year for sure for close to 200 dollars
