- Dr. Dan Schueftan is Former Senior National Security Advisor of Israel and Former Advisor to two Prime Ministers of Israel - Yitzhak Rabin and Ariel Sharon. Dan Schueftan is an Israeli scholar and the director of the University of Haifa's National Security Studies Center. He also teaches at Haifa University's School of Political Sciences as a senior lecturer. Schueftan has taught at the Israel Defense Forces National Security College and the Israel Defense Forces Command and Staff College. Schueftan advised Israeli decision-makers at the highest levels of Israel's foreign policy and defence sectors, as well as briefing European and American political leaders and senior commanders. He has written many books about modern Middle Eastern history. Schueftan is credited with having advanced the concept of "unilateral disengagement" or "unilateral separation", as articulated in his 1999 book, "Disengagement: Israel and the Palestinian Entity". The book is cited as having formed the basis for the concept of Separation from the Palestinians.
