You may think you do things to help others or for the benefit of others; charity; sacrifice, etc..., but it's a result of making yourself feel {good, fulfilled, validated, etc.} Learning about yourself and excepting ourselves is the step toward enlightenment. It's a long road, almost fleeting, to find that 1 person that fills the void you feel. Good luck though; I haven't found the one yet.
