- Bob Venier is possibly best known for his haunting Flugelhorn solo on the outro of Little River Band’s hit “Reminiscing”.
I’ve known Bob for over 40 years and in that time I have shared the stage and recorded some beautiful music with him; the most intense period being 1980-83 when we were in a phenomenal band called Pyramid. (Check out some of Pyramid’s live performances on my RUclips channel.)
In 1996, Bob recorded his first solo album entitled Zoe.
Listening back to this album all these years later reminds me of Bob’s talent as a writer and exponent of the Trumpet & Flugelhorn. Heartfelt melodies, grooves and chord structures ranging from Jazz, Funk & Latin combined with his romantic northern Italian heritage, creates a mesmerising soundtrack. The cream of Melbourne musicians appear on this album including this rare live performance of Zoe on Bert Newton‘s “Good Morning Australia” television show.
Featuring.....

Phill Turcio - Piano
Glenn Hughes - Guitar

Just magic... Thank you !
Very nice. Good tone on the flugelhorn.
Bobby has the best tone on Flugelhorn
Sublime tones and sentiment from Bob and band. GMA was a great platform to respect seasoned professionals and true art. Great mix from the show and a treasured performance. All the best Bob, Roger and Co. I have the album and just going to relisten now.
Bob was the guy on the big hit Reminiscing. I heard he did the song in only one take and was then told to go home, but he was saying that he was just warming up.
He did do several takes but they kept the first run through (warm up) which thankfully was recorded. Quite often the first solo is the best
Just love this song and beautiful Flugel Horn playing Bobby!! xx
Superb! 👏👏👏
What a groove. Way ahead of their time
Thanks for the posting Roger, I'll be playing this over and over. What a treat to have this visual; simply sensational!
Beautiful tune - i knew Zoe, I spent a lot of time at the Venier house as a kid 🎶🎶
That's so wonderful. I never met Bob's Mother Zoe
