Good heavens, Alexandra never ceases to amaze me. Her amalgam of passion and precision is a gift from heaven. I must admit, I was sceptical of a Nonet arrangement, fearing a rather anemic echo of the full orchestra - no matter how good the chamber players. But this performance dispelled that prejudice altogether. If one approaches this as Chamber Music, rather than as a diminutive symphonic version, it is absolutely satisfying, and as wondrous as its "big sister", with crystalline textures, and the magical themes revealed afresh.
Bravi, tutti! Chapeau mil fois! ~ M.

!Me encanta!

Some of the contrast between woodwinds and solo string sound is lost (of course) but it's a great arrangement and every note in the solo part can be heard since there is no overwhelming orchestra to fight against.

    Wonderful arrangement and performance.
But is it any surprise that I was totally confused by the video title?
    >> "Brahms Violin Concerto Op. 77 Nonet Alexandra Conunova Rechtman arrangement"
    Ouch. What a God-forsaken mess!
Something like this would be a lot better:
    >> "Brahms Violin Concerto, Op. 77, Alexandra Conunova violin, arrangement for nonet by I. Rechtman."
(If it doesn't all fit, then omit the arrangement info and put it in the notes instead. ;-)
    😉

Couldn't agree more... What a jewel of an arrangement, performance and sound recording work it is. The combined amount of work and expertise put in this is insane... For a live performance / recording this is staggering, even with today's high performance standards.
