This was the first card game I actually learned to play instead of just collecting YGO and Pokemon. I really liked it. All the cool kids had different glass beads from bed bath and beyond for wounds, burdens, and twilight. Tutoring out and discounting the Balrog was always fun. Had a nazgul and ents deck. It flows really well once you're use to all the mechanics. I still like the back and forth of the mana system. Also I remember minions following to different locations and applies more pressure to the opponent. Rules might have needed another read through. Apparently it kinda came back during covid and theres been fan sets for a while.
@@TheTestTable1 Like, I can see some really cool bluffing with Shadow and Take the Lead pushes if you really had the spare brain capacity to actually play it rather than trying to do all the admin. Wasted potential, I guess :(
I don't remember Frodo automatically taking a Burden every turn. I'm pretty sure you're only supposed to take those when he takes damage or from effects.
They butchered a lot of the rules and gameplay in this. Also the game really comes to life with constructed decks vs the starters. Played this competitively 20 years ago and it’s definitely in my top 5 with flesh and blood, raw deal, netrunner, and l5r. Sad they didn’t get to have a true experience of the game as when it’s played properly it still holds up well even if it could use some modernization.
@@TheTestTable1 That’s fair. If you’re enjoying what you do that’s all that matters. It’s the first video of yours I’ve watched, but damn did it hurt my soul to watch some of the rules interpretations that got made in that game 😂
My brother and I love this one. I actually collected enough to create a deck that was a combination of Orcs/Most of the Nazgul and Hobbits/Horsemen of Rohan. It did run roughshod over my brother's starter deck he never bothered to develop, but we still had good times. Nazgul in particular are brutal because some of them attack twice and some of them just have ridiculous attack strength. If you want to try the "updated version", take a look at War of the Ring: The Card Game. It's also got a co-op expansion that... does what it says it does.
tbh the starter decks for this game are hot trash (found some online for cheap). The gameplay itself is kinda cool. I print and play with some decks i found online after reading the rules and watched some gameplay on youtube were they opend some boxes and build decks, and funny enough the game can be played in multiplayer and it... is actually very cool
I believe it was if there's an excess attacker or defender at the start of combat, the player decides where that card fights. That goblin savage should have fought someone, I think.
Video done. Head hurts now. Game would be much better with a seprate companion deck, wich would also help to separate the discard and dead piles, from where you could play 1 companion per turn. Remeber kids, if there is 1 thing every tcg should steal from yugioh its the extra deck.
the glacier sleeves are so pretty I actually went and bought a pack
the sponsorships is working
They are legitimately gorgeous

The boys return on their fellowship adventures to throw Metazoo into a volcano
Yes
Oh my, they actually played a game again!
EDIT: Never mind.. from the first turn, they are playing the game wrong.
😶😞
I'm addicted to this channel. Thanks so much for hours of fun content!
I remember collecting these back in the day.
It's not terrible, it's just.... a lot
Honestly, this game seems like it would be a lot better online, where all the moving parts/admin can be automated?
Yes, 100% actually.

Not hard if you play the game somewhat correctly.. ;)
i have never seen a card game where two people are drawing and going "god dammit" as much as this game.
The decks are admittedly pretty horrendous
A real Decipher classic
Idk it's kinda rough

Oop

That's just how we do it round here

Raw deal, netrunner, and LotR really are in the pantheon of "too good for this world" tcgs for me.

We'll look into it!
Anyone else ever noticed how much magic players simp over the one ring and orcish bowmasters ?
Who still plays magic lol
"You know what? I kinda like this"
The Ring of Stockholm has gotten to him.
Admittedly, the combat and idea of the game is fun. But the execution is awful.
to much for the lil son hobbit Connor and papa Carl the yellow ;-;
Carl the yellow? That's what they used to call me. I am Carl the orange
this games seems really flavourful but like so much that the game kinda get dragged down by it
Yeah, it's trying too hard. It's definitely a "this is the early 2000s and only nerds play card games" game

Yeah the starter decks really sucked
We are so back
Yes we are
Connor, certified killer
Certified moron
are yall gonna play elestrals?
Eventually
My body is ready

That didn't occur when we played through the tutorial

Game would be much better if you could just build a deck of heroes or villians and just fight
@@TheTestTable1 I guess, but than it would be just generic fantasy battler 54 tm.
I believe the conventional way to keep the dead and discard piles separate is to turn the dead pile 90 degrees and put it to the right of the discard.
Look at those handsome boys 😍
😳
I physically cringed at 1:50. THAT WAS SO CLOSE.
Connor is not adept with swords
Still the best TCG ever made. And you played almost everything wrong sadly...
😢
@TheTestTable1 It's ok, It's a bit different from other tcgs😊
They're taking Connor to Isengard.
Lol
Poor boys maxing and relaxing..I’ve never agreed faster with a more true statement in my life
We live in a society
