I would accept it on the condition the NFL must promise to never expand the number of games ever again and if they do ownership of the league would transfer to the players union.
I don't hate it, but any season expansion HAS to come with a 2nd bye week.
Completely agree, should also come with grass fields as well. These guys careers will be shortened if not. Hits for 23 weeks in a year if you're a top playoff team is going to be hard to get through

Agreed. And a roster size increase has to come with cap increase to be able to pay the extra players.
An 18 game season, but no player can be on the active roster for more than 16 games.

If, they go to 18 games, they will need to add 5 to 7 players simply due to attrition. 2 O-Linemen, 2 D-Linemen, another RB and another WR or CB. No more turf. I'd go 2 to 3 bye weeks. Greed is going to "F" the game.
Preseason sucks but how do you evaluate bubble players in an actual game but without it costing you in the W/L column? Expand the rosters?
18 not enough i need more football to gamble on, CFB got the memo with their 14 team playoff expansion coming in a few years. 20 regular season games 3 bye weeks with a mandatory bye in Wk19, no preseason games, add an 8th playoff team bring back dual wildcard byes for top 2 seeds.

If you have more games you need to up the roster count because you are going to have more injuries.
I was quite happy with 16 games, 12 playoff teams. As the NFL pushes it with more games and more days that games air on, I get less interested. The NFL's appeal over the other sports is partially tied into the scarcity of games. I try to watch every game my team plays which is effectively impossible in baseball or hockey. I watch every playoff game regardless of who's in it. Ideally I watch at least two games every Sunday, so I'm routinely watching games for teams I don't have any particular fandom for just because I find it entertaining and each game is so significant on standings. The NFL is so insistent on diluting that. Super wildcard weekend is a pain to slide into my schedule. It's hard enough to tell my friends and family that I'm unavailable on Sundays during football season. These patient people that are not football fans will have less and less patience if I have to add weeks to that time or add Friday night games or Christmas games. I already outright skip Thursday and Monday unless the Seahawks are playing just because I do have a life outside of watching football. The NFL needs to understand that once I get into the habit of skipping games then Sunday afternoon becomes flexible. Maybe I watch football or maybe I do something else if the weather's nice or friends want to do something. That's not good for the NFL. They should desire near 100% participation from their fans but they should keep that as a realistic possibility.
Add five more players to each team. That way your fav bubble players that get cut would not be as bubbly.
I think the 2024 season is set now although I actually haven’t looked. But it would mean, 99 percent, that going to an 18-game season could happen no sooner than 2025. They could do it this year - maybe. It would cause absolute chaos for teams and ticket distribution though. Not only that but I’ll bet some people have already booked hotels and flights to away games if it’s possible.

I thought it was stupid to go to 17 games. First of all I can’t think of a single sports league with an odd number of games. But I do think an 18-game season with two preseason games might be alright. I’m sure someone’s done the math but I bet the number of injuries grows exponentially with the number of games in the NFL. It would mean you wouldn’t just have, oh, 1/18 more injuries with one more game but it would be worse than that. I’m almost sure of it because a longer season means players get tired, and tired players start to get lazy on fundamentals, and poor fundamentals mean more injuries, as Elle Woods might argue in “Legally Blonde.” I might have to check today to see if anyone’s run the numbers.
17 was always going to lead to 18 because it was an odd number. It didn't take a genius to figure out 17 was a stop gap because its easier to demand 1 twice then demand 2.
They talk about player safety but they ant 18 game season then bitch when players wants more money…it’s not a good thing as far as rest during the offseason then u turn around and off season is ready to start, think about the training and time off. Wldnt work and u will deff see more injuries.
