Taught my middle daughter how to weld. In high school. She took the whole year welding. She did better than all the guys in her class. This is coming from her teacher. I am a very proud dad. I told her. Girls can weld too. I did buy her a whole welding outfit. She out grew her stuff. But I still have them as a reminder for her daughter's. But I do want to say. Encourage your kids. Boys or girls. Grand daughter and grandsons. They need your support. Don't chastise them when they are learning. Praise them. That's the foundation of a child's learning.

My mom was the same way. Sometimes all it takes is some talking to…. Also show her the price differences between what it will take to get ur Engineering Degree Versus what it takes to be certified to weld. And the money you can make in welding.
i really hope you go through with starting to weld, because once you start making that bank im sure you’re mom will be supportive, and if not , as long it something you enjoy doing, keep going and live your life the way that makes yourself happy, not everyone else. :)

I'm 32 years experience 6G welder working on different types of worldwide sailing ships. I really love to see the girls/ women do welding works. Welding is nothing but every second of time concentration to avoid pinholes and undercuts. Good I really appreciate it.
Observe Notify I’m in Cali, 18 years old taking welding classing almost done with my associates since it was pretty easy to get one I went for it instead of a certificate(Ik I don’t need it but I did it for the experience and if I didn’t no one would I know would be able to show me how to weld). Yes ,definately You can be a great welder with the qualification of 6G and 6GR. Mostly I advise people who learn welding is this, your lungs and eyes get damaged with the toxic smoke and with the brightest powerful light.

Observe Notify thank you!! I am aware about the welding fumes but as long as you wear your respirator I think you should be better off, same goes for eye protection. Funny story of my journey is that I arc eyed myself the first day of welding. It wasn’t too bad but I did see the arc. It was both my fault and the Instructor, me because I knew nothing and accidentally touched the metal with the electrode, and instructor because he told us to go weld in our booth with no knowledge at all.... but that’s a really bright memory I’ll never forget. Next semester I’m taking a blue print course then my last course will be pipe welding practice. Good to know that employers need more knowledge welders that know what there welding not just good at running a bead. Thanks for your time! Appreciate it
My daughter is kind of at loose ends, isn't sure what she wants to do with her life. It made me so happy when she said she was considering trade school. I want her to be able to support herself with a needed skill.
A long, LONG time ago there were women who welded but after WWII they became fewer and fewer. Most wanted some sort of desk job, i.e., secretary, switchboard operator, accountant etc. It just tickles me senseless that these young ladies had the opportunity to learn this extremely valuable skill and make (probably) a very decent living do it. Kudos to them and those that encouraged them.
While my daughter still lived with us, she used to use my shops. Now she’s in Texas, so she can’t. But I always encouraged her. Remember that during WWII, women built a lot of our ships, planes and tanks.
Later in life something might break something or someone need a welder she will be the girl to take on the job and earn their respect. And she can say my pops taught me how to weld

For years I’ve always wanted to be a welder but was afraid to fail. Watching these young ladies put in the work has motivated me to not be afraid. Great work and hopefully i get to see some more videos of them 👌🏻.
Failure is important, don't be afraid of it, welding is basically a series of failures that you learn from,everyday you'll do at least a couple bum welds, you just note what you did wrong and move on, fuck it like if it's really bad just cut it out and restart, don't be afraid, honestly you'll never run out of stuff to learn with welding, but you have to start to learn anything at all
Learn from your mistakes. A boss said at the weekly reviews "if you have not made any mistakes this past week I will gladly accept your resignation because you have done nothing all week". He was right

As a member of Local 412 it would be nice to see more young ladies like these two taking an interest in the trade. We are hurting for welders, fitters, and plumbers in our area. I took a welding class 25 years ago and have been professionally welding since. I started out welding boiler tubes and then moved onto pipe at chemical and refineries here in Cali. It's great to see more women in the trades.

@@gasclutch6280 I appreciate your question. It depends on where you live and the demand for welding. I settled here in Northern California. Depending on what county you live in and what Union you may join...Here it varies from $28 to $ 60 or more an hour. I hope this helps.
Skill1 I’m from northern Cali aswell! I am not sure if I want to take a shot at pipe welding but as of right now what interests me is my own rig welding business, or underwater welding. Kinda just riding along right now, get expirence and see where I am at in a year or 2, practicing my 3F lol vertical really do be hard. I debated trying to go to UTI for welding courses but some say that’s not a good choice unless I get a scholarship for it since they aren’t a non profit

Sam worked with me at zachary in Freeport tx on the lng project.. I never had the chance to work with Sierra but some of the other supervisors had told me she was good. I was just thinking about Sam the other day because I went thru my studies for cwi and remembered Sam had told me that's what she was aiming for.. I left the plant and went back to the oilfield been welding mainline and fabrication since.. does me real good to see how they both did in this video. Women inspired even me as a guy to go welding, sadly where i live there is no work and horrible work conditions, life threatening and health destroying jobs with drunks, ex-convicts and no proper tools or safety, now i have an useless welding certification.
the women in my pipe fitter trade school are all great welders. I was told they usually have a better touch and vision. it's a great skill to have, it can be super lucrative and it's actually, usually, a ton of fun imo.

@@luciawelsh2360 Go join Ocean Corporation that is where I went for NDT (Non Destructive Testing) we test welds and many other things. They have s diving program that teaches diving and welding. Weld Tube has been there to get their weld UT and RT tested. I was in school at the time of that recording. I recently graduated in May I highly recommend that school.

Some Oil rig guys were awesome,The best Cap Ever was done By lawson Fresher in Aussie 6G ASME 9 Carbon sched 80.7016/7018 The weave was double speed,power up a little may be Smooth as,No under cut,finely rippled. Looks do count!1 I think if you tried his technique on the cap.you will kill it. Still really good welding though. I only ever came across one female welder. ,She was Chinese and was very good with Flux cored wire.
Reality check they still cannot do the same shit men can…. They’ll get easy cake jobs and never get stuck in the rough with the boys getting dirty as fuck and having to do hard labor tasks like heavy lifting…. They will get men to do that for them..
Nice welding there lady's. Never any point would I have thought women couldn't weld, it's just a perception of some people and what society thinks men and women should do. Good work, just do what you want to do. Would like to have seen more detail in between each pass to see how you are building on the weld though, how much you clean and prepare for next pass etc. Iv'e never welded pipe so just interested to see whole process. :-)

Nice welding there lady's. Never any point would I have thought women couldn't weld, it's just a perception of some people and what society thinks men and women should do. Good work, just do what you want to do. Would like to have seen more detail in between each pass to see how you are building on the weld though, how much you clean and prepare for next pass etc. Iv'e never welded pipe so just interested to see whole process. :-)
