This was our favourite ‘Cortina’ at London’s Ace Cafe today. Had a good chat with its owner. How many of the commenters on here have seen this car in the flesh? We have a couple of bog standard classics (1983 Lancia, 1989 Merc) but wouldn’t occur to me to criticise the treatment of this car; it’s very cool. Keep it up Mad Mods.

As a ford man for over 10 years I must say that its cool that people rescue and even modify cars like this so then you can meet more and more of these on the streets.
Sorry man, that's just my philosophy, I prefer to mod old cars so You can drive them everyday, so You can enjoy the enhanced driving feeling etc. (cars were invented to be driven after all). I still admire people restoring these to full original state, it's cool but I just prefer different path, different things excite me. And even if something is not my thing, I can say that I prefer something else, I would do it differently, but me personally would never try to suggest if someone deserves something or not, I just find that a bit rude. The beauty of the car world is that everyone can do their own thing with their cars and then what they've done speeks for itself and reflects their personality. I personally don't judge work of another (especially lots of hard work trying to set highest quality possible which modding cars involves). If You posted vid of your project, fully original restoration, I'd say "thats cool man, good job!" not "You did it wrong, you should mod it, its lame, shame on You".
And BTW, Taunus is not that very rare and expensive in Poland and/or Germany, feel free visiting and buying one for your own project ;)

Damals war ich bei Ford habe selber ein Taunus 1,6 Liter gehabt. Habe die 1,3,- 1,6- 1,6 88 PS und 2,0 Liter V-6 mit 90 PS Machine gekannt, die 2,3 Liter V-6 mit 108 PS habe nicht gesehen, die war mal auf Taunus 17-M P7 II Capri und Später auf's Consul/ Granada eingebaut.
I like the shape of the car. Pretty neat looking square headlights.
in england you can have the 3 liter 180 hp and in south africa the capri got the V8 302 ...great color
In My home is 1972 2d sedan Ford Taunus..i put 2.3l V6 engine..210 km/h..Sierra Gearbox..axle is 3.43..13 inches wheels..

please help! did you change stock pistons ? is this engine suitible for 0.4 or 0.6 bar turbo pressure
engine 100% stock, unopened. almost every engine can stand as little as ~0.5 bar of boost

Nice job, nice video too, well made, kudos to you guys... as for those who don't like what you have done with the car, well, that's how life goes... Luckily we're not cursed to have all the same tastes... As for me, i'm a Ford guy and a Harley Davidson guy, and let me tell you this, if i have to go around and tell to all those who have a Harley that doesn't fit my taste that they are not worth owning that bike, i will waste all my life bitchin' around (beacuse a lot of those bikes sucks for me, but that's just me) until someone will beat the livin' shit out of me... rightfully... so, there you go... i'm just glad that another Taunus it's still cruisin' around...

Jak widać na filmie robota nie opłacalna po pierwsze lepiej wstawić 2.8 ma już się ta moc bez turbo i mniejsza kasa i moment od dołu drugie ze ten samochód i tak nadaje się do jazdy na wprost
Po pierwsze nieoplacalne dla jednego nie jest nieoplacalne dla drugiego, a po drugie 2.8 bylo od zawsze w planach, zeby podmienic w przyszlosci za 2.3. I tak bedzie, graty na spokojnie sie zbierają, silnik zacznie byc kiedys budowany, tylko tu nie ma presji czasu, auto caly czas jezdzi i bardzo cieszy wlasciciela w obecnej konfiguracji :)
a fakt ze "nadaje sie" do jazdy na wprost to zasadniczo jak kazdy stary ford bez radykalnej przebudowy zawiasu, co poza tym nie dyskwalifikuje go z sensu posiadanie podniesionej mocy :)
