Frank Sinatra is for everybody. Young, old, middle aged, it doesn't matter. Fly me to the moon...
He said “a brand new song for you” because this was the first performance of this tune in front of the Japanese audience. He recorded the song in 1979 and the last concert he did in Japan was in 1974.
Frank was almost 70 , at the time was an old age for people in show business. He kept singing for 10 years after that , until 1995.
He’s literally the best! They play this song at the end of every NY Yankees home game!!
Saw frank 3 times in concert. Was friends with his son, Frank Jr. so one time in '93 he invited us down to the Riviera in Vegas to see his dad....front row (table) about 6 feet from Frank! WHAT A SHOW!!!
You guys would love “My Way”. Arguably his best song. Definitely a once in a lifetime voice.
saw Sinatra 7 times in concert. He was in his 70's
Yes.. it’s live .. live ❤
I'm 25 and love that man! My favorite singer EVER. React to these Frank Sinatra songs: 'Under my Skin', 'My Way', 'The Way You Look Tonight', 'That's Life', 'Fly Me To The Moon', and his group stuff. They were called the Rat Pack. Legendary stuff...
Love the young appreciation of classics❤
Frank was still performing like he was in his prime, at this time. He lived another 13 years after this performance. He was 70 years old at this time. Sometime in tbe mid 90s he started to slip a little on stage. I dont know if it was ever confirmed publicly, but it was like he had some sort of dementia. He would forget the words to songs, and just stop singing. He wasnt the first crooner ever, but he was the king of crooners.
Greatest singer of all time. He brought DRAMA to singing. Changed the way everybody sang, although recently a lot of today's singers seem to have forgotten how to sing dramatically. Corny? No. Not if you can do it right.
He was born December of 1915, which would make him 69 years old in this concert.
I saw him live in Vegas many years ago... I'm 58.. This was live.. Frank never needed a studio to sound good.
It comes different ways for songs. This song came from a play and Liza Manelli was the person who sung it. When Frank recorded it for an album he was doing it was so popular that it overtook Liza's and became a theme for Frank. The song is now associated with Frank.
Interesting note for me: I share my birthday with Frank. Dec. 12th
I was a professional musician for 22 years. The drunker people got, the more they requested this song.
Saw him at Madison Square Garden, the concert is available on RUclips because they made a special out of it.
take a listen to Tony Bennett New York New York with Frank Sinatra. with headphones, makes me weep! truely, The Greatest Generation!
3 times in concert...Atlanta...my godfather...my dad guarded him...
Legendary
This was 100% live
LIVE !!!!! NO AUTO TUNE !!!! Was at his 80th B'Day Celebration... He sang a duet with Ella Fitzgerald Sounded Great..
The Man ❤ he knew everyone from PRESIDENTS, a Queen, and every actor and actress in Hollywood. RIP
The songs he sang were mostly written by dedicated songwriters. Back then the songs were written and studios bought them or they were "borrowed" from plays, movies and other singers.
Frank was a "control freak" (in a good way) when it came to recording and performing. His gestures, a lot of the time, were to the band conductor or to the band itself. There are a couple videos that show him in the recording studio. (It Was a Very good Year", "Younger Than Springtime") He also tried not to sing the song the same way twice, there is something different each time.
Please find the video of Frank Sinatra and Ella Fitzgerald doing "The Lady is a Tramp". A legend in her own right, she was one of the few performers that Frank idolized and was actually nervous singing with. The collaboration was amazing.
Fire!
Love Frank
You should do a reaction of “Summer wind” live version. it was also at the end of a sad episode of “The Simpsons”
Hi guys from Edinburgh Scotland 😂
Iconic Frank Sinatra the song My Way. Barbra Streisand songs Evergreen & The Way We Were. These 2 women have one of the most beautiful singing voices Karen Carpenter the song Superstar & Close to you. Rock Roll incredible voice Anne Wilson of Heart, Barracuda song.
Even though he was 58 at the time, his cover of "What are you doing the rest of your life " is well worth a listen. Also try "It had to be you " from the Trilogy album.
Frank was a legendary crooner, who had a great deal of influence in Hollywood and the music industry...for decades. Ever since the 1940s, when he was just a very young dude driving the girls and ladies crazy. And there was always the stories about his connections to the Italian Mafia.
But Frank's voice was one of the best ever in popular music.
He did a Christmas duet with another great crooner, Bing Crosby, that also was from a movie. Legendary!
For other Frank songs, try "That's Life", "Fly Me To The Moon", "The Way You Look Tonight", "Luck Be A Lady", "Summer Wind", "It Had To Be You", and "Witchcraft".
For really early Frank, check out "I Couldn't Sleep A Wink Last Night". It's here on YT as a clip from the 1944 movie "Higher And Higher", which he was in.
Love it!
He was born in 1915, his voice was the best when he was younger before the smokes and booze took its toll on the vocal chords
Check out Sid Vicous' "My Way".
Sinatra was just joking about this being a brand new song. He first recorded this in 1967.
Sinatra recorded it in 1979, not 1967. And in answer to the twins' question of how old he was in 1985 when this was recorded? 69
This was 100% live. Up until rather recently if you lip synched or even had back track of vocals and the audience found out, your career would be over. Look up Milli Vanilli and Ashley Simpson. Now it's fine (and even expected) to not sing live, But then? Hell no. That's why only the most talented singers ever made it back then.
It’s LIVE back then it was real singers. Today it’s TRASH!
