    Thank you, Jon. Your STORY is too often unheard today. I am an Australian Daoist and have lived in Wuhan, China for 17 years. Fortunately the Wudang Mountains are near Wuhan; Wudang Shan is the sacred home of the Dao. The Dao cannot be understood intellectually. It can only be understood intuitively. This is why so many Westerners have great trouble truly understanding it; for example, the "Tao Te Ching" (in Chinese it is the "Dao de Jing". One of the primary lessons of the Dao is virtually the same as yours - a return to nature. In Daoism it means understanding and going WITH nature, not against. The most beautiful elements in our world are 'of nature' - the only beautiful man-made elements in our world are in-line with nature; great art in all its forms. Laozi wrote: "the poet becomes the poem, the dancer becomes the dance" and so it is with all things. If we follow our intuition, as does nature, spontaneity follows; without thought, without judgement, without fear of others' judgement or our concern for reward.
    As an Australian I have long believed we have much to learn from our Aboriginal brothers and sisters, as you have learned from the Caligari people. They hold the ancient wisdom and are willing to share their knowledge with us. We are our only obstacle. We need to truly listen. I fear we have become a population of social media addicts, hearing only sound-bytes of information and calling that wisdom; choosing "LIKES" over substance, knowledge over wisdom.
    My favorite time of day is around 4:30 am when the birds wake-up and start talking to each other, in song. Wuhan is very cold in winter so they fly south and return in spring. Because of the COVID virus I feared they might not return. Imagine my joy several weeks ago when I awoke to hear them chattering :)

    I always love talks like these where we are encouraged to become present, aware and in tune of nature then seeing with wonder and appreciating, loving its beauty. Finally, moving us towards consciousness that our nature needs us now more than ever it give it love backb take care of it and preserve it. 😊 It's like spirituality for me (also a topic i love). This is a peace-giving nature-loving talk. ❤

      What prevents this all-or-nothing fallacy being used to stand as an excuse? Jon rarely or perhaps never claims that technology is a problem. This is so, whether you take technology in the narrowest sense you may have intended (web-based electronic devices) or much more broadly (to include such technologies as greeting customs, wide-angle vision, or forgiveness).
      I happen to be dirt poor (or dirt rich, depending on how highly we assess the value of my multiple compost piles and the extraordinary resilience of my microbiome) and living far away from Jon, so I'm very grateful that he shares so much technology from various indigenous legacies with us via technology from the industrial world.
      And in another talk he points out that the Bushmen love Jackie Chan movies... Digest that one.

    I've been away from my real parents for thirty eight years in returning home as a blinded hostage victim taken away from home by strangers ..but I love my parents I can't wait to return home to them in lucky to be alive trying to keep my patience with people believe me I've bitten my tongue so many times im surprised it's still in one piece ...anyway the things you learn from a bad experience ...beaten and attacked and assaulted by men I could not recognise awful
    This is 38 years of my world I will never forget a story so shocking so far out that the odds of my survival would not have been great ...the very fact that I'm alive is amazing ...thank God ...I have to tell some one my story I guess some folk don't realise what I've been going through ...right now I'm suffering in conscious from a coma and living through a nightmare of all that endured the shock of it all is something I can't begin to describe ...it's like being in shock all of the time ..I have to tell someone what happened to me ...I have to because otherwise I won't have closure ..

      Laura, if you find grief-healing processes that work for you, you'll have found what all of us also need. Over and over in his talks, Jon speaks of how the biggest challenges to nature connection are in the area of fear and trauma; the levels of fear and trauma that ordinary life leaves us with may not be as extreme as what you experience, but it's big enough to keep us from connecting to nature, and we all need to heal.

    Do you know who else suggested good hygiene and quarantining during a pandemic?
    Muhammad, the prophet of Islam, over 1,300 years ago.
    While he is by no means a "traditional" expert on matters of deadly diseases, Muhammad nonetheless had sound advice to prevent and combat a development like COVID-19.
    Muhammad said: "If you hear of an outbreak of plague in a land, do not enter it; but if the plague outbreaks out in a place while you are in it, do not leave that place."
    He also said: "Those with contagious diseases should be kept away from those who are healthy."
    Muhammad also strongly encouraged human beings to adhere to hygienic practices that would keep people safe from infection. Consider the following hadiths, or sayings of Prophet Muhammad:

    • @nicolelyon2530
      @nicolelyon2530 4 года назад +1

      That is wise advice. This originated in the times of the New Testament/Torah. Humans were not aware of things like germs, bacteria and viruses, so God's very specific instructions for his people were to keep them healthy and safe and prevent outbreaks of contagious diseases, bacteria, contamination of food etc. that they knew little to nothing about. Wise people then passed on this information throughout the ages. Unfortunately, I don't think most people were educated in it or practiced it enough throughout later history or there would have been a lot less health problems, plagues and death! Ancient wisdom should never go out of style!
