The cool Johnny Marr, talking cool and playing some cool guitar licks at what looks like an Insurance claims office team meeting
Komo Lee Ray that's how fake the world is, today. They're probably all Radio X staff
sad how you expect music lovers to be they are just people
And you can fully tell half the people in the room have no idea who he is...friggin sad...
Probably Smith fans who grew up with the band it’s that age group
@@bblando65 it's sad to think that anyone might not know this legend. What Marr can do on a guitar is similar to what Pele could do o2a football pitch, just incredible
Noted down all the songs Johnny plays. A couple of gaps to fill in, but I hope you all find it useful. :)

Thanks MattJ, appreciate it.
10:30 William it was really nothing :)
Thanks for indexing!
i love you!!!!
This guy is a class act. I could listen to him all day.
The bit he talks about giving Noel Gallagher an expensive guitar for free cause Oasis were just starting out and they were skint and also helping him out with advice whenever he phoned is brilliant to hear and a measure of the man. A genuine talented guy with a kind heart
I heard that it was Johnny's favourite three-stringed guitar too. Legend!
Freemason, probably...
Not for free, Noel was his little rent boy legend has it
@@teddyboy9116 🤣🤣🤣 ffs mate, what a thing to post on Christmas Day! 🙈🤣
I have no way to check if that was the case but it did make me chuckle 😄
@@leearmstrong9325 haha honestly mate, thats the story, JM was giving Noel a leg up in more ways then one, he already knew alan mghee and introduced Noel allegedly! Haha
Marr is absolute legend, top bloke and very humble.I can listen to him all day.His guitar skills are off the charts.
yep he's my favorite guitar player of all time!!!!
What a lovely and extremely talented honest bloke.
I was the founder /guitarist with Sister Ray. Johnny took my place wen i left. I did show johnny the chords and the song set we were doing at the time. He was a nice young lad. 😎🎸👍
Thanks for the insight! What was your experience with Sister Ray like before leaving? I read Johnny’s biography and am just curious. Cheers 🍻
@@beautroutman6747 my experience with Sister Ray before leaving was ameable. I got on well with all the band and Johnny was a young talented player who i liked very much. He soon learned the songs Sister Ray were doing in the set. I left the band to do other things and Johnny stayed on as guitarist. 🎸
@@alfiehenshall688 that’s awesome man. Thanks for sharing!! Super cool
"The charming man has arrived" love it, he should actually do that as a joke when he enters the room
He’s too modest for that, even if it is a joke.
What an absolute gent… How many other artists sat in that seat would have ‘kicked off’ about the shoddy mic / guitar set up. Johnny takes it in his stride and then apologises for the distraction. Hero! 🎸
Johnny Marr is a rock legend. I love how he leaves the interviewer speechless for most of the clip. He just commands the stage and the audience's attention.
I like his confidence. He does know what he's doing. A quiet genius.
He's a genuine lad... We know the Smiths will never get back together but it's shame he doesn't jam with Andy and Mike. It'd be nice to hear them three again.
His sense of humour is so great, he can easily successed as a standup comedian. What a person!
Thanks for uploading this. An absolute joy to watch!
i think this is enough of a reason why he is my favourite person ever
So glad I stopped by... loved that interview.. JM what an intelligent and inspirational bloke,, awesome
I love watching him play guitar, it's so good!
His stories made me feel very warm inside. So talented and so humble, what a gent!
Johnny Marr is so sweet , an absolute gentleman xx
If you met him you wouldn't think so
@@TheMusikryder I have met him , my partner and I spent time with him before one of his Irish gigs, we spoke for 20 mins he was so lovely an absolute gent. 😎❤ ⭐🎶
@@vlmaguire81 lol what a fantastic and pleasing comeback to a naff comment. I love the internet sometimes!
Great interview. I was going to go swimming but ended up watching all of this in one go. I feel and bit fat now, but worth it. Nice one Johnny!
That's the most narcissistic thing I've ever read in a music related video
1:16:42 = Goosebumps
How Soon Is Now = Disco Stomp?
What track is this??
Damn right mate, Some Girls Are Bigger Than Others is the best riff he ever wrote IMHO, a Smiths jewel
Me too omg
Some of the greatest guitar work ever, combined with some of the most ridiculous lyrics in a song, gotta love it
Absolute genius no other words needed
Great interview!
Amazing insights into songwriting and the genesis of indie
his guitar is part of his body
What a great artist.
this is so, so, so great.
what an extraordinary talented and lovely guy !
I’m watching and love this interview, and Johnny mentions one of his bands, Modest Mouse, just so happens as I’m watching this, a replay of a long ago, November 13, 2004, SNL comes on with Liam Neeson as guest host, and musical guest Modest Mouse, wow!
Nobody plays the guitar like Johnny Marr
He is so BLOODY nice!!
Brilliant thank you
Great interview
Listening to him and charting his work reminds me of Paul Weller. He is a great interview and obviously a guitar genius.
Legend
The Completely Awesome Johnny Marr is GREAT!!!
Living legend. Such a talent and so decent with it. Geezer
A gorgeous talented bloke, love him ❤
Loved ittttt
I wish Johnny’s band could play dashboard, either live or studio version, but I’d like to listen to his vocals over it.
It’s nice that this group of chiropractors got to listen to a Johnny Marr interview prior to boarding their cruise ship.
Haha 😆
Right? Imagine that... A bunch of 80's College Radio Junkies grew up to have professional careers.
Such an excellent player!!!
Without reading the rest of the comments, I'm just going to shout out "LEGEND!!" like I assume everyone else has
Pure Legend
This is it, the Johnny Marr interview I shouldn't miss. I always thought of his guitar-playing with The Smiths as basic & essential as "Poetry In Motion".
Loving the CD, it’s familiar territory and reminiscent of The Smiths, totally diggin it!
This is absolutely brilliant!
You know that the audience members are singing along in their minds when he plays The Smiths' songs.
even Johnny Marr doesn't know what Johnny Marr plays
????
@@theloniouscoltrane3778 reference to a comment/praise made by Noel Gallagher
Something like that but not quite right.
Gotta love all these detractors criticising Johnny Marr's hair, his personality and lack of charisma from behind their computers while he's just back from a world tour promoting his 18th album.
I'm sure he's so worried about their opinions. Or possibly not.
Lack of charisma? Really? Funny, I didn't get that feeling in the slightest. :) As for hair, he's lucky he still has it at his age.
Johnny Marr playing here in a raw sounding setting I've just realised that I reckon he should recognise some influence from Vini Reilly from The Durutti Column. Great guitarist and great band also from Manchester.
Have a lovely easter
51 year old me didn't know much about Johnny Marr.
I'm a new fan. Very chill and laid back.
A joy x
Am due a new hip because of this man 🤘❤️
amazing talent...both in playing the instrument and in musical composition...a giant...
'Hi Hello' what a tune. Killer diller 👍
That chord change Johnny mentions was definitely used by Magazine (Motorcade) and I think Television used it.
Crazy trem control, as you'd expect. Cool to hear the How Soon is Now origin story. Always find it so cool how he seems to have no hangups talking about The Smiths and playing those songs, and yet doesn't fall into nostalgia peddling, is still a contemporary artist. New album is killer.
Imp Raving I’ve always wondered what he sets his trem to. You can get an idea of what it is from listening to the recording, but to be able to get the speed and intensity precisely to what he sets it to would be awesome.
P Murderrr Yep, try doing that live.
Marr plays the Fender Jaguar, memories float around the audience.
Johnny Darlin', you were living close enough for me to touch and I didn't realize...but you were living in Portland Oregon -AMAZING😘🍵😘!!! (you could have called Me...)
Marr was always the coolest part of the smiths for me
Reckon that “Goodnight” was taken from Elvis’ 68 comeback when he preformed “Baby What You Want Me To Do” I believe it’s that song anyway. Pretty funny either way.
Best interview 😂
Does anybody know which band Marr mentions at around 56:00? Something like Boy Zooger? I got Goat Girl, PINS, LoneLady, Courtney Barnett, She Drew the Gun, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, but I just can't find that last one.
Singular guitarist without question
Hi hello is a truly great song
Idol
Way to go .......Finishing the "NEW YORK" marathon in 2010 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 2022
Great
Marr says he just repeats the same process of music creation he learned as a teen.
1:13:40 Bond....
Fantastic night
Listen to the Jiants - tornado , you’ll see how close it is to h s i n , and of course Tarheel slim and bo diddley too, goes back to the early 50s!
This charming man he is…….
Lake placid Blue. I am soaked
15:55 “Smithsy”
Just saw him....Fantastic!!! He does not need the Smiths lineage, he is killing it with his songs....really great. Total pro.
Yes he is
He looks like that Scottish BBC presenter, the lad that does Coast, Neil Oliver; they drink from the same pond.
Wino Sophie is there too!
“Hi Hello” makes me a bit sad because I love it more than anything he’s made since the Smiths, and though he admits it’s totally his sound, it seems to be kind of “old schtick” to him, and I just wish that he would acknowledge that this IS his sound, and that’s what made him famous, and that’s better than “okay.” It’s fantastic.
What is that "this night has opened my eyes" chord?
someone help him with that mic stand for the love of god!
Johnny Marr
The 12 string part is the hook of the song. Play it live. Or as a bass player I will find more strings and make happen
Behind the back, the interviewer looks like Morrissey...
1:03:37
We see you...
I think...He is a proper guitar bum..still nowadays. strictly and respectably. I never get into The Smith but his guitar..I love it!
which song is he playing at 14:36, is it on his Cribs album ?
"Hi Hello" off of the album: Call The Comet (2018).
Who’s doing the fucking sound! Give him some fucking help with that mic! Fuck’n hell! What a treat to see and hear him again. Finally...
2 years ago today
That audience 🤣🤣🤣
The best 85 minutes of today by far! So far...😅
1:16:42 heaven
what song is Johnny Marr playing here @1:23:33
You really got me going by the kinks
Johnny Johnny Johnny Fucking Marr!!!
In answer to your question, J is doing fine and has got used to One driving through the drive thru and singing to him and ordering silly things which makes him laugh. One now turns up and he knows so he always states ‘That will be a latte then?’ Before One even opens Ones mouth. Repetitive work is good for dealing with traumatic events and we even pretended to be cars going through the drive through on foot on a day when we never knew what time he finished his shift so we could go down the beach surfing and got a free ice cream out of it because the manager though we were complaining that the ice cream whip that was missing from the order without the topping was an actual order missing so we giggled and then pretended to drive down to the next window in our pretend car and One made fabulous ‘brum, brum’ noises and got a free ice cream and made everyone laugh and then One sang ‘Thank you very much’ in the most beautiful tones going apparently and it made everyone smile. Then we waited and went to the beach for tea.
He has recovered well so don’t worry. Thank you for asking. Little steps with laughter always helps aid traumatic events recovery and plus he gets a staff discount too which helps Ones support in the gastric region. Nice arse by the way!
wtf
Go on...
He’s just choosing suggested phrases that appear above his keyboard randomly. Old hat, my friend; old hat.
They should've said no recording on mobile phones, it annoys me people are just sitting there watching through a screen.
Just throw on growler seals for strap locks marr.
He’s best work was with the smiths
