You seem to be the first to actually review and swatch these new paints! Thank you so much. While the colors are nice, the texture looks to be a challenge to use in painting.
You are the first person I’ve seen with these new watercolors. I have some of the A. Gallo versions though not all. I feel like doing my own comparison with the A. Gallo watercolors I have and the Schmincke versions you have. Thanks.
I bought these colors as soon as they where available! I’m really curious to see how these dry down and rewet. Let me know how these watercolors compare to A. Gallo!
@@filsartjourney I don’t think I’ll buy these but they are interesting and fun to look at. When I do a comparison with my A. Gallo colors and your Schmincke colors I’ll let you know. ☺️
Interesting colours and raw materials.I would want to buy them if I did not already have more than I can use. I would be interesting to see how they layer.
Hullo, I want to thank you for showing us these paints. I am not sure why these paints are desired as they seem to me to be convenience colors? The only color that has truly intrigued me has been Ynminblu? Probably spelled that wrong. This new pigment is really the one color that simply has not existed before and so it is one I would truly like to try! I will say it’s price has kept me from buying any! I have to say that my go to brands have not gotten around to making any paints from this new pigment either, just another reason why I have not been in a rush to buy it! Thank you for sharing your experience with these new paints from Schmincke.
i have used YInMn Blue. and unless you already have a lot of different blues. like Ultra Marine or Cobalt Blue, it's not not much different from these two. but it is quite a nice tone. amazing mass tone, but quite boring in a light wash. i actually really like using it. so if you ever think it's worth it, buy it.
You’re welcome! These horadam naturals aren’t convenience colors but natural plant and mineral based colors. I do have a video about the Schmincke YInMn Blue and Yintico red.
I’m back. I have swatched out my four A. Gallo watercolors. The AG green earth warm is very similar to the Schmincke green earth cool. I agree the AG rose madder is on the cool side a looks more pink. The AG dragon’s blood is on the cool side and the AG stil de grain is more yellow. The Schmincke version looks a little green. Looking at your AG swatches they are very light. My swatches are more pigmented, I’m not sure if it’s the camera or my eyesight! I put a drop of water on my AG half pans and let them sit for at least a minute which helps loosen up the pigment. Anyway, this was fun and interesting, 😊
Ordered through Jackson’s online….bet they sell out fast. Can’t wait to get them. I have the AGallo naturals..and love them. I’m sure these will be marvelous! Thanks for the review.
@@filsartjourney another comment on a review mentioned the lightfastness of these new colors..that was very good. I’ll find out when I get them from Jackson’s. It should take about a week to get to the US.
I just received a line and swat them and I’m very pleased with them. Lightfastness may be an issue, but I’m not selling anything. I’m just basically enjoying the painting process. So lightfastness is not so much an issue with me at this time. I love the colors, I did not seem to have any of the issues that I’ve seen other videos talking about color, separation, binder, separation, etc. they were overfilled to some extent and the pressure pushed the paint out so I basically used to do my color swatches with. I think they’re beautiful. I love the subtle colors and I love the natural look.
Wow you were fast! I’ve just found out about these and was curious as to what they look like on paper, your swatches were very helpful. I ultimately decided not to get these as most of them are not excellent lightfast rated, understandably being created from natural pigments. I already have a good amount of mineral watercolours handmade so I think I’m ok. I did get their liquid earths though 🤦🏻♀️
I bought three of these today, as soon as they were available at my local art store. I wish Schmincke was producing these in the 5ml size, I would have bought more. As they are all 15ml and $20 each on special I just bought a primary trio of indigo, madder and turmeric.
I hope anyone seeing these comments will avoid wasting their money on these. I don’t think they should have released most of these paints. I ignored the videos showing the streakiness due to my art supply obsession but I wish I hadn’t. I used several different of the best quality cotton papers and even diluted them right down to almost no pigment and still the gummy streakiness. The binder also dries at a different rate to the water so you get patches of dry paint then clumps of darker paint that takes ages to dry. I would only recommend buying these if you want a very pretty box and you want your artwork to have a faux-naive look to the finished texture. Two yellows are okay (of the two sets) and the blue is alright and a matte brown colour. The rest are honestly some of the worst paints I’ve ever used and I have a lot lot of paints. I find it hard to let go of art supplies I don’t use much (the PH Martin’s watercolours for example) but I’m considering selling these and losing most my money. In context the only other paints I ever gave away were cotman, and cotman are mostly better than these. Green earth is always a very pale pigment and often gummy but this one just dries so badly and clumps and you can’t get a nice fine wash with it. Wet in wet the paint doesn’t budge an inch.
Oh no! These paints are streakier compared to the horadam line. I have made a follow up video with an actual review. Have you tried using it dried from a pan or palette? For me I found them to work better dried from a half pan. I hope you didn’t buy too many tubes.

You're welcome! These watercolors are really new, so review will slowly pop up. I have to test out these watercolors myself😊
We hope you're having fun creating art with our HORADAM Naturals :)
I will!
I was hoping the swatches would convince me I don’t need them. But now I need them even more 😂
Thanks for sharing them!
Oh no am I that persuasive! I definitely do an in depth review! The half pans are still drying, so I can’t wait to see how these watercolors rewet.
@@filsartjourney looking forward to the review. They look beautiful.
Oh my! Beautiful colors!! I don't need more paints, but they are definitely worth considering 😁 Thank you for sharing!
Oh wow I didn't know there were so many new colors! Thank you for the review 🥰
So many colors! A lot to play with 😊

The madder lake has a good lightfast rating (4 stars) but this pigment tends to be fugetive.

Enjoy your new paints! Great trio. I find that the 5ml size can be more expensive compare to 15ml (prize per ml)
Interesting colours! Does it dry properly in the pans?
Yes they do! I like how they rewet, they are a little harder to rewet compare to their horadam but easier than super granulating watercolors
Jackson’s online says these natural paints are a mix of watercolor and gouache. I agree, you probably need to do a lightfast test of your own.
I agree! I don’t have enough windows to test it on my own😅
The Schmincke Madder Lake looks a lot like a madder brown.
It does look similair! A granulating madder brown!
