I THINK I SPEAK FOR EVERYONE, BUT THIS IS WHAT WE'VE BEEN WAITING FOR. THANKS JESSICA
o my god yes !
Thanks so much for watching ^_^
Agreed. Thanks Jessica for doing this. I learned new thing today.
Agreed :)
You do speak for a lot of us... but why in God’s name are you screaming at the top of our lungs 😂😂🔝🙏
If you hold down shift on your keyboard while clicking on the "Open" button from Camera Raw, Photoshop will open your image as a Smart Object. The beauty of this is you can double-click the photo's thumbnail in the Layers panel and it will re-open the Camera Raw window with all your saved corrections. That way you can go back and update any settings as necessary after the fact.
why i didnt know this for 2 years omg
Holy shit thank you!
thank you so so much! I've been searching how to do it for years lol
This is just plain brilliant - god I love finding out all these little tricks in Photoshop
Joshua Krohn, you beautiful bastard. Thanks!
I need to stop watching these videos. I'm such a beginner and this is so intimidating
... copy the techniques and use it, make it your own or adept.
same bruv
Aaron Clarke Im getting into photography but it’s making me feel weird I’d never be able to do this without years of practice ..🙁I just want to be able to do it already
@@Trinityver Same here. Honestly feel like learning photoshop to pursue photography could be a steeping stone.
I\'m not sure but ,if anyone else wants to uncover learn adobe photoshop online try Alkarno Picture Alchemist (Have a quick look on google cant remember the place now ) ? Ive heard some interesting things about it and my friend got cool success with it.
me after watching the entire video on how she got her photo to look like that : how she do that
Jaw dropped when I saw the final before and after. I've been editing in Lightroom for 4 years and I think now is the time to make the transition to start using Photoshop more. The way she has control over the background and skin tones is insane. Amazing video and super easy to follow!
I‘m like:oh that looks good, keep it like that
*jessica does next step*
Holy ok but now
*next step*
Ok well wow
It's like watching a Bob Ross Tutorial 😂 haha
Only partway through and already I’m learning a lot. Thank you for another great video!
Thank you so so much!! So happy to read that!
Every photo-retouching tutorial you put out, levels me up x10 ... techniques I shall take to my photo-editing grave. Thank you
When you begin with editing photos, you often don't know when to stop - so it's either missing the finer details, or, more often, it's totally overdone. Eyes white like snow in the sunlight, a skin smoother than Barbie plastic, dramatic effects more fit for the Apocalypse: all that was natural gone with the wind. But the good news is - you learn by doing it more often, and by going back to your previous work, and look critically at the way you used all these possibilities that come with Photoshop.
What can also be helpful in the beginning - do all these adjustments, save the file with all the different layers intact, then look at it 24 hours later. You will often see where you went overboard more easily, and then you have the ability to correct it right away.
Hi Jessica.
I haven’t watch all of your retouching videos but I did look for and learn how to make the two frequency layers and how to use them. Awesome!
I would like to suggest a technique if you are working on photos of older people. If you want to minimize wrinkles without getting rid of them completely (yes, wrinkles are cool), I have had the best results by using the eraser tool with a soft edge brush on low opacity on the texture layer to soften the wrinkles. The healing brush just wipes the, out completely which I don’t always want. The stamp tool can add a layer of color or other texture I don’t really want.
Anyway, just thought I’d share my experience using the techniques you have taught me.
Thanks a bunch!
Hey Jessica! I’m a 12 y/o girl a year ago i discovered your channel and I loveee it! Later I want to be a photographer/traveller and you are a very big inspiration for me so I Just really wanted to Thank you!💗

Love this tutorial, their really helping me😍😍 So obsessed with your channel, specially since I’m trying to be a better photographer😍
This is so subtle yet so beautiful! Thank you for sharing your process with us :)
LOVED THIS VIDEO! Having someone with a personality who is actually working in the field showing us how to do something? GOLD.
Hey! I’m eleven, I’m taking photography class, and I’m trying to learn how I can do better! Tysm for this editing video, I knew nothing about retouching and this really helped me!
Hussein Hosny thanks so much!
do more of these! its exactly the type of video i need as a starting photographer. 4 photographers shoot the same model is also very helpful and inspiring. :)
“YOU WENT FROM WINTER IN DETROIT TO BOOM YOURE IN MIAMI”😂😂
Thank you, ma'am, I am an amateur photographer and I generally do street and documentary photography. Recently I've started practising portrait and I was struggling to figure out the retouching and colouring of portraits and your video helped me a lot. Still a long way ahead for me.
I really appreciated how you explained your reasoning behind why you did certain adjustments and showed us what a certain adjustment did. I often get confused in those parts when watching editing tutorials. THANKS JESSICA :)
Great video.. Really find your skin coloring and general color grading very useful. Thank you.
I literally followed this to edit my first ever portrait in photoshop. Thanks so much! Hoping to learn much more.
Every stage looked so good, how do you know when to stop?!
*never going to get the hang of this photography/editing lark* 😭
Thank You so so much! I'm a new chilean photography student and this is an amazing class for me, love it!
thank you so much. just inspired me to go out and shoot more. means a lot, can't stress this enough!
I love that you are not a “technical” photographer... because your work doesn’t get boring to look at.... I love watching your channel because you have fun... that is what is so inspiring... leaving my full time job in July in hopes of making photography my thing officially... I want to get a group of my photog friends together to do a shoot the same model challenge!! So fun!!! Keep up the great content👌🏻
Superb control and execution! I love how you deploy yellow, selective color and gradients
More videos like these please! I’m amazed at how good it looks
Can we please get a tutorial on how you've been doing those grainy, film looking pictures on your Instagram? 💙
This is the best kinda tutorial I have watched thus far. It was so easy to follow. Loved it!
thanks a lot for this video! I'm a new fan and tbh I just legit started taking photos for like months ago. Before this video I was like random editing my photos on lightroom and it all based on my instincts. So thanks a lot for showing me how to edit photos as professional and thoughts behind it. I would LOVE more videos like this if you still have time for that. THANKS!
Jessica, I just have to say, how much you and Brandon ( who I assume is a close or just a friend I yours ) have inspired me to do photography. I love yours and Brandon’s work and I love every single one of both of your videos. If it wasn’t for you and Brandon who inspired me to start photography, I wouldn’t be getting a camera for my 13th birthday this year, and I wouldn’t be doing photography in year ten ( I am British so it isn’t grade, and I’ll be doing it in 2 years time ) as an extra lesson. You and Brandon have created a whole new world for me to explore and learn in, and i thank you and Brandon so much for that. You and Brandon are my inspirations and I adore you both so much.
If you see this, please share this with Brandon so he can know too 💕
You’ve literally leveled me up. Thank you sm
This photo came out really good! I absolutely love the process! Great work Jessica!
you're sooo good! love seeing female photographers and editors, so inspiring:)
I simply tuned in because I know the amount of time and energy that one has to invest when using Photoshop. I would use it to make GIFs for Tumblr. And can I just say this was extremely satisfying to watch lol! I also appreciate how this had shed some tips on simple yet profound adjustments 💖👏🏽✨ I would hire you any day to do my photography
“Me being serious and then BAM - a bad joke” 😂😂😂 story of my life
Thank you for this amazing tutorial!
LOVE THIS! Please do more vids like this, you're super helpful
Thank you. My goal is to learn more Photoshop this year. I'm pretty comfortable in Lightroom. But not in Photoshop. And I don't really know why. With everything I learn. There's this point in the beginning where I need other people to show me stuff. And then I get over some kind of a hump. And I can then learn on my own. Just by experimenting. And going through the menus. But Photoshop is not that way. I just can't get over that hump. It's like every selection on the menu does things I can't imagine, and needs me to do things that I don't know need to be done. But I'm in. I'm going to watch videos even if I don't understand them. Hoping that some time this year I will get over that hump.
Your edits are amazing. I love seeing photographers use photoshop to color edit as it is usually always lightroom now
I really struggel with color corrections and this video helped me so much!

Extreme love that!!!! I madre it and ufffff the Best i can learn so far! Much love!
MY LAYER ADJUSTMENTS QUEEN
Completely different work flow to me, which is brilliant love learning thanks for sharing, great result can't wait to try this.
Hey Jessica! Absolutely loved the tutorial! Another non-destructive way I like to edit photos is that I open the RAW file in Photoshop, once the Camera Raw dialogue box opens, I open the image right away without making any changes. Once I'm in Photoshop, I convert the layer to a smart object and then open it up in Camera Raw. This way I can go back and make any changes to the raw file if I need to. You could try out this technique and see how you like it! Thanks :D
Thank you for sharing! I can wait to watch the frequency separation video. I recently tried working with the technique after watching Phlearn but it appears you do something different. Always love your content (especially the jokes 😉😆)
You seriously make me smile....
