    As a kid, I never called this game Test Drive 2, I didn't even know that's what it was called until much later. For me, it was always... THE DUEL! 😂 Such a great game, with an amazing intro song

    The ST and Amiga shine with these types of games and it shows. Nothing else at the time could compete.

      @@IntoTheVerticalBlank why did you get a SVGA 386 DOS machine in 1992 or 1993?

    • @IntoTheVerticalBlank
      @IntoTheVerticalBlank 2 года назад

      @@jasonlee7816 Yes. A Trident SVGA card that was non-standard, 386DX40 with 40MB HD 2 MB of RAM and a generic color monitor. Running DOS 3.0. It took a little while of going through the best shareware games to find ones that were as good or better than ST/Amiga games. Commander Keen and the Wolf3D were the best along with Halloween Harry and Dune 2

    Accolade was one of the top publishers on the Commodore 64 and Amiga. I owned quite a few of their games on my C64. Accolade/Ballistic butchered the Genensis port; as with many of the games they did on that system. The SNES version is impressive though; especially given the slower CPU.

    SNES does look good for speed and smoothness, but the lines on the road appear to move twice as fast compared to the objects on the side of the road.

    • @jasonlee7816
      @jasonlee7816 2 года назад

      would you prefer it the other way?
      SNES CPU 3.55 MHz PAL regions or 3.58 MHz NTSC regions i guess it was too difficult or not possible for the objects on the side of the road move twice as fast as the lines on the road

    "BALLISTIC PRESENTS!!!" ...sorry... though have to say the SNES at least in terms of the road seems the smoothest, at least in terms of how the road is moving and steering...music though... hmm.. Genesis.. or C64 for some reason for me..the Atari ST surprised me

    I remember when this game was how you showed off the power of your computer. The better the comp, the better it looked. Did anyone have a steering wheel controller at the time to play it with? KB controls just sucked.

    • @jasonlee7816
      @jasonlee7816 2 года назад

      Amiga Test Drive ll didn't look or doesn't seem much better than the Atari ST version unless you had it on the Amstrad, Commodore 64, ZX Spectrum, after it was released on the Sega Genesis/Mega-Drive + SNES in 1991/1992 it left the Amiga/Atari ST version in the past

      I imagine it would have been possible to use a mouse to steer the car, it usually was with these types of games to provide the precise analogue control which suited the gameplay.
