I think @DreamingSpanish is inspirational and very useful, but that Pablo needs to develop reading material or provide guidance on how it fits into his system. I am finding the transition to intermediate difficult or impossible without text support. It would be very good to have Pablo's input on this. What do you think, Shane?
@@apaul9776 we did speak a little bit about reading, I know he is a big fan of extensive reading but I'm not sure if he has any plans to release any of his own books specifically
@@apaul9776 I’d recommend trying Harry Potter.. especially if you’ve already read them in English so know the story quite well. It’s a bit of a slog at first, but if you can keep going little by little your reading will improvement really quickly. I think I got to about book 4 and by that point I felt ready to start reading the same kind of things I would in English.
I definitely agree, Harry Potter was hugely helpful for me and I hadn’t even read the books in English but I knew the story well enough from the film, worth persevering!
I love the way Pablo approaches language learning. If we just put his videos on for an hour everyday in my high school classes, I would have learned so much more!
Estoy en el medio del video y ya me encanta ! Todavía es un poco difícil para mi a describir mis pensamientos tan claro y tu lo haces con tan fluidez . Es muy impresionante . Buen trabajo Shane 🔥🔥🔥
this is a great series. There are some amazing teachers on the internet, and getting their insight is really interesting. A request would be Dr Danny Evans! The man is the epitome of sound pedagogy. Look forward to this interview. Thanks for what you're doing!
@@ShaneGodliman awesome! Keep doing what you're doing, really inspiring seeing another Brit accomplish foreign language proficiency (we don't have a good rep for doing that!), esp as an adult learner. I guess it depends on what you mean by the best thing I suppose, it was definitely the key to improving my confidence in speaking, but the key to having the vocabulary and the understanding of the structures etc was definitely more from input, specifically reading I would say was the biggest thing that gave me noticeable improvements
Gracias! Gracias Shane! Como siempre - muy buena charla:) Saludos!
Hey shane do you think Español con Juan is good immersion or does he sorta lower his spanish to a B2 level? I like his tips and not only could i understand this conversation but also Juan as well. I'm having trouble getting to that C1 level as it took me 3 months to get to b2 and now I presume it will take maybe a year to get to C1 (im 6 months in btw haha). I'm curious about the Español con Juan channel because I'm looking for something slightly above or native material that I can eventually understand that isn't just a 1 hour movie or 2 season show. But as always with comprehensible input i'm constantly looking for new material to peak my interest, also because of what pablo said about reading harry potter I picked up a couple books and plan on reading them (b2 level books after a quick google search)
I think realistically if you’re looking at moving to C1 then you’re not going to be doing that with specifically made comprehensible input, at that level pretty much everything should be comprehensible anyway. You should definitely be focusing on native content made for natives if your goal is C1. So español con Juan might have some videos but his content is really aimed at intermediate learners
Honestly I think everyone is different, that is one way to do it, other people might not include it at all, I personally dont include it just to make it easier but I don’t see a problem with marking it as 30 minutes
My apologies, I know it’s a bit quiet for some people depending on what you’re listening on, but you can definitely still hear it on most devices. I will double check the levels next time!

That would be so cool!
Pablo actually knows Japanese so I think that's possible
There’s a channel named “Comprehensible Japanese” that’s very well done.

Question … When doing a private lesson for hour … should you count 30 mins as input since your listening to Spanish ? I know speaking is output .

Thanks . Watching tv shows with subtitles both in Spanish. is this comprehensible input?
Awesome interview, Shane. It is a bit difficult to hear you over the speakers.
Thank you! Yeah seems like I did a bad job of the audio on this one, it seemed ok when I was editing it
I have a hella long way to go
You need to increase the audio levels in your videos bro. I struggle to hear sometimes even at max volume. Thanks!
Yeah I need to find a better way to check it because it sounded ok when I was editing!
Volumen us too low
Such a shame, would have loved to listen to this but can hardly hear it.
