    The valve is a good idea, BUT only works practically on upper decks of 5th wheels due to the vertical spacing requirements so leaves out the vast majority of the travel trailer community. The cost and complexity of building pedestals just isn’t justifiable in most cases.

    • @rvgearandfar
      @rvgearandfar  2 месяца назад

      However, I think if its designed in from the beginning - the valve could be horizontal and then drop into black tank - you're correct - retrofit on TT is going to be difficult- but I think OEM could easily incorporate it without significant changes.

  • @jerry-381
    @jerry-381 2 месяца назад +2

    Seems like a great addition for a new RV. I spend a considerable amount of time flushing my black tank. Sure would be nice not to have to do that. However I don’t see the valve being successful for retrofits. Awesome video!

    • @rvgearandfar
      @rvgearandfar  2 месяца назад

      I'd agree - unless its a 5er or Class A that has easy and clear access with all the plumbing necessary in the right location - it'll probably be more suited for an OEM install.

    My questions would be, 1.) are manufacturers making a list of current and past models that this will work in (i.e. real estate inside the rig to make the install happen), 2.) will parts such as pipe length(s) be pre-cut, or will they send you a single pipe and you cut the length(s) you need, and will the kit include pipe cleaner and glue, or to keep costs down, have the purchaser swing by their nearby home improvement/hardware store and pick it up.

    • @rvgearandfar
      @rvgearandfar  Месяц назад

      I very highly doubt manufacturers will ever spend the time to create such a list, so don't expect it, and the y-valve is the only part I think you'll get - any additional piping, glue, tools etc will need to be provided - which is why they are recommending them be installed by RV Tech's that will have the know how and equipment to correctly accomplish this.

    my hose MUST lay on the ground due to the outlet being so low to the ground so guess this is a no-go for me(the trap item)...... as for the bypass I just don't see the importance? if it was pre-installed at build then ok might use but am not paying big $ for the option...

      Good point, but the marine "Y" valve is only 1-1/2" diameter and only works with macerated waste. The RV Residential Flush valve is the standard 3" diameter required for the passage of raw sewage. Thank you for your comment!

    I doubt that this works well, because draining your black tank will provide the necessary volume of water to get all of the waste through the rv sewer hose. I seriously doubt his claims that a single flush from a rv toilet will carry the solid waste all the way to the dump station inlet.

      No personal experience to speak from here, but I’d also like to point out that EZ RV Solutions had to sell MORryde on the whole thing to get to this point too - time and community data points will tell

      @@rvgearandfar Data points from unbiased sources might become available in the future, but I sure wouldn’t spend my money on something like this that attempts to fix a nonexistent problem, and it appears from a common sense perspective, to be unworkable. My background is in construction, engineering and code enforcement, so I know a thing or two about plumbing, as well as my experience with RV camping.

      Thank you for your comment! EZ RV Solutions has been field testing the RV Residential Flush system for more than two years with both RV & residential style toilets in multiple full-time family units. Your concern, was also our concern when developing the system. We were very pleasantly surprised to observe that single flush usage actually preforms exceptionally well, and we now have accumulated over two years of in-field empirical data to confirm. We recommend an extra cleansing flush after large waste sessions, which will final rinse the trap and sewer hose. For RV style toilet applications, you must fill the toilet bowl 1/3 to 1/2 before flushing to the sewer. Thank you again!

I turn off my hot water eater while I’m traveling then when I’m Boondocking, I turn it on to heat the water but as I use the water, the heat hot water heater turns on to keep the water hot which wastes a lot of energy. I don't know. As overly expensive as rvs are now, another reason to raise the cost? Some long stays might see a benefit. It might fall into nice to have but not essential. The more moving parts and complicated we make these systems the more potential failures. Pull valves used to be so dependable, now they fail at an alarming rate, and of course a company is there to sell a dependable pull valve. Real field testing by real rivers that really use it not lab geeks and managers looking for another revenue stream. If it passes the full timer stationary testing maybe an option. Problem is we are getting less options now just get what the manufacturer says we need, because it saves them money... Just my thoughts. 😊 Go Army!!

      I think it'll definitely be something that is more popular installed during the manufacturing process than retrofitting

  • @tbdrummer67
    @tbdrummer67 Месяц назад

    This looks more like a solution in search of a problem. I can't for the life of me see how that would install as a retrofit without completely replumbing the black tank. My toilet sits right on top, with about 4 inches of drop into the black tank. There's zero room to install this without moving the entire tank. I suspect most rigs are similar. You'd have to relocate the black tank to create enough space for the valve.
    I can't really see a need for this.
