This helped me alot. My Blackwater valve was stuck open.It was clogged and full and I didn't know how I was going to fix it without spilling some nastiness everywhere while taking the valve apart. I used to work in the aquarium.industry sonthis video made a lot of sense. Cleared it right up... so well that I didnt even have to take the blackwayer valve out. Thank you!!!

Guys! I could hug you right now! I am 62 years old and facing hip replacement surgery next month and waiting for my disability checks to start coming and my black tank got stuck. It is very painful for me to kneel down and deal with this, but, I had to. I was so upset to think I might have to spend money ( I don't have yet ) to get someone to get it unclogged. I would have spent time waiting for some kind of drain cleaner, you get the picture. I did not have any help, so I used my broom (bristles up) to hold up the hose . I was able to fill it up enough to close the grey tank, then jerk it around like you showed, then threw it to the ground. I soon heard the beautiful sound of liquids coming down and to verify it worked I saw other 'stuff' coming out and I knew it worked! I actually teared up. Thank you so much, sorry for the long post, but, it's people like you that should get a Nobel Peace Prize :) No tools, no money, just worked. THANK YOU!!!!!!!

Hi Aiden, the black tank empties better the more water you have in there, but if it’s blocked, it is worrying to add more water to the problem. But ultimately, yes, we would typically flush the tanks as much as possible when doing this. We’re pretty confident that this trick will work. The worse we’ve seen is that you do this trick a few times. Nobody has ever reported that it doesn’t work 🤷♂️👍👍
I don’t put toilet paper in my black water tank. I fold it and put it in a separate trash bag. That stops clogging.

Hahaha. Oh, I know exactly how you feel. That’s exactly how we were when we figured this out. It was late on a Sunday, we were leaving Monday morning. Everything was closed so we couldn’t go and buy any tools or fancy gadgets. So glad this worked for you 👍

Absolutely full tank (the gurgling type!) and only a slow, slow trickle coming out. Used this technique twice, pulled the plug and out with a rush it came!!

You might add that one needs to put a dissolver such as RidX in toilet for a day or so to help break up sludge & clean tank out better

Just brilliant! I had tried filling the hose with gray water and dropping it to try and pull the clog out with suction, but it never occurred to me to force that water into the black tank. Worked first time, on a clog that I have been dealing with for a week! Many thanks for making this video!!

Whenever I get a blocked black tank I just shut all the valves hook it up to the tow vehicle and drive around on some pretty rough roads. I do it for around 30 min or so then when I go to the dump station wala it usually empties right away.

I tried every trick in the book while camping. Nothing worked and we were only hooked up to water and electricity. I tried this trick while dumping sewage on the way home and it worked first try! Boiling water, chemicals, and plungers did nothing, but this really works

Even if it's sewage in the tube, as long as it's full of liquid, simply lift the tube and lower it repeatedly, and the suction will move the paper clog.

Let me skip several chapters and just say that our black tank was full of paper that was about the texture of wet paper-mache. I could not back flush it nor could I get a hose up into the tank from the discharge outlet. I have a 20' plumber's snake, couldn't get that up to the tank either. I turned the water off at the source and ran the snake down from the toilet. The snake is stiff enough to feel whatever it bumps against and to more or less guide the working end towards the three inch discharge pipe. I kept working it until, by feel, I found the tank end of the pipe. I'd bent a hook in the working end of the tape and with a little more working it in and out it broke through the plug and WHOOSH! Everything rushed out. The girlfriend's nineteen year old son is useing the motor home to live in for the summer. I had shown him how to manage the tanks and warned him of three things. First that he WAS going to get the tank plugged up, second that I was going to unplug it once and only in his presence and last, when classes resume in the fall his lease on OUR motor home is up.

We used this trick a few times before we got the management part down to the point where we wouldn't clog it. You are a miracle worker! Thank you for posting this trick. Only one suggestion: make sure your connection to your rig is very tight. When I shook the hose filled with water I actually accidentally twisted the pipe. And as the water came after the plug un plugged the hose dropped to the ground. You can imagine what happened next 😮... Immediately closed the black tank. Fortunately the water that came out first was the fresh water we had just put in the Grey tank. Alls well that ends well, and this problem ended well.

My wife and I are on our fourth trip with our trailer, and had her first real black water tank issue. Doing this plus connecting a hose (and rinsing through) the backflush spigot completely emptied the tank. Thank you so much for making this video, it reduce my stress level significantly! 😊🙌

We tried it and it worked great..black tank unclogged. Be sure to have the other end connected to the sewer...when it unclogs, stuff flows fast. Thank you for sharing this tip.

Yup. We never tried this method but we spent Hella money on the stuff that supposedly breaks it down and so far only this orange/red stuff is the only thing that worked. But it took time. So I think ima try this method next time I empty it. 🤔

Great idea. I have actually seen this method used successfully.
On another note, as you said yourself, it's usually the toilet paper that will cause a clog like this, especially if you leave your black tank dump valve open all the time while at a campground - which you should not do. In that case all your liquid continually drains and your hard waste and paper stays behind forming that ugly outhouse pyramid. Only open your black tank dump valve when you are ready to empty it - around 2/3rds full. You need the liquid to help the solids flow out.
Another note ... in our many years of RVing we have never put any toilet paper down our toilet. We keep a small pail beside the toilet with a plastic bag in it. Any paper used goes into the bag instead of the toilet and gets discarded - immediately if you just went #2 - into the trash bin. You can even use a Diaper Genie. From the many campers I've talked to I find that more and more people are also doing this.
Toilet paper is also notorious for plugging up the tank level sensors ... which we don't have to worry about. Also, if you use the recommended, hideously thin RV toilet paper you're no doubt familiar with the finger up bum thing. Well, with our pail method you can still use your favorite home brand of toilet paper and enjoy the "go".
Hi Rick! All good points there for sure. We have seen an increase of the number of people who do not discard toilet paper into the toilet. Personally, we just ensure that we have plenty of water in there before during and after use and we haven't had a problem. We might reconsider this when boondocking though in order to conserve water usage and blacktank capacity. Great info though from all your years experience. Thank you!

Crap... I just came home with a close to full black tank same problem. I could have easily done this at the dump but did NOT know about it.
