This is such a lovely property with so many bonuses, like the brook, woods (free wood) and waterfalls in the winter... a kids paradise and beautiful views for the grownups, I can't wait to see the rest of the magic turning this gem into a home! 🙂

Please use extreme caution around fast rivers cause slides can happen without warning and move whole hill sides, I’m sure you know this but they are so common in British Columbia Canada especially after dry summers. Whole mountain sides come down, it’s so scary
Colorado here, I thought the same. I would find it a very good reason to move the fairy house. You don’t want the children to go near there, on their own especially. Water moving that fast is dangerous even for adults.
Yes definitely it’s so powerful, the children and dogs only go down there when we are with them but your right definitely something to be careful of! ☺️

There will be but we need to sort all out drainage out first so they will come back to do that ☺️

RiP the lawn! I can't wait to see what's next! So beautiful beams! Shou sugi ban "treatment" wouldn't be a natural way to preserve wood from bugs ( I personaly use "wood-bliss", it's said natural treatment...)?
You truly have found a beautiful property. If you wish to age your stone apply a weak acid like lemon juice, vinegar, old cider, sour milk, almost anything with a sour taste. Oxalic acid is sold at hardware stores. What this liquid reaction does it to make little gaps and pits for microbes to take hold of. Bark from trees is harder to remove the longer a tree is cut down. Take the bark ASAP. The ends of your beams are most prone to damage from water and bugs protect them well. Boa Sorte Following from Australia.

Very encouraging progress in such a lovely setting. I wonder about the trench and the berm the kids were playing in. Will that be finished off with a French drain? Seems like it might eventually collapse with all the rain.

Your spoke shae needs a good sharpening. The tool you are working with is very dull. You may want to consider an angle grinder and 60 or 80 grit sanding discs. That is a lot of work with a spokeshave under the best of circumstances. 😊

I have a small question, why are you not collecting the water from the roof of the barn? A) It will help you not the destroy ground around the roof and B) You can have a water reserve. Maybe you have it already done (I am still 5months behind :D ), but you could really store a lot of water for anything you want... from water for plants to water for washing dishes or with filter even for drinking... Your house your rules, I am just curious :)))

Hi, looking great. Did you see my comment last week to keep the dogs, cats and kids well away from the river. Moulinroche posted that their poor dog drowned in the river by them. So sad and we do not want any repeats of that.
