Nova solo annihilating the dig sounds A) very doable and B) rather fun to watch
Hopefully the Mercenary-Cooldown-Trick works for Nova in this mod.
Then the novaless time can be reduced to only the time to gather the resources.

Grant seems to have forgotten his refineries can now convert minerals to bonus gas... also automated refinery seems like the only choice that works. The mengsk cc already does 2... what does it do 4 at once now?
The CC only does 1 at a time, it just has the extended queue on it. The CC reactor ain't bad, it's not just workers you create but it also applies to the troopers, which do benefit from numbers, granted trooper usage here kinda varies compared to normal coop mengsk
mengsk cc has a queue thats 8 units long, not two units at once
When you have bunker drops past 500 mandate, you have a really good infinite loop of resources.
In this it is sitll one at a time
I got the CC reactor and in the last mission I decided to roleplay the soviets... 5 CC's in the back and over 3k dead people later I conquered Char in the name of Mengsk

Hey Grant, the upgrade you picked last video gives refineries an toggelable autocast ability that converts minerals to gas. The mid doesn't make it super clear, but if you want to benefit from that, you need to turn it on separately for every gysir
The Xanthos using the Goliath voice lines seems appropriate given it took so long to go up a ramp.
Grant the Protoss missions are all different and I bet you will love them! So please yes do the Protoss missions.
With the vespene efficiency research you can also "buy" vespene for minerals at any refinery at 10 minerals for 3 gas. With the high level bunkers you can get infinite money if you're patient enough
Zeratul missions are played with Mengsk faction in this mod.

Can we get a Wings of Mengsk style HoS campaign aswell? I really love the idea of royal guards and I think it would transpire very well to other races like Zerg.
That would be a Dehaka faction with the primals leveling up, right?
We did get Stetmann's HOTS not too long ago as a series.

At least a couple of Blackhammers is the obvious choice for The Dig, even though you've already used them on this mission. Otherwise, it could maybe be interesting to try and use Nightmares (wraiths) to snipe the attacks on approach, I'd imagine they would be pretty good at that
I might be confusing with some other campaign but couldn't you turn minerals into gas at the refinery?
I love this mod, it reminds me a little bit of c&c with the experence system. I wish there would be more mods with diffrent commanders, such as dehaka. And of course thank u Grant for this video :)
There is a Tychus mod too, based on nightmare. Also a Stukov hots is still work in progress
There are couple of mods that port co-op comanders into campains. There are finished mods for Zeratul, Stetman, Tychus and Mengsk, and few others in viaried state of progress.

@@ismael9914 iirc grant did play one or more mods that had planets with increased difficulty the longer you push them back
@@ismael9914 Nightmare mod does increase the difficulty of every planet if not completed, but Mengsk is just that powerful, he doesn't care

This mod reminds me of the good old days of RTS like Red Alert 2 YR, no need to think about balance, OP units are perfectly fun to play with xD
This mod went from ww1 trooper wave tactics to god damn battletech mechs wiping out entire enemy formations while the basic trooper either just watch or repair those goliaths.
Nova covert ops for the dig? All shadows with Nova leading them
I see Grant is going to go with the 'just kill all the tal'darim' alternative objective every mission going forward
This is probably my favorite episode in recent memory. Never seen someone take on the zerg in that mission!

In the dig, you machinery won't work, but a single Ghost in the right place will, so as horner says: Go Nova
I agree with the comment about how you should look at the big blue button on your refineries, but command centre reactor is the only way to go for the protoss upgrade.
I mean, I can kind of get double recruitment for the enlistment center, if you were going to go mass trooper.
But automated gas means you'll have more troopers freed up anyways.

As incredible and fun the Xanthos is, it may be better to save it for now due to how powerful it is. I'd love to see the other compositions explored more before our time with the mod is done.
Nova with emperors shadow sound spectacular to watch
I am on team autogas, if just for taking gasses without CCs nearby. I also feel like a few emperors shadows, even if they are coop units, could really shine on the dig, those emp stuns ort to really help!

Almost out of money? Between the Bunker drops and the Refinery conversion, I thought that wasn't possible in this mod?
Considering they didn't get a showcase this time, I'd like to see the Dominion Marauder get some spotlight next time.
Blackhammer Overwatch with its range fire rate, and most importantly, splash is what really saved you.
Just love it when you take a base while the enemy still has a functional one in the same area and you try to wipe each other out, like college dorm mates that really, _really,_ don't like each other.
Hey, Grant, glad that now everything is behind you and you are feeling better than ever, at least it seems like that when you are making those videos. With respect to the composition I have two suggestions:
1) Try to solo the mission with Nova, my problem with this one is that you have a lot of downtime to acquire Nova, but I think the idea is interesting enough to pursue.
2) Try using the Special Ops coupled with relatively small Elite infantry force.
Hope those suggestions are good enough. Thank you for making such a great content and continuing to be a pillar of this community!
Dig feels like it deserves the classics, so marine, medic, siege tank.
Would love to see an all-cloaked comp tackle the dig. Wraiths, Ghosts, and Nova giving the Taldarim the ol' Vorazun treatment should be entertaining. Make it the actual Smash and Grab mission!
Since you recently got them, I would love to see mass emperor's shadow + maybe nova, you just need to spam infinite mini-nukes and counter everything else with nova!

The thing I hate the most about this version of the protoss is that the darkarchons actually use their mind control abilities. And they focus units that are higher rank. The only way I can prevent that is to farm my units to max rank, cuz then they become heroic and immune.
For that mattee, infestors also use neural parasite. But at least that one is temporary
I'd LOVE to see full mech for the Dig. You're getting the tank so it seems only fair-hit them with the biggest explosions, and hyper units. The only thing is, I think it is best to leave the Blackhammer out since it got to shine here, and would clash with the siege tank. Other than that, I look forward to seeing what happens!
As for the inevitable "hero" unit that will probably accompany this, anything but Nova-I think she's best saved for an elite, bio-based army that cleanly snipes and targets down enemies, rather than a moshball of a mech army that slams head-first into the foe.
In honor of the "tons of invisible ghosts block all the ramps" trick, and since we have yet to see them, how about a few Emperor's Shadows on The Dig? Maybe take the opportunity to go full bio before we lose the ability altogether.

10:44 You can turn your excess minerals in to gas. At the refinery just right click the mineral icon on the command card to autocast.
I would love to see the taldarim get bulldozed by Shock Division/Sky Fury. Would also love to see the Death Fleet meet the Xanthos' Death Ray

i vote for the protoss missions because the finale is my favourite level in the mod

i think clearing out the protoss bases on the dig with air only, or the archangle would be hilairous
Considering how the stars of the show have been our mech units and calldowns like the odin or xanthos, bio hasn't really had a chance to shine, would love to see the aegis guard, prometheus companys and sons of korhal do some work, maybe even some emperors shadow.
For Mengsk, the best is the double SCV production as you can train 2 conscripts at a time compared to automated gas. But for fun's sake, get the auto refinery instead @Grant
Damn, that Xanthos really is a proper super unit! Not a lot of those (that the player gets to use anyway) in Starcraft. Reminds me of the super units in Rise of Legends, just a fuck ton of investment for something that can solo entire missions without breaking a sweat (though for the actually hard missions/skirmishes, getting to a place where you are comfortable making one pretty much means you already won the macro game, similar to how this mission played out, the Thors basically won already by holding the line, the Xanthos was just the stylish nail in the coffin).
You know what'd be amazing? If on All In, instead of the Xel'naga Artifact, you are powering up the Psi Destroyer.
Nova, Fenrir(nukes) - Bromethius(to tank) - Vikings (for air/collosus). Between the 4 refineries and the toggleable mineral-to-gas ability, I think its doable, especially with the siege tank or two provided and the drill to help in case of any emergencies
So the Colonist Questline gets you the Balius, the Rebellion Questline gets you the Odin, the Covert Questline gets you Nova(?), and the Secret Mission gets you the Xanthos.
I'll be honest, I kind of want to see all of them together on All In.
The problem is the cooldown between summons which is something like 10 mins.
I tried to to the same on All In but the most I could get was 2 despite having tons of spare resources banked.
tbf they're kind of cheating, the mapmaker has mentioned they're basically available for pure fun factor, but they're not meant to be balanced in the slightest.
Hey Grant, Remember that now you have infinite resources! Your Gas refineries have an option to turn minerals to Gas, you need to activate it though. You can refund weapons/bunkers from topbar for infinite minerals.
For the Dig I'd like to see some bio (if you somehow can get a use of Sons of Korhal bonus points). I just can't get them to work on this mod compared to mech.
Also Protoss missions are changed so do them after the Dig.
Finally Grant stops putting off a mission you're generally supposed to do almost immediately, or outright immediately, after Zero Hour. And Grant is doing it with the Xanthos and Blackhammers.
The Xanthos having Goliath voice lines is perfect for it trying to get up a ramp.

I love how he's doing mission 4 in episode 12, 15 missions into the campain :) . Few other campains gives you su much freedom of choice :D
We haven't seen the Emperor's Shadows in action yet, so we should see what you can get done with those on The Dig. I don't imagine you can block off the ramps forever with them, but you can certainly try
I think your composition for The Dig should be Odin + Xanthos + Gantrithor (which is *clearly* part of the campaign). All super units, all the time, aiming for a full map clear. Maybe even *only* super units, if you can do it.
The Zerg top-bar might've helped the defending protoss here a little, if you sent it close enough to the Zerg. Not against THAT many mutas though, that's crazy stuff.
I wanna see you use mostly Nova Covert Ops units for The Dig, including using Nova as your hero.
If we had the dropship I would say to go for the protoss with all siege tanks. At least in Co-op the dropship can pick up tanks and they can fire at air while moving. Maybe there will be a chance for that later. In lieu of that, maybe it is time for some mass tact nukes with ghosts. The back are would be a good place to amass ghost academies. Might have to have a few vikings to defend the air attacks though.
Saving Smash and Grab for last was just as hilarious as I thought.
This mod is such a good time. Enjoying watching it and playing it.
I want to see you using the Imperial Shadows or whatever the ghost unit is called, give them a try. And if you can get Nova to lead them, even better.
I would love to see the emperor's shadows teach the dig protoss who're the best space wizards (with weapon's of mass destruction).
Normally, when you unlock a Boss character in a video game, particularly a Final Boss, you get a nerfed version that would've been surpassed by the hero characters halfway through the game. I'm very happy that the Xanthos is everything it was in N:CO and more.
Speaking of Nova, she might be able to solo everyone and I'm excited to see her try, maybe with some of those Shadows to back her up.

This is so far the most fun mod I have seen on this channel.
I sort of want to watch a mission where you curb stomp the enemy by just sending the Balius and Xanthos with some support. Throw fairness away, just annihilation. The dig seems like a pretty good place to get XP.
I would love to see some classic Terran army, marine, marauder, Siege tank push. Seems really cool to me.

You gotta pronouce Tal'darim with the most southern twang you can muster in next mission just to spite the other guy down there.
For the Dig, go for goliaths with siege tanks for long range anti air and anti ground punching power.
I don't know if Grant will see this before he finishes the Protoss missions, but he should be warned that the final Protoss mission uses some copyrighted music, so he'll need to make sure he disables music during that mission.
I did that mission not too long ago with Wings of Mengsk. Let me tell you, with Earthsplitters, Shock Division, and Blackhammers, it is an insane holdout against a ridiculous amount of hybrid, including a bunch of new Hybrid that I'm not sure if they're a product of Nightmare of something new from the mod creator.
Leave Shock Divisions for Mobius Factor, that way we can Tankivac to victory. For The Dig, go for exterminatus: Fenrir, Bulwark and Odin.
The Protoss missions are changed so yes definitely do them!
Also i vote for using Nova to clear the map on The Dig (maybe with the royal specialist support as well)
Stright up just Fenrir no anti air, in my eyes is the funniest way to do that mission
For composition, I think Blackhammer/Wraith would be cool to watch. Blackhammers are nice because you can pretty much set them up and go afk for them, then wraiths to go after wrathwalkers and possibly destroy the bases. Also Xanthos against the protoss bases would be super cool.
Day like 12 of promising I'm not going to stay up to watch these at 3am my time. I have failed again.
Looking at the other comments I think Cova Novert Ops might have to be included in the army, as for what units to go with her what's something we normally don't get to see on The Dig, the big siege tank mission... Hellbats?

For an idea on how to wipe out the tal'darim, Heroes of the Mengsk:
Defend until they've all come off cool down, then call in All the unique super units to destroy the tal'darim bases in one go

My favorite comp in the Dig was going mass Spectres because of their permastun aoe. EMPeror’s Shadows have a Stun EMP that also does huge shield damage + Feedback.
I don't remember if it was this mod, but didn't an upgrade allow you to turn minerals to gas over time or something? That'd help on missions like this one that don't have a lot!
