No doubt cleaners are the backbone of the business. I give my cleaners a yearly Christmas gift and bonus. I like the idea of offering the home as a get away for them and family.

Great information. I'm currently cleaning my one STR myself, but one question: How did you handle the guest who sent you photos of crumbs requesting a discount? I've not had this situation yet, but I'm sure it could come up. Thanks!

We told them thank you for letting us know, and that we would share the feedback with our cleaning team because we knew how petty it was. If it was a legitimate issue, we've offered to have the cleaners return to the house in the past.

I understand your response but I do want to say that crumbs is not a petty complaint. It’s legitimate as things don’t feel sanitary when you see remnants from previous guests. I also feel that cleaners are human and I am very understanding if it happens although I would speak to them about it and work hard on preventing it from happening again. You won’t get a 5 star rating on cleanliness with crumbs left behind!

@@ventureswitham definitely. But in this situation the guest pulled an appliance (large microwave) away from the wall and the crumbs had been underneath it. That’s not typically something that our cleaners are moving every time during a standard turnover.

@@kyleeandsteven ahh I see. Yep that definitely does not warrant a discount!
