Good call making a note of the lights on the dash, I hate it when people want to supply there own parts, I just ask if they take their own ingredients to a restaurant. I get that is from another garage so a bit different. Keep them coming Leon, great content. I think I have a 1.9 on my channel which is similar.
My stance is the same. If I supply the parts I can warranty them. If the customer insists on their own parts being used I will not Warranty it. If the parts are defective then he customer pays again for the labour. So to save a load of aggravation my policy is not to fit parts supplied by customers. there are exceptions of course, had a customer recently with a split ac pipe, uk reg car and I could not source the part in Spain, he brought the part over from the UK, he is a long standing customer. My opinion is the same would you take your own ingredients to a restaurant and ask them to cook them?
Thanks a lot mate I've been there so many times you change your bulb on someone's car they come back and say the brakes are making a noise it wasn't like that until you change the bulb 2 years ago😂😂
at least you are in the dry instead of being out side and in Ireland you can get all four seasons in a day ,great work on the engine ,thanks for the video
As you can see I've proven you do not have to do that like I explained in the video if you do you can cause a lot of issues if you do not have the proper tools to get it back an exactly the same position it is completely durable as I have proven
@bodgitandleggitgarage the later TDI 13 onwards is even easier don't even need to turn the cam or crank sprokets to slip the belt on leave the same idler off and slip it over the water pump stick idler back on a jobs a goodun!
Leon, the position of the fuel pump is to do with the pressure build up state relative to the position of the engine and injector opening , it does matter technically where the pump position is , hope this helps cheers
it is not recommended to run the engine with a DRY water pump, if you do not ´´prime´´ the water pump before installation, you can damage the water pump.
No it won’t need a new timing kit , just make sure the belt goes on the same direction before it’s removed ( mark with an arrow with tipex or similar too the front ) if you are doing the work yourself .
wen did vw start making showers
🤣🤣🤣🤣
Thank you buddy, for helping keep these magnificent vehicles alive! ☺️
You've saved more than your fair share yourself.
I love the 2.5tdi's that you do.
@TheOriginalDaveJ
Thank you for watching!
You need to make more videos do as you are told Thomas😂😂😂😘

So what is your position when a customer brings all the correct OEM parts ?

Lol very true thanks mate
Your supposed to slacken off the 3 bolts on the cam sprocket to aid belt alignment and tensioning, thats what they are for.
As you can see I've proven you do not have to do that like I explained in the video if you do you can cause a lot of issues if you do not have the proper tools to get it back an exactly the same position it is completely durable as I have proven
Worked at a dealer doing them all the time older ones and newer ones and I never loosened those cam sprockets and never had a problem either!
About time someone speaking sense😂😂😂😂 like I said in the video I knew I would get people telling me you have to by law slacking them bolts off😂😂😂

Is that your own shed you're working in Leon ?
' cos it could do with a few nails in it mate !
😂😂😂😂
I bought a 1.9 tdi with new belt and water pump fitted last year but it has a crankshaft seal leaking now so that will be a new belt kit too. 🤦♂️

Hi mate make sure the belt is not covered in oil if it is you will need a new belt unfortunately
Who the frig sends their car to be repaired with no fuel in it 😂
A large amount of them I’m afraid
Tramps
The type of person that can’t even buy the correct cam belt kit and drives around with every fault light on the dash 👍
According to my mechanic... me !
Ask any garage / Mot station some cars are like fuel roulette 😂😂
Most are expensive vehicles as well 😂😂
Car doesn’t start after timing job. That’s cus the customer delivered it with no fuel🤪😩🤬
