- PART ONE OF TWO, a complete class from Kate McKinnon on one of the simplest Kaleidocycle joins, the Flower Face Assembly.
In Part One, we bring you from a little pile of 18 Flat Peyote Triangles to a joined Flexagon or Kaleidocycle that can have a fourth face added or be finished with one open face.
Part Two of this class will show exactly how to add in the fourth face (or create one in place) along with ideas for using the open space, should you choose to leave your Cycle with only three flat faces.
This is a really cool video and I like the way you talk. You sound very interested and passionate, and it's lovely to listen to you.
Thank you for doing all the hard work in figuring out the details - these machines are a significant addition to the bead weaving world.
I just LOVE this Flower Face join, and I think it will be the one that everyone can do. I'll enjoy hearing what you think when you try it.
It took me two days, but I finally finished my first kaleidocycle! Its miniature so I kept it simple with solid colors (Apple Green, Black, Orange, and Royal Blue). The triangle are seven rows of 11/0 Delicas so it's pretty small. I used the jelly fish join, I'm going to try the flower join in the future. Woo!
Mind.Blown. I saw these machines about a year ago and was so intrigued, but they seemed completely out of my reach. This video places them within my reach and I cannot thank you enough. Let's get those beads out!
Wow! I’ve got your book for a month from my local library. Mind BLOWN
I can tell you are a really intelligent woman! Such a distinguished way of talking.
These are so neat and pretty. ❤❤❤
This is so incredible and I can't wait to get my new glasses so I can follow along and try to make one of these. Brilliant Beautiful work!

hi Kate, just wondering your preferred thread to use in working pieces? thank you so much for your channel
What's the function or application of one of these? I could definitely imagine my friend enjoying fidgeting with these for entertainment but I can't imagine any other use lol
vraiment magnifique!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Sorry the audio is a little low! We will be shooting professional video for all techniques to accompany the book release this summer, so please view these videos as works in process.
I have made the CGB machine assembly so what do I do now to make a Kaleidocycle?
I did this with paper years ago. I'm excited to learn more from you.
I'm starting to understand but dont know all the places I need to put hinges, is it on every triangle that connects?
dear Kate, are these designs in your books? What title should I buy? I particularly like the one you show at 6.00 min
You could put a couple of jingle bells inside :) Kate, where do you get your Delicas from?
Love the techicity of it! Where can I buy your book(s) ...
Hi Kate, Thank you so much for your inspiration....are you using a round bead for your join beads (red ones)? If so what size? Your video is wonderful. Thanks again.
Hi, Tamara! I am using a size 15 round red bead. Any beads that fit into the spaces work, as long as they don't get in the way of the joins or hinges. Many of our team like size 11 rounds, some like matching Delica 11s. I like the way round beads move. I look forward to seeing what you choose!
Are both red n blue beads seed beads or delicas and are they both size 15/0? Thank you
Red round beads are size 15, blue cylinder beads are size 11 Delicas. But don't feel tied by my bead choices. Any join and hinge beads that fit the spaces work!
Thank you looking forward for new things
Amazing ! Love ❤️ your work !
Could you tell me what king of Tread you use and what kind of Needle ? Size brands please source?
so I see all your triangles are 8 bead rows, mine are 9, so should I use 6 bead joins?
It's completely your choice.
What size beads do you use for the hinge?....15 or 11 delica? I love this entire concept and am making my first. Like others, I am late in joining the joy. Thank you so much for these videos.
Great design on your work.Love to learn how to do it.And What exactly the Beads used
Size 11 Delica beads and size 15 round seed beads.
Oh so that's how it works, no wonder mine looks strange .
Genius
wow
Wow- amazing, but you need to make your volume louder :(
Don't miss PART TWO of this video for some fairly shocking new discoveries!
