Gosh, the Philippines is definitely our long-lost brother. Although we don't understand each other (even both Tagalog and Bahasa Indonesia is very similar), i can simply pronounce every words in Tagalog without effort, vice versa. Mabuhay Pilipinas! Greetings from Jakarta.

Actually our second language that we use here in Philippines is Visayan which is very similar accent to Bahasa when we spoke English words

It's because Indonesians are one of our ancestors who went in the Ph on their balangays. Early Filipinos that from indo race speak bahasa. Later on the language evolved but most retained it's root word and it's meaning like the bahasa word buka = open is also buka = open in tagalog but actually evolved to bukas = open. Bahasa word makan = food is also makan = food buts evolved to makain. Fun fact: our indo ancestors settled in central Luzon. On the present The Cordilleran region and Ifugaos are their descendants

    Laskar Pelangi Lyrics
    mimpi adalah kunci
    untuk kita menaklukkan dunia
    berlarilah tanpa lelah
    sampai engkau meraihnya
    laskar pelangi

    cinta kita di dunia...
    selamanya
    cinta kepada hidup
    memberikan senyuman abadi
    walau hidup kadang tak adil
    tapi cinta lengkapi kita...
    laskar pelangi
    takkan terikat waktu
    jangan berhenti mewarnai
    jutaan mimpi di bumi...

I've always been a fan of the Philippine Madrigal Singers. The song was covered beautifully. I could feel all the emotions of hope and optimism in the song even without looking at the English subtitles. What even made the song more beautiful and meaningful for me was when I was finally able to watch the movie Laskar Pelangi on Netflix. What a beautiful movie.
Terima Kasih Banyak Indonesia for such a beautiful song and movie and Maraming Salamat Philippine Madrigal Singers.

Laskar Pelangi also inspired me to have my dreams and fight to achieve it. It also saved my life, because I don't know what my future will be if I have no dream

Great to see this clip and hear your voices again (hope after the pandemic, Live na). Our Indonesian brothers and sisters are very supportive to us Filipinos and I felt that when I stayed in Semarang, Jawa Tengah with my new found Indonesian families. God bless MADZ, especially to their very supportive and loving Choir Master Sir Mark Carpio.

Music can unite people, create an understanding, and transmit feelings far better than any language. Amazing performance that touches our hearts even if I dont understand the language it makes me cry and feel happy. Hello Indonesia from Philippines. This now one of my fav songs.

What sets Filipino performers apart is their ability to engage and unite with their audience. This affinity stems from the broader Asian ethos of harmony. When entertaining, the aim is to create a collective euphoria; the joy is shared, not solitary. Unlike typical performances where a clear demarcation exists between the performer and the observer, in Filipino culture, it is viewed as a collaborative venture. This communal spirit is vividly showcased at concerts where it's commonplace for Filipino audiences to sing along with artists, fostering a lively shared experience. Although, we also understand contextual propriety, like in more formal settings like operas or choir performances, where such interactions are not appropriate.
