  • If you have a Seeburg Jukebox that will not eject / reject the record then you need to watch my video.
I bought a 1972 Seeburg USC2 Firestar that had many issues. One issue is that the "Mech" would not reject the record which is common with Seeburg Jukeboxes. This jukebox has a "160 select-o-matic mechanism" which Seeburg used in many different years and models of Jukeboxes.
So I researched and found a website created by a Seeburg Jukebox Guru named Tony Miller who has passed away but he left a legacy of Seeburg knowledge on his website. He explains 4 common jukebox symptoms and fixes. Won't Reject a Record is found there! And there I found my answer! Thank you Mr. Miller!
A little magnet had come unglued and fallen off. Since my USC2 Firestar is 40 years old it makes sense that this glue has worn out.
The ONE thing this video doesn't show is that I removed the metal part to glue the magnet back on to it. The Metal is non magnetic so you need to take it off, clean it with isopropyl alcohol then glue the magnet exactly in the same place that it was originally.
I used super glue. I think Tony Miller suggested Epoxy glue. I used what I had on hand. If the magnet falls off in the coming years, I will use epoxy.
Important TIP: I took close up digital pics so I could put the part back in the exact same place (same adjustment) where it came from. I take many close up pics before I take anything off of a Jukebox so later I know how to put it back together.
It is also handy to have the right sized nut driver - not a screwdriver. Also use a Manual nutdriver not a battery powered one so you can feel how tight to make it.
If you look and the magnet on your selectomatic 160 mech is still there, then read Mr. Millers other fixes.
So I made this video to show the problem and the fix. Pay it forward. If this was helpful to you, feel free to rate it so that it is easier for others to find this video.

Awesome! My dad's 1958 Seeburg is doing the same. I'm going to see if it's the same issue. Thanks for posting.

I just bought the exact same jukebox yesterday and it has this exact problem. Hopefully the magnet is still somewhere inside. Thanks so much!

My B started doing this and since I was so busy at the time i just let it go and manually rejected the records. When that got to be too much trouble I just quit playing it. Not being played, other problems started and I got discouraged and almost decided to sell it. I hope this is the problem with mine. It will be just the kick I need to do my routine repairs and get her back where she should be. (Somehow my manual for it got separated in my last move.) Thanks for posting!

The magnet is small so feel around under that part of the mech and use a flashlight. remove the part you are glueing the magnet back on to so it is horizontal so you can position / glue the magnet back exactly where it was. You can always order this part from the usual jukebox parts guys.

I have a Seeburg SL100 Carnival I am working trying to restore as much as I can. It lost it's magnet and I had to order one in bulk of 20 on ebay. I got videos of my prograss so far and I will soon finish it up with the restore. The Jukebox came from South America and it was in junk shape. Check it sometime.

this is a very common problem on the seeburgs, i,ve had 4 of them so far, also if it still won,t eject check the magnetic switch that it is suppossed to operate, the small glass cylander beside it, [i usually stick my big magnet near it fist, you should hear it click, see it move]

Hello Karen. Seeburgs operate differently than all others including Rockola. To get help go to a site called phonolandcom and then jukeboxes forum. Join and ask your questions there.

my sunstar jukebox ,,starts to play the record for a second and rejects it and puts it bk and goes on to the next record and does the samething,,,can you help??

Rock-ola's don't use magnets. It uses a screw and a copper shim like relay to kick the record off. I would that that out and see if that works.

Sorry no I cannot as I don't own one. You can always ask the experts on the Yahoo Seeburg Forum.
