We tried a walking tour of the streets in Leon, Nicaragua and this happened! | City of Ruben Dario

After doing our groceries in La Union, we went back to Las Penitas and enjoyed the beach. As there were no further availabilities at Barca de Oro, the following day we checked into a hotel within the urban area of the City of Leon. The main attraction in this bustling city of youth is the Cathedral; the Spaniards actually intended to build it in Lima, Peru and it ended up in Leon, Nicaragua by mistake. Right behind the Cathedral, you will find the municipal market of Leon where you can buy pretty much anything. Leon is known as the city of churches: every barrio derives its name after the church of the area.
At dusk there was an event about to take place at the main square right in front of the Cathedral: it was linked to the celebration of 150 years since the birth of Nicaragua's national poet, Ruben Dario. There is also an alley with famous figures from Latin American history. Cacique Adiact, Cacique Nicarao, Jose Santos Lopez, Emiliano Zapata, Che Guevarra, Simon Bolivar and Salvador Allende are only some of the historical figures that you will find in this alley. You can also find a similar alley with female historical figures on another street.
