    Zendaya had me at Season 2 of Eurphoria episode 4. She deserved that Emmy.

      In that episode she just doesn’t carve deep enough for me. I also HATE that they only tried shooting it for one day

    I like the ambiguity of this film and I like when a movie with little to no plot still finds a way to keep me engaged

    13:05 I think, and stay with me here, Zendaya is Chloe Sevigny of the 2010s. Essentially she is an “It” girl. Her equivalent in the ‘90s would have been a society girl who married well like Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy but thankfully those days are mostly over.
    She is someone who draws your eye when she enters a room, is a muse to fashion houses but she is not someone who has what we mortals would consider a “career”. I think it’s okay to admit that she does not have range as an actress and that I don’t expect her to be a prolific actress going forward. In Dune as the centre of prophetic dreams she was mesmerising but in Dune Part 2 as the real woman that Paul is in love with she fell flat. The change to her character was important for the plot but it exposed Zendaya’s flaws as an actress even more because she had to walk that tightrope of being devoted but judgemental and just came across as a nag. I can see what she was going for but she didn’t achieve it.
    I think she will have to be very selective of her projects but I still want her around to be my fashion muse. If her being in a meh film every so often then so be it.

    A Cobra! Let’s gooo with the accuracy.
    A critic I follow on Letterbox’d (🙄) said she’s in the same vein, talent wise, as Will Smith 🤯

    • @DSQueenie

      I think that’s a slight against Smith tbh.

    I agree that I'd like to see more range, but I view her in a similar vein of Jessie Eisenberg, Matthew Mcconaughey (before the career renaissance), Woody Harrelson a lot of time, Reese Witherspoon, etc where there's a consistency or 'vibe' to they bring to the roles. Basically you're into it or you're not. There's room for growth for sure, but I really love seeing her. Zendaya, Florence Pugh, and maybe Jodie Comer are the only 'new' actors who I will go out of my to see their projects. The only thing I haven't seen is Dune which is more related to franchise fatigue then anything. When I heard they spidermanned Z's role on the first one I passed but I'll probably get around to it eventually cause it's her and Miss Flo.

    In season 2 in Euphoria she was good but she was not so good in Season 1. Especially when she did monologues. She's very hit and miss but shes a star so has charisma. Doesnt need much talent.

    I’ve never watched anything with Zendaya in it and not physically cringed at her acting. On the red carpet, however, she is mesmerizing… I think her true calling was to be a model.

    I disagree with all the takes except for Zendaya not having much range “One note but amazing,” (I do not think she was good in Dune 2 though) but y’all are hilarious

    I haven't seen this movie yet, but I've been watching Zendaya for a long time. Calling her a bad actress is objectively ignorant, if you've seen most of her work. C'mon now.

    • @TamESQ
      @TamESQ Месяц назад +4

      Sorry, but the ignorant one is your comment…. Just because YOU think she’s a great actress doesn’t mean everyone else must share your opinion. And sorry, but if you’re assuming because she has an extensive resume that means she’s a good actress, you’re funny.
      Some actors are overhyped and get a lot of movie roles not because they’re necessarily talented, but because they simply have that “star” quality.
      Same thing with musicians. Taylor Swift, in my opinion, can’t sing worth a damn… but she makes up for it by her songwriting, stage presence and ability to put on a good show.

    • @AGEE_95
      @AGEE_95 Месяц назад +1

      @@TamESQ this is also an ignorant statement because I never said anyone else has to share my opinion. I just said it’s ignorant to call her a bad actress, and based that not on assumptions about her resume, but on having SEEN the work she has done. Simple as that. Just cause you’re mad that I think it’s ignorant to say she can’t act, doesn’t at all correlate to making assumptions or whatever argument you just failed to make. But I’m not gonna argue with you. I said what I said. Have a nice day.

    • @TamESQ
      @TamESQ Месяц назад +1

      @@AGEE_95 Oh, you think this is an argument? How cute.
      You didn’t have to say it… the connotation was clear. You say it’s ignorant for them to call her a bad actress because of all the work she’s done…. Hence, that’s a clear implication that you believe she can’t possibly be a bad actress because of “all her work.” In other words, you feel due to her work… it’s “ignorant” to view her as a bad actor. I don’t think you know the difference between “objective” and “subjective.”
      Mad? Lol, darling.. don’t flatter yourself. This little conversation isn’t enough to make me mad.
      Have a better day.

    • @AGEE_95
      @AGEE_95 Месяц назад

      @@TamESQ Clearly you are mad, or you wouldn't have cared enough to comment, because it triggered you, by using the word "ignorant". News flash: opinions can be described as ignorant, when they aren't based in any real evidence to back them up. It's not just about how you feel. Her actual skill as an actress is to be taken into account, when judging her acting, and that requires some objectivity.
      Also, clearly you lack reading comprehension, because talking about the "work she has done" is referring to the content of her work, not the amount of it. Like...how is that hard to understand, my friend? Based on her actual performances, yes to say she can't act is ignorant. Period. You think she can't act. I say that's ignorant. It upset you enough to reply. But, that's your problem and projecting that onto me won't help. Figure that out on your own, friend. Good luck.

    I was abit embarrassed by her bad performance in dune 2. I have no desire to see Challenger. She is just an it girl that people wont remember in 10 years. But i am a pretty harsh acting critic so i could be wrong. I think a good five years of a profesional acting coach would help her somewhat.
