If you don't roll them are they technically still meat "balls"
Mama Mia! That's a Speedy Meetz-a-Ball! (Italian hand waving gestures)
those were super fast. and really good!
I almost read aliexpress :D :D
Made this today with beef + pork instead of veal (can't find it where I live) and I got to say it was amazing. I've tried couple other recipes before and while they were more complicated, the end result wasn't as good as this. Hats off to you Chef John. This is the one recipe I know I'm going to repeat several more times for the years to come.
+Biggolf BG ,yeah veal is hard to find, plus the price is very high.a friend used ground turkey, she took some thigh meat and put it thru the food processor.
s thompson Yeah, I imagine that should work fine as long as the meat mixture have enough fat in it. Turkey is very lean by itself. Probably too lean for this kind of meatballs. Did your friend mix the turkey with other kinds of meat at all?
I was looking to do this since I prefer not to eat veal, Thanks !
I would never eat veal. Those poor baby cows or "calves"
I feel like they should at least get a chance to hang out with other cows in the feed lot cage before slaughter
Chef John has no peer when it comes to the broiled meat sphere.
800lb Gorilla And if we to his tips adhere,
and imitate them loud and clear,
we'll have our tables choking with them relatives near and dear
demanding more meatballs, you meatloaf, put 'em right here, there and one knows not where...
He truly has no equall, when it comes to the quick meatball..
I still have no idea what "broiled" means after watching hundreds of american cookery videos.
I went to Nepal to find a yeti
I feared my love back home might forget me
My worries felt small
After a meatball
Was nicely placed on top of spaghetti
@@jonjohnson2844 A broiler is a separate part of the oven that has an exposed flame. It’s like cooking food on a grill, but upside down and inside the house. It browns food more quickly than baking.
Made these meatballs twice now and they're great. Thank you chef, you are a great teacher!
A cooking video with a DMX reference is the best cooking video.
What?
***** ruff! ruff! rrrrrr.....
DMX reference: 2:20
GUTS Isn't that a mountain bike?
Seattwa that's a BMX lol 😁 x
Normal meatballs have minced and sauteed onion and garlic, as well as fresh chopped herbs, so this step is also much faster. Come on.
youtube "experts" on everything are always going to hate! Just ignore them! These are quick and DELICIOUS!!!
So, I want to thank you, Chef John. These are the best meatballs I’ve ever attempted. I’m not good in the kitchen. But these meatballs are going to make me look like an expert tonight. I can’t wait for my family to try them. I took a preview-bite of one and they are exactly as described. Thank you! I could break out into an Italian operetta I’m so happy.
That's a brilliant point.
I just made your "no chop" meatballs, it came out really good. I love all your recipes, when I need a recipe for any dish I always check your channel first. Thank you!
I made those meatballs with tomato sauce. My friend said compliments to chef John. I am amased at how much nicer they are grilled. Thank you so very much we both loved them. So easy!
The fact that Chef John referenced DMX makes him even cooler
trechan yes indeed hahaha
His hip hop pedigree seems pretty well established since I've probably heard at least 4 or 5 other references like this in other videos of his.
Indeed DMX is now even cooler after Chef John mentioned him.
BTW a small sorbet scoop is also a great shortcut for biscuit dough, rather than rolling it, cutting it, and re-rolling the excess. Nothing goes to waste. This is especially good for making cheddar biscuits, Red Lobster style.
Also good when making pizzelle.
Just did this last night!! Since the red lobster biscuits said it should be 1/4 cup each. They came out perfect
I love the way he talk just as much I love the way he cook.. ♡
Holy hell!!!!. Thanks to you chef john i can now make and cook a world class meatball. The whole slurry method and sorbet scoop is a life changing thing ...thank you!!!!
I have not been this excited about a chef since Alton Brown, you are the man!
The Bob Ross of cooking or what? I don't want to cook I just want to watch this guy!
He taught me to cook. But you're right. I don't want to cook tonight, I'm just drinking a beer and binging on old Food Wishes vids. Because I adore Chef John.
I MISS Bob Ross. RIP Bob Ross.
You would starve tho LOL
Wow. his "En-joy" at the end was so different back then ... guess he hadn't "perfected" it as yet.
That's just what happens when you use red pepper flakes instead of cayenne: your "en-joy" doesn't turn out quite right. Rookie mistake.
stripedhyenuh haha!
This chef is the most reliable chef ever! Everything I make from his channel turns out A-friggin-MAZING! A big BRAVO from France :-)
Me and my daughter follow your recipe and our meatball turn out so perfect . It’s easy , quick and good taste , thank you so much !
Best Chef in the World! The one that has the heart of a teacher!
Meatball's gon' make me lose my mind
Up in here, up in here
Meatball's gon' make me go all out
Up in here, up in here...
Just made these tonight and OMG these are the best I have ever made!! This will be tops in my recipe book for sure! Thanks, John, once again!
made these today, what a great way to make meatballs!! and he's right, even though you work the slurry in really well, the meatballs are VERY tender. I will neve make them any other way! (love the easy cleanup for the meatballs too)
I made this for my friends last night for dinner, but added a couple of other things in the meatballs. Needless to say, it was a huge success! Lots of love!
food and magic.... AMAZING!
You're always so happy in your videos. It just rubs off on me and I am now in a chipper mood! So thank you!
First meatballs I ever attempted - got rave reviews from some Italian friends. Once again Chef John, you've made me look far better than I am.
Still THE meatball recipe I use to this day and everyone loves it! I love freezing them too. It's so easy
Thanks! That's the whole idea. It's basically mass hypnosis. It's going to come in very handy.
Just made these, with some alterations to the slurry. Instead of bread crumbs I added matzo meal, added fresh herbs instead of dry and added no milk... still came out awesome. The scooping kept things neat and clean, loved that^^ Thanks!
#DMX reference was #classic!
chuckled because I didn't expect a DMX reference from this guy lol hopefully
i got to admit that I watch your videos for 1: your cooking 2: your comments! They're the funniest!!!
I am so happy that you made the DMX reference
Thanks to you, I made this dish for the first time and it came out phenomenal Chef John !! So this is where I thank u soo much for posting this video. I can cook a lot of other meals, but spaghetti and meatballs was never one of those dishes prior. NOW I know how to make it PERFECTLY !! I don't eat pork and I made it with just beef, but next time I'll try half beef, half veal. This dish came out superb !!
When making meatballs for sub's I love using a scoop. The flatter bottom is perfect when you're putting them inside rolls. I wouldn't do it for spaghetti and meatballs but for subs it's great. No fall out lol :o)
Finally a chef who gets it!
Speedy week night meal 😘👌 looks delish!!
Chef John, I need to see you eating the food 😡 It's essential.
+isgravybaby You took the words right out of my mouth... well, in this case, my keyboard. I agree 100%.
At one time didn't you do that, Chef?
I disagree. When he goes in with the fork (or whatever utensil is relevant) at the end, I personally am satisfied with that. He shows the inside textures, and you get a feel for how he is eating it (and he can keep the voiceover audio). It's like a first person view of eating the food. I think it's more enjoyable this way where we don't see his face (no offense, Chef!). His thumbnail pic is enough to satisfy curiousity about what he looks like, but I think these videos are great this way, where we are only focused on the food. Quite different from most RUclips cooking vids. His voice is great. Maybe one special video where we see him actually eating as a treat for fans like you, but I much prefer not seeing his face.
Squish
Good point. It IS like experiencing the dish in first person.
It's not really essential for me. I like the way he does it.
I just made this for the third time using your tomato sauce and meatball recipe, and this has to be the best meal I have made ever!! Thank you so much for your inspiration in making simple meals. Your the best!!
i will always always and always love pisgettis no matter what till the end of time and forever and ever and ever!
I'm posting one this week.
Just a fun fact: without detracting from the fact that this looks delicious, I have never seen spaghetti with meatballs back home in Italy. Never. It might be a regional thing, but if so it's very regional, because I have been around, and it's certainly not wel known. Anyway, will make this!
T Verga That’s because it’s an Italian-American dish. Like chicken Parmigiana.
Well thank God for those Italian immigrants (my familia included) that came over and made this up!
I made this recipe this evening. It was simple, tasty and fun to make. Thank you!
No onions? You're a loose cannon, Chef John.
lmfaoooo
got to have onions, and garlic and parsley.
Got to have onions.
Anything with beef.
And no half a bushel of fresh parsley like his older recipe 😅
The Italian herbs had parsley in it.
What I really like about this recipe is that you can't make them tough by over-mixing. Love that. Got to get a little scoop and try these. I love pasta but I'm always too lazy to hand roll the meat balls. Scooping just might be the trick for me.
thanks chef! really great recipe worked flawlessly. though I didn't have tinfoil so my cookie tray did get a bit messy but whatever. :)
Tried these yesterday. They were sooooo good! i rolled them cause i don't have a scoop but obviously they were still fantastic. Definitely using this recipe from now on for meatballs.
I know that what I am about to say defeats the purpose of fast, but if you refrigerate the meat mixture for 4 hours (or better, overnight) then you won't get as much of the juices running out when you broil--they will stay in the meatball.
This turned out fantastic!! I had never made meatballs before and this made it very straightforward 😊 thank you!
YO HE JUST CREDITED DMX, I LOVE CHEF JOHN.
When I get a craving for something and need a recipe, Chef John always has me covered.
thumbs up if you're on a diet and you're dying to eat this right now
If you're on a diet that doesn't allow you to eat 1) red meat or 2) healthy grains, then you need a new diet.
not really, you could be healthy on a vegan diet and allow yourself a cheat day, I think that works too.
If you're on a calorie based diet you could probably have this if you get the portion control right. I eat a lot of Italian pasta meals and have lost 20lb since May.
Chef John is the best best best chef. Simple, delicious and love your humor. 💛
I get really happy and excited every time a new foodwishes video is uploaded!
Well done, as always
Hands down my favorite online chef! Made these before, loved them... making them again!
His magic tricks make me go insane
We just made these substituting ground lamb for veal, then added a bit o' Rosemary. Baked them at 400*F for about 25 mins on a cookie rack, then added them to some homemade sauce. Worlds greatest and fastest meatballs. Thank you Chef John!
Lol I'm watching at 3:37 in the morning
I love all your recipes! Your a great chef!
Is this Kermit from Sesame Street?? Lol
Hi Chef John! Watched many of your vids on food stuff, they are awesome. Yesterday I planned making spaghetti and meatballs for folks. The local butcher was helpful on meat blends, 1/2 pound of grass fed ground chuck, 1/4 pound of ground veal and pork. He also gave suggestions on what to put into them and how to make them. Very similar to your video. Thank you so much for your videos and printable info/ingredients and directions. I tried your broiling slurry method last night, few tweaks (added garlic and onion powder and dried oregano and your suggestion of italian herbs. I realize oregano is in it, but added a bit more). 6 inches from the top and a bit longer than 5 or so minutes each side for broiling, excellent. BUT, I love your scooper idea, borrowed neighbor's and the; meatballs, sauce, spaghetti all came out great!!! I added cheesy/herb/garlic baked and broiled bread and salad to it. Me and my folks LOVED it. Thanks for the tips!
Anyone else watching at 3 in the morning??
lmao i checked 3:28am
5:07 in the morning...I am starving............
Isaac 4:17 :(
Yup!! I hearily recommend these meatballs. I don't know if she made changes to the recipe, but it was delicious.
Lord have mercy
Not only is Chef John an awesome chef, he is also a creative magician. Never before have I seen a wooden spoon turned into a rubber spatula. Just super.
The world's fastest meat ball is the one you bought in Ikea. Just kidding...
Ikea sells food?
Ivy He They go about 30mph.
shanesxe
Ikea's Schwedish MeatBalls are delicious.
STRANGE looking, but Delicious.
Dancing Spiderman
Dancing Spiderman *Swedish meatballs
These meatballs were great! Wanted a quick recipe for my spaghetti 🍝 tonight and it was perfect. They have some wonderful but no overpowering yum flavors together. Easy and delicious it's definitely a repeater.
I could swear he would make the World's FATEST Meatballs, that's until he spoke :))
Just made this today, and it's soooo delicious! Thank you, Chef John.
Must stop watching.. mouth watering too much..
Excellent videos Chef John!
you don't even have to do meatballs in the oven...just drop them into the sauce and cook them there...saves on mess. I use leaner meat for the hamburger. if you want moist meatballs add some ricotta to the mix.
I use buffalo. Super tender and really sweet.
I use buffalo. Super tender and really sweet.
I use buffalo. Super tender and really sweet.
patriot, what cheese do use? and could you describe the texture and flavour?
you can use almost any cheese you like. grated or not... I tried American cheese in the middle of the meatballs. Still delicious
I personally don't brown my meat balls in the oven or top stove. what I do is just drop them into the tomato sauce raw. start by making up your tomato sauce and then by the time you've got your meat balls ready drop them into the sauce and they should be done in about 45 mins. check them with a good instant read thermometer or pull one out and cut into the meat ball and see if it's cooked. I've been doing this for 20 years and learned this from a italian cleaning lady who knew more about cooking then cleaning.
removing the umbilical cord from my egg yolk is a MUST!!!!
Kabbey lassiter It's not an umbilical cord.(The chalazae (plural) are rope-like structures made of protein that act as a support system for the yolk. It keeps the yolk suspended in the center of the egg and safe from pressing against the shell or settling on one side of the egg.)
WOW you are the first I have seen that does this...CAUSE I DO THE SAME!!! It just looks so gross to where I also remove it...yuck! LOL!
Picky picky plcky, only mammals have an umbilicas.
I never thought about putting my meatballs under the broiler. That is absolutely brilliant!
That must be the runniest sauce ever - it was more like a soup!
I'm a college student with 2 jobs, so I love fast meals!! Thanks!
No cayenne? :(
...up in here.
Can I make without viel?
+Kaydee Richards whats wrong with veal?
+Kaydee Richards obviously.. you can do whatever you want.
+Kaydee Richards Do it with pork instead of viel for a even better taste
You are the Stevie Nicks of your meatball mix.
De verdad que sus ideas son tremendas! Muchas gracias Chef John, por compartir tantos detalles!
but where o where is zee garlic!! it is Italian aint it? lol
Lorraine Dassie Chef John used Garlic Granules...
I know its wrong, but in my Italian household we call the sauce gravy, which we typical have on Sunday's hence our staple phase for our Sunday dinner is"Sunday Gravy" along with our fried meatballs, pork bones, braciole, and pig skins. Which all simmer in the Gravy prior to serving. We have good ole Italian meal.. delish! :)
add ricotta to your meatball recipe
Huh? I'm Siciliano but I never heard of such a thing.
Thank Chef John; will try it this evening! Best greetings from France !👍🌻
I made this yesterday and they were so delicious! Highly recommend it! :)
I love his cheerful cook's voice.
Great recipe. These meatballs were easy and amazing.
perfect quick and easy recipe. thanks again john. ill try this technique when im in a time crunch and day.
I just made this with ostrich mince and it came out amazing! Such a versatile recipe 🙏
Your voice show that you are a enthusiastic cook
Thanks for the quickie tips. I tried it using 50/50 beef/pork and I ground up a teaspoon of fennel seeds in my handy dandy mortar and pestle, I always loved the taste of garlic and fennel seeds in spaghetti sauce and this worked well. Oh, I know that you love dried chilli flakes, can you recommend your top 3 please? I grow various types of hot chilles and dry some to grind, but I also buy store bought too and was wondering what kind you like.
I just made this..it came out wonderful!!!thank you, so absolutely quick and EASY!!!!So Goood.
Tried this recipe, served w/your tomato sauce recipe, definite hit, especially for my picky 34 year old son. He said after eating,2 servings, thanks mom for dinner :)
i did not have herbs so i added all seasoning. it is delicious! the best i have ever had.
aww chef john, i just made meat balls tonight and spent a really long time rolling them and browning them in a pan... wish this vid came out just a few hrs earlier... did i mention you're my favorite! :)
and because I knew I was just cooking it with ground beef, i tried to purchase a package of beef that was only 80% lean. Most of them are way too lean. I don't like my meatballs or any type of meat too lean. But Thank God for RUclips. You're a god sent !!
I am excited about this one because it's the perfect weeknight spaghetti and meatballs! Thanks John.
I tried frying them it was messy but tasted much better
How can you not be happy when you cook this good
Mmmm i like the way the Parmesan cheese melts on the balls at the end. Magnefique!!
