    I wouldn't hold your breath on that. There have been prediction of driverless cars since the very late 40's, throughout the 50's, 60's, 70's, 80's 90's and so on. Even the pilots-less drones in Iraq are still flown by a human.

    what do the defect detectors actually detect defects on? How do they work?

      No defects = Train can Proceed
      Hotbox & dragging equipment = Train needs to Stop and investigate and the detector can tell you where the problem is.
      Steams can proceed after they earn hotboxes.
