😅
Mr. RichPin, you have been my RUclips Mechanic for a few years now. Thank you for your videos. You helped me with my 1996 Saturn SW2 . Thank you so much for all you do.
Hi rich just want you to know all of your videos are right on point. You never leave anything out. Keep up the good work. You've saved me a ton of troubles. Thanks again.
Mr. Richpin , this is the third video of yours I’ve used to fix my Saturn Sl2 ...this is also my second sl2 because they are great vehicles and I know as long as RUclips exists and your videos are here, I will be able to fix my car with my own hands.
You’re da man!
Richpin your video's have always helped me with my SLs. Thanks for taking the time to make these videos and answer everyone's non-Saturn questions in the Saturn post.
I am glad i could help.
And years later still helping me
Rich I agree with others on you instructional videos which are to the point as in my quest to find the cps sensor on my 1997 Nissan pickup 2.4 liter engine! I have been sent on a wild goose chase by what I call experienced mechanics mainly at Nissan dealerships when I am sure they know where the sensor is they just want to make it seem more time consuming than it really is so they can change more than it really takes to replace the sensor! Thank you for educating me on this repair! You are the best in my eyes on this particular repair
You need to put the vehicle make and model in the video and at the very least the title.
Engine is a 6.2l GM
This is the only thing, I haven't replaced!! Ty. Richpin
Thatr is the best camera wrok I have ever seen in my entire life! Richpin ROCKS!
Awesome! You started off a bit slow showing the position and I'm glad you did. Very helpful..thank you.
Thanks for taking the time to demonstrate the remove/replace procedure. Looking online for this sensor for a Toyota Sienna 2007.
@rltremblay On the V6 and V8 engines, the crankshaft position sensor is bolted to the cylinder block near the rear of the right cylinder head.
Great Help, Thank You !
thank you sir. im a ford mechanic trying to help a friend and i could not find it. i really appreciate you putting this up
@atamotua64 The crankshaft position sensor is located on the transmission/transaxle housing facing the gear teeth of the flywheel/flexplate
@koyjbboy The crank sensor on that engine is located on the "intake" side of the engine block, near the flywheel.
Thank you so much for this video. It is a great help!
Thanks man, now I know where to find it on my Sony 2005 HD TV. This has been driving me nuts trying to find it.
Rich Felon that’s funny. Thanks for the laugh 😂
Great smooth video clip. Thanks for taking the time!
@spirittoo The 2.2 has the sensor mounted in the side of the block i believe it is in the back like this saturn
@Cory21Smith It is located right next to the crankshaft pulley.
It may be located on the crankshaft timing cover by the flywheel or on some Integra models it is located inside the distributor.
@MyRaptor1 If it has a 1.6L the Crankshaft Position Sensor is located on the right side of the engine Oil Pan.
@shanestieber It is Under hood, center, front engine area, mounted on lower engine block
thank you for all the replies and help by the way I really appreciate it as this is deffinately "a different kind of car" as the ads used to say lol
thanks alot rich you saved me alot of time and frusteration! the cps was my problem it checked out fine when the car was cold but when it would heat up my car would not start.
I guess thats what happends when you purchase
a non OE part from autozone LOL!
@5haringan16 Under hood, passenger side, upper engine area, between cylinder heads, mounted behind the power steering pump reservoir.
On the 3.8L engines, the crankshaft position sensor is mounted on the transaxle housing, above the vehicle speed sensor.
@wheelin20 what engine do you have.
You are correct in thinking it could be a bad Crankshaft Position Sensor. On saturns it is very rare to have a bad ignition module when there is no spark but not the case when it comes to the crankshaft sensor.I would change out the sensor and see what happens.
@andrewzhang05 The cps on your vehicle is located near the A/C compressor.
@MrHarley1dog It is located on the side of the engine block.
@spirittoo Which engine do you have the 2.2 or 4.3
gracias por mostrar este video me ahoro un buen de tiempo
Did a marvelous job thanks
@onionbagel12 On the 3.3L engine it is located behind the crankshaft pulley.
@finneybrandy Do you have spark at the spark plugs.
@BlackSheepFTW Either one will work.
You can also tap into the fuel pump fuse
wire behind the inside fuse panel
@oneiooknurhookd On these engines, it is located on the side of the engine block.
thank s I was looking for long time this information , good helping article
On the 3.5 L engine it is located on the right side of the engine, above the transaxle and just below the exhaust manifold.
On 3.3L and 3.8L engines, the camshaft position sensor mounts to the top of the timing case cover.
@Rosman1974 Yes, but will it be cost affective in the time to diagnosis it.
Awesome.....thank you so much Rich.....★
On 3.3L engines, the crankshaft position sensor is mounted on the transaxle housing, above the vehicle speed sensor.
@jcmele01 If you have the 3.8L engine there is only one crank sensor and is behind the balancer pulley.
you were really helpful thanks a lot.
People, the car description is on the details below the video... But just report it as spam/misleading for not having the vehicle description on the title... Then, there's a better chance to have the uploader write the proper title.
Excellent.video.brother.god Bless.you¡
@danielc49102 It is right down by the crankshaft pulley.
Yes the crank pulley has to be removed to replace that sensor.Crank speed sensor would be how some might call it.
Your truck does not have a crank sensor but it does have a Ignition Control Module in the distributor that might be giving you problems.
Yes The Crankshaft Position Sensor is in the front of the engine block just under the starter motor.
@eZm0n3yy Which engine do you have the 4.3L or 4.8L
thanks alot you were helpful
@atlantista Under hood, passenger side, lower engine area, rear of crankshaft pulley, mounted in timing cover
@COATIF67 No crank sensor on your car only a cam sensor in the distributor.
@jumpinjumpinfan On the 3.5L engine it is above the starter.
On the 2.7L engine the crankshaft position sensor is located at the front of the engine near the timing belt.
The crank sensor is Under hood, center, front engine area, front driver side of engine, mounted in engine block.Cam sensor is Front seating area, center, under engine cover, mounted on upper front of engine above crankshaft position sensor.
The crank sensor is under hood, passenger side, lower engine area, rear of crankshaft pulley, mounted in engine block.I believe the cam sensor is in the timing cover.
thank you bud wonderd were this bloody thing was.. nice one
I always counted on the car's meter and changed the oil when the oil reading was at about 5%. This was around 7000 miles, but I now know this was too long to wait and that the oil level needs to be checked and can be low even if it reads 40%. Are you thinking it could be something else ie timing chain? Thanks for the help.
Tim
@Mp661k I do have a video for the location of the crank sensor for a 02 sentra.
Most 3.1s have two one behind the crank pulley and one in the back of the block.
@OhioSwagg Under hood, driver side, front engine area, mounted rear of crankshaft pulley
excellent thank you
@elchihuas What year please
Gracias amigo no lo encontraba
hey rich......i just changed a cps on 2001 saturn 1.9L
i found a lot easy way of doing it .....i did it from up top
thanks a lot for the reply.
On the vehicle it is located Under hood, passenger side, upper engine area, mounted on the front of engine above oil filter
Thanx!! found it!!
By the diagram I have the knock sensor looks to be in the middle of the engine below the intake manifold somewhere.
Hey bro you should start off by saying what motor your working on, fun tip👍
YOU THINK, You would start out by saying WHAT car it is. Shaking head.
Read the video description area next time
Engine camshaft position Spenser 2007 dodge chagaer 2.7
Look in the description below the video.......Saturn Crankshaft Position Sensor Location.s-series
Saturn is a manufacturer not a specific car.
226eagleeye that's how he got 1.4 million views that was very smart...
The crank sensor on the vue is located behind the starter.
thank you very much!
You're welcome!
Your view is right in front of the crankshaft sensor. A view from opening hood than to----> crankshaft sensor would be a HUGE help. In my Haynes(72051) sentra/200sx book, 95-99 (Shop assured me the book works for the 2002 sentra 1.8L ) its located on the front right under distributor cap of the motor.
Even on a 2002 sl2? I have a vin 7 version.. Codes 0410, and 0341.. And I need to know what kind of intake manifold gasket I need, I have oil in my coolant, and a small whistle noise
I have a 98 sc2. I replaced the cps about a year ago and I am getting that code again along with the knock sensor code. Any thoughts?
@richpin06a thank u ,but is any special toll for replacing? do u think i can replace the cps by myself. thank u verymuch for answer my question!!!
help ! will i need to relearn the new (CPS) sensor ? - if so can you share the possible relearn procedure step by step i have a 98 saturn sl1 sohc auto
@RosemarySam It matters what engine you have
On the 3.8L it is Under hood, driver side, upper engine area, mounted on cylinder head
I did the test where you take off the number one and number 4 plug wires and it did arc across terminals so by the video I watched then the crankshaft sensor isn't bad. I also found a mangled fuse in fuel pump fuse spot. someone, not me, put a 30 amp fuse in the 10 amp fuse spot and it melted to the point of dripping. Im guessing the fuel pump locked up which would have just blown a 10 amp fuse but with the higher amp fuse it melted it.
Rich, is the position sensor also located next to the starter on a 97 grand prix? The car has a V6 engine. I hope you can help me. Thanks.
Under hood, center, front engine area, rear of crankshaft pulley, mounted in engine block
You can do resistance checks on them to see if they are good.
@BowToTheKing13 Under hood, center, upper engine area, rear of intake manifold, mounted in distributor
what kind of car are you giving the details for that would be nice to know what are you working on
A 2001 Acura
2001 Acura
Northstar Cadillac Cadillac engine I'm trying to locate my crankshaft position sensor it's a 1994 Cadillac DeVille concours for the 32 engine Northstar what is it located at
@hillbilliemoonshine That is the knock sensor
In the beginning of the vid, what is that round sensor an inch or two to the right of the starter?
My '02 SC2 doesn't have one.. just an empty hole. It also runs like crap so I'm wondering if I'm missing something.
can any typical problems cause a crankshaft position error to com from the ecm? for example, a tuneup, bad coil, bad distributor etc? my car runs fine but i have had this problem 2 times in 2 weeks and when it happens it runs poorly but if i turn the car off and sit for a minute it will run fine. if it runs fine four times consecutively the check engine light goes off. i know i need a tuneup. should i just do that or replace the sensor as well? i have recieved this diagnostic code both times
does this mean i have to take off the crankshaft pulley to get to it? and is the other crank sensor on the back of the block also known as crank speed sensor? thank you.
The location is Under hood, center, front engine area, mounted on lower engine block .
do you know the location of the two teeth sensor for a 2002 lexus es300. I found the three teeth sensor by the transmission dip stick but the teeth I have not located
Sir, Great video, was wondering on a 1997 sc2 not starting/ can you jumper the purple and yellow wires up on top of car to see if car starts and if soo then ill know if my cps is bad, thanks
It is above the starter on the 2.4L engine.
@ochrered RockAuto.com will ship to Canada.That sensor is $27.
