    I love that your videos center around the instrumentation, procedural explanations, and the view outside. Where other flight videos make the pilot the star, you get out of the way and let the flight be the star. In doing so, you reveal the true beauty of flight. Also, I love the quad-view presentation on take off and landing. Please keep the videos coming.

    A good friend of mine is a home care nurse, she gave me an 02 sensor similar to yours and I use it all the time. About 7 years ago a local pilot here at KROC and his wife were going to Florida in their TBM_750. The 02 system failed somewhere over PA and they both became hypoxic. The military scrambled F16's as they were headed south around Washington. They escorted the TBM, that was on autopilot, all the way to south Florida off the coast where it ran out of fuel and went down in the ocean. A very sad situation that deeply affected everyone here in the pilot community.. Hypoxia is very real, and very dangerous! $20-$40 for an 02 sensor is cheap insurance to save your life. I wish everyone had one, and used it!! Sorry for the sad story, if it helps 1 person though it was worth it. --gary

    • @GrantBaker
      @GrantBaker  2 года назад +1

      Gary, I remember that accident. If I remember right, that’s partially what prompted TBM to develop their auto descent system in a depressurization event.

    Great video! I like the camera placement, being able to monitor speed while you land. Was 75 IAS pretty low for a full flaps landing or is it usually that slow?

    • @GrantBaker
      @GrantBaker  2 года назад +2

      I usually see around 80, but I also usually land with 30° flaps. We were also pretty light with just two people onboard after 5hrs of flying.

    • @GrantBaker

      Yes, it is pressurized, but you can’t always have it at sea level. You’re limited by the maximum differential pressure.

    • @GrantBaker
      @GrantBaker  2 года назад +2

      The airplane schedules the pressurization automatically. It does have a “Low Cabin” option which forces the schedule to use max differential pressure and could lower the cabin a few hundred feet depending on what the pressurization was already set by the schedule.

    As a pilot I thought it was not a smart idea to "challenge" yourself in landing short. That one day will end your life. I don't mean to be harsh. I have lost a pilot buddy because he said he wanted to land short. Be very careful with those "challenges."

    • @GrantBaker
      @GrantBaker  2 года назад

      I’m sorry to hear that Joe. As I stated before starting the approach, airspeed awareness is vital in a short field landing maneuver. I think challenging yourself is a good thing, but you’re right to say to be careful when exploring closer to the edges of the performance envelope of either yourself or the plane.
