This Navy Vet thanks you. 16 years since I served, and it still feels like yesterday. In addition to this movie, I read the book this movie is based on and the movie pretty nearly followed the book word for word. A fitting tribute to these people and what they went through. One last thing: I loved the music composed for this film; it was very powerful.
One of my Soldiers was playing the game with Sean Smith the night he died. He wears the KIA bracelet with his name on it. And I love that the cook even was willing to fight.
I was in goonswarm when it happened, btw thats where my bee avatar comes from. The thing is Sean was our head diplomat which means he handled relationships and disputes with other alliances. He played eve sometimes but his role as diplomat could be done through out of game communications like jabber. Which is where he was when the fighting started. The FBI actually asked us for the chat logs, you can probably find them online. We used to give him a hard time cause we thought he would exaggerate his circumstances. Like dude youre an IT guy haha. Several times before this he had to disconnect cause things were happening but he always came back, even before Libya. This had been going on for years. We weren't very close but we spoke several times and he was always cool. Mostly knew him from posting on our alliance forums. We still have stations named after him and lots of videos from eve online here on RUclips reacting to his death and various tributes. My favorite was the jump portal generator. Remember too, that when these real guys wrote this book, they were all blacklisted by the military, the government, and the CIA. They had CIA tails placed on them to follow them. And they were threatened trying to keep them silent.
When asked under Senate investigation about what could have or should have been done to help these men, Hillary Clinton responded, “what difference does it make?” That’s how much the government cares about you. And don’t try to spin this Left or Right. It’s both. It’s the whole government. That’s how much they care about you. When asked about your life, “what difference does it make?”
Whats worse is that there would have been no American deaths. They could have easily gotten everyone out of there alive if it weren't for the fact that Hillary didn't want an 'incident.' It was Libya, there would have been British SF forces there because there were in other parts of the city, they'd be other SF from other countries. Sickening.

Army vet here, so happy someone finally reacted to this movie. It deserves so much more attention than it got/gets. It's Michael Bay, so overdone explosions from RPGs and other munitions, but that's Hollywood in general. From what I've gathered about the situation it's pretty true to the events that happened. I'm not going to bother to get political as many others have already done that, but it's a damn shame there was no US support during any of this.
I was thinking the same thing, no one ever reacts to the actual movie. They just react to the trailer or they just speak about the movie in a review. Then people talk about how its a boring movie and that theres not constant action as if its a movie made for entertainment purposes instead what it actually is. A movie telling a story of true events about real people. The movie effects were pretty far fetched. Dude gets hit with an M249 and gets sent flying, smoke trails behind a 40mm GL round the unrealistic arc from the 40mm grenades, the fire ball style explosions. But it still tells the story well.
Damnit, this enraged me all over again. I served in Marine scout sniper unit. To know that these men were abandoned by the people at the top of our government just sickens me. No American help was sent. Troops in Italy could have been there in 4 hours.
To think that those handful of security contractors basically kept an entire city at bay from getting to their fellow trapped Americans. Two giving their lives and several others being maimed while under fire. Definitely one of Bay’s better films that actually does credit to those brave souls who fought bitterly to keep their fellow Americans safe and alive when their country abandoned them.
Another sad point. Mike Glover, a delta operator talks about being in Libya right after this happened on his podcast. According to Mike, delta and the cia tracked down the guys who coordinated the terrorist attack and requested multiple times to go take out the terrorists, but we’re denied by the DOD.
I remember Glover said that his frustration with the leadership in that situation is what led to him getting out of the military. Too bad, because we need as many people like him as we can get downrange. On a much more minor point, though, I'm pretty sure he was a Green Beret, not Delta.

So Bob, the incompetent CIA leader in this film, is what intelligence people call a CIA case officer or staff operations officer, someone who works in intelligence gathering of covert operations overseas. Many CIA case officers have paramilitary training, but for the most part, they are not soldiers or military personnel on the front lines like many of the former special operations guys depicted in this film. The CIA has an extensive history of using private military companies, i.e., contractors/mercenaries (who are usually former U.S military special operations), to do a lot of their paramilitary work and, in the case of Benghazi, were tasked with protecting CIA infastructure and employees. That being said, the CIA does have their own employees who are tasked with engaging in paramilitary operations - activities similar to what is depicted in this film. They are called paramilitary operations officers and they are part of a branch/divison of the CIA called the Special Activies Divison/Center.
One of the better comments. Very accurate sir. I was a contract operator from 03 to 2010. Mostly middle east and some south America. Never in Africa. Kris Paronto has his own podcast called Battleline Podcast, and he had on a woman named Sarah Adams who was a CIA targeter who worked with him in Benghazi but she rotated out before the attacks. Really good listen if you want to learn more. She brought new information to light, one being that the base chief, Bob, was apparently very inexperienced and was told by the Feb 17 commander in a phone call that he was not sending any of his men to help, so he in fact lied to the GRS team that Feb 17 was coming through the whole ordeal. Also meaning that the two young guys that Kris and Boon picked up were not Feb 17 but just two random kids that offered to tag along 😂
To answer a question about the cia, they have different classes of officers from intelligence and analysts to special activities also known as paramilitary operators and then contractors. In this movie these guys are CIA contractors who are tasked with protecting CA intelligence analysts. The analysts are trained The Bare Basics for survival but they're not spies. The contractors, GRS which stands for Global Response staff have to have a certain amount of years in the military preferably with Special Operations and then have to go through a separate schoolhouse and pass with very high scores. The bare minimum score is usually a 97 out of 100 from what I've heard
"I don't know how you made it through all that, but I sure know how the rest of us did, thank you." That's hands down the realest damn line of dialogue in the whole movie.
There's a book called In The Dark of War I'm currently reading it, it takes places 2 years after this incident when Libia fell completely into chaos and the Tripoli airport was shut down by the fighting. The new ambassador, all of the embassy staff, the marine security force and the CIA country team had to evacuate in a convoy to Tunisia because nobody in the government wanted to make a judgment call and evacuate sooner based on the intelligence the CIA were gathering.
Ambassador Chris Stevens was pulled out from locals and brought to a nearby hospital but unfortunately he passed at the hospital. RIP Amb. Chris Stevens.. 💔
Great "intense" action movie. Personally I love John Krasinski, mostly because he married the woman of my dreams lol. Michael Bay is a great action movie director who actually started his career making music videos. He is widely known for all the 'Transformer' movies, but my favorites are 'The Rock', 'Bad Boys' and 'The Island'. Oh yeah, and let's not forget 'Armageddon'. Totally worth watching.
I think his worse movie was “Pearl Harbor” about how Imperial Japan meticulously and quite deceitfully orchestrated one of the world’s most devastating attacks on a U.S. Army Air Corps love triangle. “13 Hours” more than makes up for that in my opinion and gets Michael Bay off my shite list. This is a great, historically accurate film. I’m am so grateful we have men like this keeping the world safe at the greatest costs imaginable.
This is one of the few war movies that I don't cry at some point, because anger takes over. This movie needs to be reacted to more. They did such a good job making this film. It's hard to watch every time though.
Vet here! Thanks for watching and sharing your opinions. If you like “real events” check out John Chapman’s Medal of Honor. Just so you also know… it’s a tough watch.
35:15 what you're describing in what we in the Military refer to as "React to contact" it's exactly what is sounds like, How you react once an engagement occurs. the SOP is to gain fire superiority and maneuver
Haven’t seen it said yet, but Glenn (guy at the airport trying to get in to the city to help) was one of the seals who shot the pirates in Captain Phillips
Ah, kind of expected the new All Quiet on the Western Front from Netflix as movie for the 11. November because of the ceasefire that was announced at that day in 1918.
I love this movie. I was literally watching it yesterday and Lone Survivor. Michael Bay killed this movie. R.I.P to the soldiers that lost their lives.🙏🏽
So the whole “I call attackers” thing. When the people overthrew Gaddafi control of Lydia basically split between semi friendly semi warring rival factions. And each faction were essentially terrorist groups. When the CIA started doing covert work there leading up to this, they coordinated with a friendlier group called the “February 17th Martyrs Brigade.” Feb 17 being the day Gaddafi was ousted. The other faction that consolidated power and basically took the rest of the country was the Ansar al-Sharia, which was essentially a branch of the Taliban. So all the different factions all know each other and they’re al technically “bad guys,” just some are a little more friendly than others. That’s also why all the “cops” ran when the attack started. They have no obligation to be there, and many of them would just get picked up by another faction and start fighting anyway.
Sean Smith was a huge EVE Online player with the username Vile Rat and has the biggest clan at the time, Goonswarm. During the attack he logged in and typed "Fuck. Gunfire," to the chat before getting killed in the fire later. The clan attends annual memorial for their diplomat since then.
As a Vet (Army, 11B) and a former Embassy Security team member this movie hits a little closer for me as a worse case situation that we could face. and with how all the stuff leading up too / during / after for this attack is alot of BS. then to have these guys fired by the CIA while in Germany right after being pulled out then left there as they had no $$ or passports , so a U.S. Senator had to go and personnel get them out and bring them back to the U.S.(from what i heard on the down low) there was so much BS
I heard this one fact either from an interview from one of the guys who fought or in a article about the incident was that the reason the Libyan security that came with Glen left and came back was to take out the mortar team that was mortaring them at the end. This piece of information wasn’t known by the Americans until awhile after the incident
This movie made me both immensely proud of our fighting men and disgusted and ashamed of our government. They left those people to die and had there not been any survivors there would have been no other side of the story being told.
Not a fan of the very small and faded window showing the movie. I've seen the movie a few times but still nice to see it more clearly and more prominently.
Love your channel guys and great reactions. I wonder if you will look into a veterans movie named "The Park is Mine ". It stars Tommy Lee Jones and he's a Vietnam vet who takes over central park in New York. Has action and his reason is deep for what vets maybe dealing with. Have a great day and thanks.
If I’m not mistaken, the police were warned to pretty much get the hell out of dodge ahead of time. Keep in mind that those locals “17Feb” had to bring their own bullets/guns and were paid barely anything.
CIA has analysts, most of the station staff were analysts. One or two were operations officer, spooks but still not military. The para military wing of the CIA is called SAD special activities division, there was one guy in that movie, the man that was in Tripoli that came with 2 delta operators. All the good guys were actually GRS global response staff, ex-spec op types contracted by the CIA to act as station bodyguards, drivers, & babysitters.
You can serch the place in google earth and the movie is amazingly accurate. On google maps you can still see the damage on building C and the almost demolished building D.
I got a chance to meet Tonto and Boone and I asked them if the Sexy and I Know It seen was real and Tonto said he actually did do that and Boone did threaten to shoot him
If we had better leadership in the White House during this operation, that place wouldn’t have fallen into enemy hands and everybody would’ve made it home.
The CIA is most definitely not trained to fight. They don't have nearly the amount of tactical know-how that special operations guys have, despite what Hollywood would have you think. The CIA has an in-house tactical team called the Strategic Activities Division, but those are all former Tier 1 operators anyway.
The CIA were anylists, not CIA Action Bureau. I believe that it's likely that they had little or no combat training at "The Farm". You would enjoy THE RECRUIT with Colin Frerrell, a CIA recruit.

One of my new favorite channels. You guys are really awesome.
This is Hillary Clintons mess left them without help.
Watched on Veterans Day. A movie about veterans who were abandoned in a horrible situation and then denied their deaths even counted.
I’m am so grateful we have men like this keeping the world safe at the greatest costs imaginable.
shitton of people hate him
I personally believe that “The Island” Is his most underrated movie.
Found y’all’s channel today and have been binging all your videos. So far y’all will now be in the top 3 react channels that I frequent lol👌🏻
Bruce Willis made a good one called "Tears of the sun" you guys should checkout
Yep. They literally stalked Ambassador Chris Stevens. They even knew his route when he went for jogs.
Definitely recommend Act of Valor next!
This story and these 3vents are one of the biggest reason Hilary lost to trymp...Trump.....right or wrong
Trump needs to come back to Power!
Another really good army movie that was based on a true story is called 12 Strong it stars Chris Hemsworth it's takes place a little bit after 9/11
35:15 what you're describing in what we in the Military refer to as "React to contact" it's exactly what is sounds like, How you react once an engagement occurs. the SOP is to gain fire superiority and maneuver
Thanks for giving your reaction, that movie is real badass. My favourite too.
Haven’t seen it said yet, but Glenn (guy at the airport trying to get in to the city to help) was one of the seals who shot the pirates in Captain Phillips
Finally, been waiting for this movie to be reacted to.
Tyrone is his name. They’re real people. Lol
Army combat medic here.
The blanket as the green screen was super cool
I have been waiting for someone to react to this!
I'm really glad you guys did this movie. I subscribed =)
Great reaction to a movie that should have never had a reason to be made.
Hope y'all have a wonderful Thanksgiving.
I was waitin got you guys to react to this Letsss GOOOO
"1917" is also a good watch.
John krasinski is a great actor and can play almost any type of character you'd want to see.
Man y’all should watch thank you for your service
Tyrone is an Irish ☘️ name. Still somewhat common on this side of the pond. Funny enough, it seems like the only Tyrones in America are black.
My Sociology teacher was a former Special Forces and said he knew guys that were involved in this operation.
this movie puts into light how evil Hillary Clinton is
They needed a wet towel at the bottom of the bathroom door to keep the smoke out
OMG i seen this movie many times never noticed it was him from the Pacific another fav series i love LOL totally missed that
No drama between Jim and Roy in this assignment.
dude new to your channel ...love it.. stay frosty
You should watch Fury with Brad Pitt
I recommend the movie - 12 Strong. How American soldiers on horseback in Afghanistan fought the Taliban armed with tanks
God bless you young Americans!!!
Hi. His name is John Krasinki. He is from The Office
I heard this one fact either from an interview from one of the guys who fought or in a article about the incident was that the reason the Libyan security that came with Glen left and came back was to take out the mortar team that was mortaring them at the end. This piece of information wasn’t known by the Americans until awhile after the incident
Yes. That’s in the book I believe. That’s why the mortars stopped firing.
This movie made me both immensely proud of our fighting men and disgusted and ashamed of our government. They left those people to die and had there not been any survivors there would have been no other side of the story being told.
I love this movie. And I have such respect for the men that were there
I do love that 2 of the prominent actors from The Office played in this.
Would you consider reacting to the Michael Bay film Pearl Harbor?
Guys, your mic volume is too high, or the video vol is too low. We cant hear the movie well unless your voices are to loud when you shout.
Thanks for watching this!
Reminder: This is based on the on the ground experiences of the men that were there. Thanks for watching this.
Thank you Hillary
You can serch the place in google earth and the movie is amazingly accurate. On google maps you can still see the damage on building C and the almost demolished building D.
a great choice for a movie.
Absolutely love you two
I got a chance to meet Tonto and Boone and I asked them if the Sexy and I Know It seen was real and Tonto said he actually did do that and Boone did threaten to shoot him
Tyrone is his actual name….. it’s a real story all real names but jack because jack was active when the movie was filmed. This really happened..
Nobama and Billary are gonna answer for that someday
If we had better leadership in the White House during this operation, that place wouldn’t have fallen into enemy hands and everybody would’ve made it home.
How did they saved that guy's mangled left arm is beyond me. That was hardcore.
The part when he said ooooh his fingers lmao 😂😂😂😂
The CIA is most definitely not trained to fight. They don't have nearly the amount of tactical know-how that special operations guys have, despite what Hollywood would have you think. The CIA has an in-house tactical team called the Strategic Activities Division, but those are all former Tier 1 operators anyway.
Bill did something like this when he was in charge. Watch Black Hawk down.
Great reaction. Although I'll never understand how anyone can watch these movies with 1 earbud lol.
The CIA were anylists, not CIA Action Bureau. I believe that it's likely that they had little or no combat training at "The Farm". You would enjoy THE RECRUIT with Colin Frerrell, a CIA recruit.
all i can say, welcome to 10% of our REAL WORLD, in the real it's worse!!! you're guys emotions pft, we aint got time for nor bilitys too. i will respect you took time to watch and react to of this.
