This is exactly the video I've been looking for. I'm visiting London this summer and have been wondering about the life of the streets and what focal length I should bring. I have a 21 and 35 but I'm considering the new Voigtlander 28 1.5. Also, this is the first time I haven't skipped through a sponsor ad (I even signed up).

I feel like the 28mm is a 10/10 in interesting cities like London, Tokyo, NY or at some nice travel destinations but when you hold it in everyday situations in your suburb it instantly looks like a boring phone picture. It's one where 95% of your shots are underwhelming but the 5% make it exciting

I always used to wonder what the point of the 28mm was when it was so close to the 24mm, and then i started doing street instead and now I'm annoyed that my current camera platform of choice, Sony, doesnt have a good mini 28mm either in the sigma I series range or those sony G mini lenses. Funny how times change, would love a 28mm now. (just going to ignore the sony 28mm f2.8 lol)

    • @professionalpotato4764

The only 28mm lens worth buying on all mirrorless platforms now (apart from Leica) is the Fujifilm XF 18mm f/1.4. (28 f/2 equiv). Everything else is disappointing.

@@alhOOO2O Understandable, but then again most Leicas don't have good autofocus or even autofocus to begin with so I think Fuji is still usable. At least for street and casual use. It is definitely a chonky lens and I do sometimes wish it was smaller.

@@MikeChudley spot on mate I've shot a few events concerts parades etc with the Q series and it just works flawlessly the 28mm lens makes you get in close and the images reflect that in the moment feeling. Big call but I'd say the Q or the Q2 would be my desert island camera......hopefully there's lecky and a few people on the island too otherwise it's an expensive waste.

Bottom line, be respectful, don’t look intimidating. Look like your enjoying yourself. All those little things help.
