Jay and Mark Duplass have made names for themselves with the endearing hyperrealism of their mumblecore films. Now, the brothers are writing a new TV series, which follows the tribulations of 30-somethings trying to make sense of their adult lives.
+Jordan Weimer Does it? Thats the difference with something that is really good, it stands on its own, it does not require a reference of what came before, so cliché people can say ' this is so innovative'.
That was so beautiful hearing what these guys have done, their relationship and their work ethic, creative ideas. Also their start in the industry. It was really fun to learn more. Great interviewer, I only wish it could've gone on longer.
Love these guys! They’re brilliant! Togetherness is an awesome series, I just wish they made more than 2 seasons. I’m into Room 104 right now and find it so unique and clever and cerebral.
not sure what all this negativity is for in the comments. i thoroughly enjoyed this interview and very much grew to like the guys more through out it and will definitely be checking out their work.
I'm sooooo far removed for this kind of Hollywood, LA, screen acting interview talk about experience, motivation and first world problems. Mumblecore eh? I'll try and crowbar that into a natural sentence next week at work.
+Rob The Fandom Menace Its true, very much first world problems indie shows..all dealing with the same ass bullshit 'problems'. Like Girls, Togetherness, Transparency..etc It's not bad, but just ...cliché in many ways and annoying to see this very privileged people be the center point of again a tv show with the same type of music etc etc. Transparency and girls are much worse , with such privileged cunty kids. Yughhhh I think it would be much better if it would delve into some deeper shit... Sopranos for me is one of the more realistic shows, many think its a maffia show, but its so much more about humans, what is inside them, wat moves people, from a very original perspective.( The cunty privileged kids are also present in sopranos, children of tony, but shown for what they are or can be and it doenst revolve around them) still nothing is made that is better or more authentic and real.
There are some nice 'realistic' moments in mumblecore movies (and now tv show). But after you watch one of them, you see their limitations (non-actors), and why you'd rather have 'real' actors , who have range, depth, characterization, etc. With this kind of filmmaking, it kind brings the standards down for actors. It's just looking for 'types', and types that can only do that one kind of type, that one personality.
I remember when Vice was awesome... When they would cover interesting things from all over the world that no one else would cover or talk about. This is just crap
Rye car mesinkken polo people dancing river water I think not shall so be it and forth on dancing with the Stars are fish people cia Intel becmming stuff
These boys talk as if they are the Safdie brothers. Mumblecore? Really? These guys are hacks. They need to stop talking as if they think they're the second coming of Cassavettes. BOO!
Best interviewer ever. And wow, these guys are real artists and such a breath of fresh air, love what they've been up to.
Yoooo!!! I remember The Puffy Chair days…so happy for the Duplass bros to see how far they’ve come!!
"terrified to die with their music in them" absolutely perfect.
Mark Duplass always looks like he needs a Hot bowl of soup and a warm hug... 😢😢😢
Lol not untrue
The interviewer seems far too cultured and undouchey for a vice employee
+Happy Now Where's his 1920'S mustache is all I'm saying
+Happy Now If any vice people see this I'm kind of only messing, I appreciate this interview the Super Duplass Bro's are my heroes.
Happy Now isn't he the guy that pissed off RDJ in that interview where RDJ got mad? don't we all remember that?
The way the interviewer laughs at someone else’s existential dread 😂 1:27
I have never watched this show, but i really enjoy hearing people talk about their art. it's always invigorating

What an original idea for a tv show(sarcasm). I think there may have been a show called "30 Something" but I think it was about something else.
Watching the reality shows on RUclips seem more hyper"real" than any fake drama Hollywood can create. These type of comedies seem mundane and forced.
+ted rohe and EH CBunny, Shut up and make new awesome shit exist. That's how humanity best critiques what's come before.

Im rewatching Togetherness in 2024. Wish it has more than two seasons.

We wanted to do something that LA television executives would really relate to.
Anyone who wants a primer on these dudes should watch "Jeff, Who Lives At Home". Film is as funny as it is poignant.
I just watched Outside In, and loved it.
Frankenstein was the doctor
Why this comment
The guy looks like All Pacino in the thumbnail
