  • Welcome to the channel! Race footage is of Shizuoka Marathon, in Shizuoka city, Shizuoka prefecture.
After years of making videos I finally talk about my biggest (current) hobby. Interested in Japan running events, or just general info about getting out there and training in the land of the rising sun? This is the video.

Special thank you and shout out to my friend Mike, who lent me his GoPro 11 for the race. Maybe I can afford one of those someday, I have a lot of ideas....

You've got some awesome footage in here. Side note: I can't imagine ever running outside during a Japanese summer. I was a sweaty mess within 10 minutes of just walking outside in Tokyo last August.

It took my over 10 years to really get used to it. Through my running 'career' I used to basically take summer off, until around 3 years ago when I started running in the heat. That adjustment means if I ever return to Wisconsin in the winter, I will probably die. 😂

I will never stop making the niche stuff. I know it won't make my channel famous, but I would be happy with 'underground famous'. lol

South east asian summers are comparable to Japan I think so I should be good should I get sent there. I hate running after a summer rain though as I find it harder to breath through all the moisture in the air.

Yes, it does help to be acclimated to it already. Coming from a hot but mostly dry part of the US, it took me years to finally feel able to train over the summer. There are still days when I feel like I am running underwater though...

@@Exjapter That said, how do you run in winter? Do you have a mask to cover your face from the cold? We don't have winters where I'm from and the coldest we get here is maybe 18C/64F and it kinda hurts the nose even at those temps which is no where near winter temps in Japan. I imagine even the eyes get dry running in winter?
