Hi Sue, This lamp looks amazing, absolutely beautiful. I don't think you have any idea as to how important your videos are to some of us. Every morning I get up, make coffee, and look to see if there is a new video of yours waiting to be viewed. When there is it's great except coffee goes cold where I'm just wrapped up watching you. I can't wait to have a go myself, just waiting for the delivery of the standard lamp, now I have to get the table lamp too. Thank you so much. Please stay safe, and your family too. xx😘

Thank you for another video. This is definitely my favourite shade. I love the colours. I look forward to every video, to break up the boredom of being isolated.
This one is gorgeous also! I was so excited after seeing your first video on these shades that I went directly to my craft area to get started only to find I did not have enough resin on hand lol. I've placed my order and keeping my fingers crossed I will get it here quickly. I just love the way these look on the lamps. Beautiful! My question is: will the heat from the light eventually make the resin warp? I would think the heat would eventually do something to it. Thanks!
Hi Sue I need help! I made one of these lamp shades but wasn’t happy with how it came out. I made a second one and love it! The colors, shells, and crushed glass are perfect. The next morning when I removed the plastic, I had 3 tears where the resin was too thin! 😞😞😞😞 do you know of any way I can repair this or should I mark it up to experience and go for a third time? Any help is MOST appreciated!
I have fixed tears by gluing them together with resin. Wait until your mixing up a fresh batch and use a tiny amount of your left over resin to glue it together. Tip, let the resin sit on a bit of plastic for about half an hour, so that it is starting to cure, that way it will be nice, thick and sticky for gluing. Good luck 💕
Thank you. It all depends on how much it costs for my materials and how much resin I use. And of course, how long it takes me to make it. Each piece is priced individually.
Sue I am a huge fan and wait with baited breath for your videos! You are so generous with sharing your techniques and insights. You use Liquid Glass resin from U Resin but it doesn't seem to be available in USA. Do you have a recommendation for USA? TIA.
I can't give you recommendations because I haven't tried any other brands using this technique. I know some people have used Stonecoat resin, mastercast 1:2:1 and Pro Marine resins. As for which one is best, I have no idea. I believe Art Resin is too soft for this kind of thing, judging by what others have said.
Hey I LOVE your videos I find them very calming. And your talent and eye for color is FIRE!!!! I was hoping you could do a very basic how to for beginners. I don’t want to start a business just a new hobby to share pieces with friends and family. So something very small/simple and easy. 💕
Hi thanks so so much for your videos , can I ask why you changed from cling wrap to cellophane , I’m really new and curious is it because the cellophane thicker ?. Also I’m in Australia and wondered what is the best resin to buy pls ,
I changed because I wanted a different finish. The thicker it is, the harder it is to fold. The thin stuff, creates more of a curve. I use liquid glass form U Resin. Sue 💕
@@SueFindlay the insects attracted to the light landed in the bowl and the smell of burning insects was yuck . I wonder if being a LED bulb whether that wouldn't be an issue?
Thank you 💕 not all resins are created equally. My resin doesn't stick to plastic or cellophane, where others have told me, their resin sticks to cellophane. Some people use shower curtains. I would recommend testing your resin, before embarking on your project. 💕
I tried this twice and both times they slowly collapsed with no light on. How long do they have to cure to prevent this? I now have two inside out...upside down lampshades...lol
It all comes down to your brand of resin. Some are softer than others. I believe Art resin is quite soft. You can strengthen it by creating another layer and gluing them together with more resin. If that is not possible, apply another coating of resin to it by using an old brush. This will make it a bit thicker and may help. Add the coating to the inside, so that you don't see it. In case it isn't perfect. Finally, allow your piece to cure for at least a week. Good luck 💕
I use a resin calculator to work out how much resin I need. Measure your shade to get the overall diameter and then use this calculator: www.uresin.com.au/art-calculators/ Note, this is just a guide and will vary slightly depending on the viscosity of your resin. Good luck with your first project.
@@foxiepoxi9245 Hi..would you mind telling me the kind you found ? I'm in Canada and searching too for the right sort.. I thought florist paper would be good..what do you think ?
Hi Frank, did you leave your resin curing for long enough? Some resins can take up to a week to fully cure. Try putting it back on to the item you used to create the shape and see if it bends back again. Then leave it for longer. It could be that the brand of resin you are using is too soft. I believe Art Resin is not very good for this kind of shaping. Also, make sure you use an LED BULB to prevent the resin from heating up and going soft. Finally, your resin may be too thin, adding another layer, could help strengthen it. Good luck 💕
