People are still dumb in the opposite way. I see estate sales where the estate sellers look up high grade value of books on eBay and price their books accordingly even though the books they are selling are in terrible condition and ungraded.

The census is null and void books are constantly recycled through cgc and if you go by the census you don’t understand the process. I don’t know about sports cards but comic books are pressed etc and regraded all the time …cracked and resubmitted with people hoping for a higher grade. This is not true what you’re saying yet you continue to say it. The census was a terrible idea because you can’t track a book unless the owner sends the label in and nobody does that because they want a higher grade and sending a label will make it bias 🤷‍♂️

There is plenty of supply right now. It’s all about demand. Demand determines the price at this point.

It would be cool if you could find a data source or metric to see some of the census growth over time or from five years ago and now for some key books!

New Comics keep coming. The older the comic the longer it's been collected. Eventually older ones rise. Look at copper age these days.

The challenge with your line of thinking is that it assumes that, once a given book is graded, it stays in the slab in perpetuity. I don't believe that to be the case. I've seen more than a few commenters here on RUclips that have said that they buy slabbed books but always crack them out afterwards. Raws going to slabs; slabs going to raws: it's a cycle.

That's the part I believe changes over time. All the keys will be in slabs (or back in slabs)

Let me ask you a question: How many 1968 Mustangs are out there in the world? Now my 2nd question: How many 8.0-10.0 1968 Mustangs are out there in the world? Exactly. HUGE difference. Just because "Bob the collector gets his Iron Man 1 graded" doesn't mean anything to me. Why? Because they aren't good copies. Same thing for comics. Price an Iron Man 1 in a CGC 9.0 vs. an Iron Man 1 in a CGC 4.0. Lemme' know what you find out. Rule? Buy HIGH GRADED KEYS and sit on them. Forever. The End.

Where we disagree is I believe there are still LOTS of ungraded high grade copies of Iron Man 1 out in the wild. You're comparing apples to oranges

I buy low grade and unslabbed to make my money go further. Maybe in this grand future I will buy more slabs as the prices come down some. Adding more golden agers to the PC every chance I get, they have such varied and interesting covers.

Just a thought, I think in a few years when the boomer generation begins to die off alot of collections will hit the market. Will prices drop even more?

The same thing will happen with Houses, Classic Cars, Gold, Guitars, Stocks, Land, basically anything touched by a Boomer is going to go down. I think I read somewhere it's 3:1 ratio

Tell you a story. My friends dad owned a comic from 1988 till 1995. He passed away, put all his stores inventory in a storage unit. Many comic boxes. Forty to fifty copies of ASM #300, X-Men #266, NM #89 & #98. All 9.0 or higher. This was a tiny shop. None have been slabbed. You are hundred percent right, these books are not even close to being rare.

this is the smartest cgc videos I ever watch. People treat CGC and last sales like stock. Oh this book last sold for $100 therefoe this book is now worth $100 never make sense to me. For example spawn #1 goes for $20-$30. That book sold 2 million copies assuming only half survive. You're telling me spawn #1 have the maket share of $20-$30 million is ridculous.
