57:11 I loved how this arc parallels to Arlong Park so much like even that Sanji getting punched by both Luffy and Jimbei parallels back to when Zoro and Sanji accidentally hit Usopp together during Arlong arc
I love Nami's response to Jinbei so so much and also how much it clearly was weighing on Jinbei that he bows and breaks into tears. The whole Neptune family is full of great people for sure, love them but especially Shirahoshi and Otohime. I said it before and I'll say it again, this flashback is one of the best in the story and I really like how much it tries to convey and how it's not a simple message but it tries to shows tons of sides in this conflict and characters who can be amazing people or terrible people or anything inbetween but most of all are just people. Like Arlong, this arc elevates him as a character for me for sure, it doesn't make him a good person or justified or anything close to that but you understand him and his experiences a bit more and you can see where he is coming from and how far he ended up taking it the other way.
There's a bunch of great moments here. Oda doing his thing of "Oh look at this goofy guy, haha what a funny dude" and then the reason they're goofy is incredibly tragic. Except this time it's two of them, Shirahoshi's brothers dancing and singing through their tears to stop her from panicking broke me. And also Nami's response to Jinbei's story. Fishman Island gets a lot of hate, but I do think a lot of that is because of the weekly experience, when I re-read it in one shot it was way more enjoyable than I remember the first time. Anyway time to go beat up Hody (if Jinbei will let us).
"Fun" fact, or maybe not so fun. You could argue that every mammal is a fish. Taxonomy is weird. Every whale is a mammal. Every mammal has amniotic eggs, so every whale has amniotic eggs. Every being with amniotic egg is a tetrapod. So every whale is a tetrapod. If we go on every mammal is a fish. (Just like every fish is an animal, and every whale is an animal. Just because there are animals with more defining characteristics (like being a mammal), they dont stop being mammals. Reptiles (which by the same definition could include birds together with lizards, turtles, and crocs), mammals, amphibians and all the other vertebrates with jaws evolved from fish ancestors Another old definition of fish is something like most animals that live strictly underwater and are fish shaped (which is not helpful at all) It really depends if you're using the paraphyletic or the phylogenetic term "fish". I think the same applies to "trees" and many other

I remember it being a lot of fun theorizing how Luffy would destroy Fish man Island
It's always nice of the bad guy to show his face to Luffy before the big fight. That way he knows who to punch.
Neptune family just got a bunch of sweeties in it!

I mean, Robin’s Cuerpo Fleurs can’t just be walking around naked, lol. One Piece isn’t that wild 🤣🤣🤣
You look like whitebeard whenever the strap of the straw hat gets stuck under your nose lmao. A white beard with straw hat...
Have you ever watched Person of Interest? Because that series is entirely about redemption, so you might like it.
No, actually, I haven't! I'll keep that in mind!
Uhm actually *white anime glasses* whales are mammals.
Whales are mammals not fish
